I'm ridiculous enough that I don't even swat mosquitoes. (I swat at them with my hands in the air, but not to kill, just to make them go away.) And, yeah, flytape makes me feel awful.
I refuse to kill insects, unless they are (a) in my apartment and (b) either a mosquito, a flea, an ant, a roach, a fruit fly (although we have none of those in our apartment *knock on wood*) or any other invasive pests. The rest of them, I figure if they don't bother me I won't bother them. The spiders that have their webs set up in my corners get to stay because they eat the black flies that would otherwise be biting me, for instance.
I wouldn't mind killing slugs, I think, if they weren't so squishy and slimy. For some reason they don't seem quite alive to me. Worms I feel bad for, and occasionally I'll move them off the sidewalk (very rarely, though). Slugs I watch curiously, but I won't touch the things, and I figure that if they get run over or cooked, it's their own fault for being slow and slug-ish.

I smashed a roach in the kitchen the other day. Then I felt really bad about it.
