Mouse on Mars are a fucking incredible electronic act from Germany. They are playful and brilliant. I think they toured with Stereolab a few years back. Buy Idiology and listen to it at volume 10 on your headphones while you walk around town in too-tight sexy pants and smile at all the ordinary people.

i'm too poor. i spent all my money on records, cheese, boatneck shirts and a serge gainsbourg box set.
if you can't afford the cd, buy the latest new yorker and read the serra piece and tell everyone you know that you were into him way back when because you think sculpture shapes space better than architecture.

you are one sick little booger. As if I would say something that presumptuous. Silly boy.
I can afford the CD. Calmes Toi!
It's at pugz records. Is it that good? really? You said the Strokes were good. I'm not a big fan o'them. The hives were pretty fun though. Tres pop/punky and kooky.
I only read the new yorker for the dirty pictures.

i said the kids liked the strokes. i don't. when i want the velvet underground, i listen to the velvet underground. the strokes look like a government plot to insure that real revolution stays submerged. same with the hives. they keep the public from knowing about the international noise conspiracy, a band that scares the music industry and capitalists everywhere.

Do you know, some people think I'm a music snob? ME! I'm actually the music devil.
I adore you. You're such a music snootass.
Ridiculo.
I like the hives. They are swedish and cute, therefore they are good.
Funny story:
The Strokes were playing on the speakers in the Gap one day when we were shopping. I said "Is this the new sonic youth?" and I was told it was the strokes. I was disappointed. I'd never heard them before. I was thinking "Shocking! sounds exactly like thurston moore!"
Then we went to another store. I said "Is this the Strokes?" but it wasn't. It was another band that sounded exactly like them. And sonic youth. It kept playing over and over and over and over. I hate the mall.

the music industry works hand in hand with the govt to co-opt and steer music to a safe-haven of blandness. we first saw this in the late 50s when safe crooners like bobby darin replaced the rock n roll menace. when then public got wise, the media threw up a smoke screen in the form of the pay-ola scandal.
to curb the student riots of the late 60s, the govt infused mellow country rock into the zeitgeist and things calmed down. the mc5 wanted revolution. the grateful dead (very likely cia agents) got the kids to just get high and drop out so Nixon could get elected. this laid back country rock shit culminated in the eagles who urged the kids to "take it easy".
in the 80s, they used young CIA agents as "new wave" bands to steal the thunder from punk. this is how you get the early 80s consumer-rock of missing persons.
it goes on today. the strokes are very likely well-trained government agents.
