I felt the same way many times. I was a part of Colgate, and Colgate was a part of me. But at the same time, I wasn't a typical Colgate student and there was another University somewhere that would have been a better fit. I actually turned in an application to become a Colgate tour guide, and made it up to the interview round. But it was a trick, they pretended I was the tour guide, and they were on the tour, how would I answer the following questions. "Is Colgate a friendly place?" "How much of a role does alcohol play in campus culture?" "I notice a lot of the students seem to look and act alike, describe diversity on campus." "What role do the fraternities play?" I had no chance. But I thought my answers were pretty good . "well yeah.... but if you are that sort of person, you'll love it here!"

The funny thing is that I've felt the same way about erm..... shall we call it... Wheat-thin... yes... with it's smarmy politics, and whole "you-can-only-get-somewhere-if-you-know-the-right-
people" attitude. In fact, it has made me angry on more than one occasion, even though I'm sure that the same holds true everywhere. But I think that one is able to make ammends in the summer because you don't have the classes and the work, and the people, and you can appreciate the beauty of your paticular campus for what it is, instead of passing it all by as you try to make it to your next class on time worrying if you've done a particularly difficult intergral correctly on your calc homework before you pass it in for yet another miserable grade.... (Well... perhaps that last particular bit doesn't hold true for all of us, but you know what I mean)
