I'MMA LET YOU FINISH

Fristy

GravatarSuskind!

GravatarHell yes, mars. Then it's on to the fucking eighth dimension, bitches.

GravatarI heard someone on A. Brown saying that all the foreign policy polls were trending to Kerry. They're all starting to blend together, so I'm not sure it was Greenfield. MARS!

GravatarAh that liberal media.

Fuck 'em. Fuck 'em all.

Do YOU support Mel Gibson?

Gravatar... bitches?

anyone ... ?

GravatarLandslide Bitches!

GravatarNH is Kerry Country. Who is Jeff Greenfield, and why should THE RESURGENT DEMOCRATIC PARTY, er, um CARE?!?!

MARZ! Because we DEMOCRATS say so!

MANDATE, Bitches!

Gravatarbill schneider was just weepily doing the same with aaron brown as he read the racking polls, he couldn't hide his dismay, the jackass !

tracking kerry's closing of the security gap, he said "this was supposed to be bush's edge" . he sounded desperate.

MARS

Gravataryeah, but what does william schneider think, that bush ball sniffing right wing toad pretending to be non-biased.

Gravatari want to see a montage of all these cable pricks counting kerry out in mid-september !

GravatarFOKES !

You gotta see the new Bush video.

IT'S COMPLETELY OF THE FUCKING WALL.

'Road to Victory'

http://www.georgewbush.com/

I seriously think they have become unhinged.

Justin

GravatarI think we are going to be very pleasantly surprised tomorrow. Very.

GravatarChris Mathews has been all Kerry for 3 days. (What a whore)

GravatarFirst we're going to Mercury! Then we're going to Venus! Then we're going to Earth! Then we're going to MARS Bitches! Then we're going to Jupiter! Yearrrrrgghhhhhh! Then we're going to Neptune! Then Saturn! Then URANUS George Bush! We're GOING TO URFUCKINGANUS BITCH!

GravatarQuick blogwhoring:

My friend JP (Lennon) is liveblogging the elction all day tomorrow. It's an unprecedented feat of unheralded satirical wizardry:

http://lennonreport.blogspot.com

VERY FUNNY!!!

Love your page dunc/atrios. Keep fighting the good fight!!!

GravatarAn interesting bit of Florida election law (and one that's heartening):

'In Duval County, a spokeswoman for the Elections Office said the Republicans had sent an overnight list of felons who might try to vote and their criminal records. She said the office would not refer to the list, because names cannot be purged from the rolls within 90 days of an election.' (from the New York Times).

Kerry - 60%
Bush - 40%

GravatarJeff Greenfield, get your ass to Mars.

Bush is going to win? Come on, don't bullshit me.

GravatarDid you hear that eerie comment from Aaron Brown about how in the past the outcome has been known the night before the election?

That put a lump in my throat.

Atrios -- can you get early exit polls tomorrow afternoon?

GravatarHell yes, mars. Then it's on to the fucking eighth dimension, bitches.

That's it! It just clicked! Chimpy is really John Worfin and the rest of the Neocons are Red Lectroids!

Evil, pure and simple, straight from the eighth dimension!

GravatarMANDATE, YOU MEDIA BITCHES!

Gravatari saw pat buchanon on hardball say he thought kerry was gonna take this election............

i had to pinch myself

GravatarWoo woo!

---

GravatarCheck out this great photo diary of Kerry

GravatarI wouldn't fuck Mel Gibson with someone else's koochie, thanks. All he had was looks, and those definitely didn't last long. Certainly didn't have talent. And his politics suck.

Now Viggo Mortensen OTOH...

PERFECT. And a Libra, too. MMMMMMMM!

GravatarThat's it! It just clicked! Chimpy is really John Worfin and the rest of the Neocons are Red Lectroids!

I love a good Buckaroo Banzai reference before bedtime.

GravatarWhat DOES Mars bitches mean, anyway?

you need a glossary for this site ... :D

GravatarCheck out this great photo diary of Kerry

Gravataryou need a glossary for this site ... :D

No, just a constant injection of Comedy Central.

GravatarMars.

Let's go, my fellow bitches.

GravatarEven Greenfield can read the handwriting on the wall.

WTF happened to him? He once worked for Bobby Kennedy?

GravatarJeff Greenfield, get your ass to Mars.

Bush is going to win? Come on, don't bullshit me.
Old Hat |

Hey, it's that guy from "Kindergarten Cop".

GravatarEven Scarborough on MSGOP seems to be laying the groundwork for explaining the pending Kerry landslide. The rats are lining the railing and judging the distance to the waterline.

