Thank you so very much for the pictures. I'm happy to have gotten to see the library one last time before it goes the way of the coop. *sigh*
Despite the sadness, though, it's also very cool. Robotic book retrieval systems, librarians parodying drinking songs on the wall, empty library basements... I wish I could see it for myself. Although maybe I'm glad I can't, and I'll just remember Case the way I loved it. Until I visit again and have to see it for myself, that is.

Wow. So very very cool. It's so strange to see a naked library. All those books neatly organized everywhere is something that I've always taken for granted. However, that's terrible about the mural. I do hope that they have the sense to preserve it. It's very well done.

Also: The verses on the walls are *great*. I would totally be chalking the walls with Greek. I, er, have developed this nasty little tendency to carry sidewalk chalk in my jacket pockets and to chalk up passages from the Iliad, the Odyssey, and some Aristophanes on any convenient smooth surface. I was the bane of the Albany custodians' existance and will likely end up so again at work.

My god, I would be eternally entertained by a project like that. Or hell, just by the robot. And your barcoding sounds ever so much more interesting than mine (in another month or so, I have to go barcode everything in my complex that stays still for more than a minute. Fuuuun)
I wish I was able to go back and see the new library when it's done. I can just imagine it. And you know, even though I'll miss the Case I knew and loved for two and a half years, the new one will be awesome too.
...and having oodles of books in Donovan's, well, that right there would make life worth living. Beer, fries, and a library in one stop shopping. I'd never leave.

I think i'm mostly sad about those green chairs...you should look into swiping one...
and it's a shame about the mosaic too.

yeah, I think I noticed that when Maggie was doing research in that area. Thank goodness I didn't have to barcode those.

A good quarter of the fire ecology literature is titled "Burning Questions."

Just to be annoying:
"Crime and Punishment: Yo Momma On Trial"
I love the pictures. I love librarians for they are strange and brilliant. I love that mosaic ... so sad it will be lost forever. :(