Gravatarflipping back & forth between cnn & msgop. both shows sound like they're doing a postmortem on the bush campaign.

they know...

GravatarOT, but related. My husband was telling me how stressed his father is over the election -- he thinks the world's going to end if Bush wins. I mean, he's miserable. Impossible to talk to, and driving his wife nuts. And I was wondering why, although I feel just as strongly, I'm not such a wreck.

(Cue violins) And it's because of you guys. So thanks Atrios, and everyone here, for keeping me sane.

Just thought I'd say that.

(end violins)

GravatarNext stop Mars, my bitches.

Space is the Place!

Gravatarwhat's wrong with Kos?
I can't get on?
Is the server down due to overload?

Gravatarjust watched that pathetic bush wrap up video, complete with 1980's flying boxes.

the must have seen kerry's wrap up video this morning and decided they needed one too.

GravatarKos is down. DOS attack? What's up?

GravatarKos is down. DOS attack? What's up?

GravatarYes, Mars!

I look forward to watching Schneider and Greenfield fall into each other's arms sobbing uncontrollably tomorrow night.

Brokaw won't comfort Timmy, he'll probably just pat him on the head. Brokaw still thinks we're all convinced of his professional demeanor and he won't want to spoil that.

GravatarOk people its 4:00 am here in London Eng. And i cant sleep, i hope all of you guys across the pond are ready....

at dawn you will all change the world, the world is holding its breath,
choose wisley and never in fear,
stand strong and the world will stand with you.

good luck....

GravatarThey smell the cat food, dood.

I might just take Wednesday off, stock up on VHS tapes and make me a highlight reel of pundits and newsreaders eating crow.

Mahz, beetches. I don't keed.

GravatarJo Public...Did you ever know that you're my hero...You're the wind beneath my wings...I'm proud to be an American...

and cut.

GravatarSpace is the Place!
Sun Ra (dialing in from Saturn

Can I be in your Arkestra? I play a mean Rhodes.

Gravatarblumes - I'd love to laugh at the latest Baghdad Bush detachment from reality. Unfortunately it's STILL access denied for all us ex-pats.

Is someone going to preserve the propaganda for future generations to look at and marvel at the depths that the neo-Birchers went?

Gravatarprediction:

Kerry by six points in the popular vote.

290 EV and maybe better.

you heard it here first.

GravatarZain -- sleep well. We're ready.

GravatarSome good news: Republicans lose 11th-hour suit challenging Broward County voter rolls.

http://tinyurl.com/65rkg (Miami Herald, registration req., try login: crockett@tubbs.com, password: miamivice)

Gravatar& they're all predicting a clear winner tomorrow night.

mars it is.

GravatarSchneider was sad (a good sign) but at least he reported the truth.

GravatarLocal Fox affiliate in Minneapolis made a big deal about the strong dem ground game and the fact that the DFL knows how to win the big ones . . .

GravatarZain, thank you! We're ready. We're going to fix this mess. It's good to know we'll have some support.

GravatarJeff, bitch!

Oh, for crying out loud. Someone finally states the obvious and it's ((news?))

GravatarGreat Breslin column declaring a Kerry win.

I just hope there aren't any weird desperate measures taken by the Bush administration.

I also hope the electronic voting machines aren't rigged.

Other than that-- I am very confident!

GravatarDid you ever know that you're my hero...

We had joy, we had fun, we had seasons in the...

No, wait.

Never mind.

GravatarI hate to come right out and admit my uncoolness, but can anyone tell me what "mars, bitches" means and where it comes from? Thankya!

GravatarWhat does Greenfield Know, anway.

Gravatargood luck....
zain |

Thank you, zain.

GravatarI'm glad to hear the whores are now starting to suck up to Kerry. that fat pumpkin headed brother of Bush's said to Larry King(R) whore that his brother was going to win florida. Is Jeb confessing or just in denial?

GravatarLandslide, baby!

Gravatardunno if any of you caught Michael Moore on Anderson Cooper today but Moore was great. Cooper tried to bait him with "OBL watched your film", Moore refused to take the bait. Moore said it was sad to watch Nader take a match to his grand legacy or something like that.

I love Michael Moore!

GravatarOMG the "Road to Victory"'s first line said by Bush is *completely* unintelligible!

"blah blah blah blah your vote!"
Listen to it.
What the hell is he saying?

GravatarWe were on Kerry's side all along.

GravatarI look forward to watching Schneider and Greenfield fall into each other's arms sobbing uncontrollably tomorrow night.

for their own mental well-bing, hopefully they segway rather quickly from the crying game into fellating each other.

no better way to wash away sadness than some hott and steamy failure sex.

Gravatar...my sweet bitches.

GravatarEvan,

Apparently the reference is from a skit on the Chappelle Show on Comedy Central. In reference to going to conquer Iran, he in his black Bush character said, "Iran? We are going to Mars, bitches!"

GravatarFucker Eskew is having comm problems with Tweety, and I'm enjoying his unease, but I love hearing him saying the dems in PA are not excited. He says he's worried about races all across the country, but then says it bodes well for the R's. Thus, he reveals himself as the Global Communicator who undoubtedly came up with the bit about "Be sure to fly a lot, don't let the terrists win" on the day Rumsfeld announced he would order shoot-downs of commercial airliners if he felt like it. He's ve-ry com-pli-ca-a-a-ted.
-

GravatarOkay, I'm even cool according to my kid in junior high.

What in the hell is the "Mars, bitches" reference?

Gravatarto those wondering
"mars bitches" comes from the Dave Chapelle show on Comedy Central. Dave was the President and when asked a tough question he answered "Mars Bitches" a reference to Goergies State of the Union speech when he talked about his Mars initiative, in a blatant attempt to change the subject.

GravatarLMAO..Scarbourough is pissing in his pants talking how fair he is....what a fuckin bag of shit...

GravatarHey, the whores took a look and saw Siberia in their futures and decided it was time to get on board the winning side.

Alternate theory? they're finally admitting the inevitable.

Mars! you fucking bitches!

GravatarI hate to come right out and admit my uncoolness, but can anyone tell me what "mars, bitches" means and where it comes from? Thankya!

It's from a skit on the Dave Chappelle Show called "Black Bush." Download it on a P2P network, it's funny.

It's become Atrios shorthand for "winning the election."

Mars, my little bitches.

GravatarQuick poll of the Atriettes:

Which wingnut/mediawhore will you most enjoy watching suck up a Kerry victory?

Right now, my vote's for Mrs Greenspan.

GravatarWhen Kerry does win, let's not simply pat ourselves on the back and wish him the best. While I'm not suggesting we make him the infallible not-Bush, I do hope enough of us have his back on those occasions when he is on the right side of an issue, but gets unjustly slapped around by the "liberal media."

America willing, we are about to have our Bill McKay "What do we do now?" moment. Let's not do the other side any favors in fucking it up.

Now...sleep...tomorrow...GOTV!!!

GravatarOk people its 4:00 am here in London Eng. And i cant sleep, i hope all of you guys across the pond are ready....

at dawn you will all change the world, the world is holding its breath,

GravatarMars, my CNN bitches!

GravatarMy own personal comfort song for the week.
LIGHT ONE CANDLE
Peter Yarrow- ©1983 Silver Dawn Music ASCAP
Light one candle for the Maccabee children
With thanks that their light didn't die
Light one candle for the pain they endured
When their right to exist was denied
Light one candle for the terrible sacrifice
Justice and freedom demand
But light one candle for the wisdom to know
When the peacemaker's time is at hand

chorus:
Don't let the light go out!
It's lasted for so many years!
Don't let the light go out!
Let it shine through our love and our tears.

Light one candle for the strength that we need
To never become our own foe
And light one candle for those who are suffering
Pain we learned so long ago
Light one candle for all we believe in
That anger not tear us apart
And light one candle to find us together
With peace as the song in our hearts

(chorus)

What is the memory that's valued so highly
That we keep it alive in that flame?
What's the commitment to those who have died
That we cry out they've not died in vain?
We have come this far always believing
That justice would somehow prevail
This is the burden, this is the promise
This is why we will not fail!

(chorus)

Don't let the light go out!
Don't let the light go out!
Don't let the light go out!

GravatarOK, I rested up all day, and I feel lots better. Or maybe it's just nervous energy.

What the fuck. Northern PA GOTV, here I come, with all my union friends.

And we'll march day and night
By the big cooling tower
They have the plant
But we have the power...

GravatarCan anyone tell me if the high early voter turn-out is only in the swing states or in all states?

GravatarOld hat!

Love the audio!

Gravatarat dawn you will all change the world, the world is holding its breath,
choose wisley and never in fear,

My dear, we will strongly re-defeat the Shrub. There is no way IN HELL this punk represents American *values*

Peace!

GravatarWhich whore will I enjoy watching suck up? Judy Woodruff.

GravatarDamn it, people, tomorrow we take down the Bush Boy!

That fucker is going down!

Who'd a-thunk it way back when, as the Moron's approval ratings hit 90%?

Close the deal tomorrow!

GravatarThat Bush video brought up one of Bush's favorite talking points: "We have to stay on the offensive against the terrorists."

Three years after the US entered WWII, we were on the cusp of victory, and and we finished the job only a few months later.

More than three years after 9/11, bin Laden is looking stronger than ever. What the heck is up with that? Is Al Qaeda tougher than the fucking Wehrmacht? Mightier than the Imperial Navy?

GravatarI am enjoying the pundits trying to make it seem like they were in Kerry's corner all along. I take that as a huge omen. They see the writing on the wall.

Gravatarjudy woodmuff and candy crowley

GravatarAnd by "P2P" I mean something like Kazaa, which you can download at Kazaa.com. Search for "Black Bush" and you'll find it.

GravatarMrs. Greenspud is "the" most repulsive shill on TV...She makes Hannity look like Al Franken

GravatarVote. Twist the arms of friends and enemies and VOTE.

The shit is still aimed directly at the fan.

Gravataror their own mental well-bing, hopefully they segway rather quickly from the crying game into fellating each other.

FUck!!

Warn me before you give me scary mental pictures like that. Now I have to bleach my brain.

GravatarIf you can find it, I highly suggest for your listening pleasure an insturmental track by Juan Maclean called "By The Time I Get To Venus." It seems, somehow, appropriate...

GravatarEven Greenfield can read the handwriting on the wall.

WTF happened to him? He once worked for Bobby Kennedy?
Wile E. Odysseus | Email | Homepage

He was one of the original geniuses
of the National Lampoon....before
PJ ORourke, BTW.

And Joe Scarborough is a disingenuous
dickhead -- he just said he went to
the Democratic Convention and that delegates
told him how much they loved him and
his show. Thus proving there aren't
two Americas.

GravatarOh my bitches, it looks like Mars is in sight.

Thank you all for helping keep me and so many of us sane these last couple of years.

But we must maintain the momentum. Remember Sinclair after the chads have fallen where they may. Remember what a letter or two will do to change a media gone wild, sweet happy bitches...

Gravatar'good luck. we're all counting on you.'
leslie nielsen

Haahahahaaa!

GravatarGreenfield and Co. just said they have no idea who is going to win. I find this shocking.

GravatarWhich wingnut/mediawhore will you most enjoy watching suck up a Kerry victory?

Kyra Phillips

Gravatarzain, you need to turn your clock back.

GravatarThey know, and they've positively known since at least the first debate. They strongly sensed in August when they worked the swift boat lies for all it was worth just to keep the ballgame alive.

GravatarZain,

I am always astonished to find out how many Ex-Pats and Internationals hang out around here. Your collective expression of hope, and messages of support is a wonder to behold.

Thanks to you all

KERRY/EDWARDS IN A LANDSLIDE!!!

GravatarCNN'S Candy Crowley wants to sound objective..but noooo way. Total hack with a nack for finding the lowest polls for Kerry or the one bad item for him and talking about it at length.

When she goes for Kerry..we are in.
She strikes me as very very bitter.

GravatarSome final thoughts before Tuesday -

"Pot Kettle Black- A small History Lesson :
After all the things I've read about Karl Rove, after seeing the film 'Bush's Brain' and after thinking about the Pot Kettle Black tactic that BushCo is using in the Cam-pain I couldn't help but think of another time in history. A time when manipulating the message was of highest priority , a time when all encompassing power was the great end."

GravatarThink now about the future...these weasel bastards will be out of their cages on November 3 ready to screw Kerry every which way they can...expect attacks on Teresa, etc. They have got to be smacked down every time they rear their ugly heads. They screwed the last elected president we had--and gave a three year pass to the unelected moron---

We now build the progressive coalition that will push back these media screamers....let no unfair story or distortion go unchallenged..and bring back the Fairness Doctrine to pull the plug on right wing talkers...

Gravatarlet's not get cocky, people. I remember sitting in a bar in Tampa late into the night and early morning in 2000, watching the results on TV.

I can't help but think that the early "call" of Florida for Gore helped Bush to win*. It must have had an impact on the (still open) polls on the West coast, with Dems not bothering to go to the polls because they thought it was already in the bag.

Whatever you do, don't forget to vote, and GOTV while you're about it. It isn't over 'till the last vote is counted, and all this premature talk of victory doesn't necessarily help.

Unfortunately, I have to just watch. Although I'm a longtime US resident, and consider myself notionally American, I don't have citizenship yet (I'm technically a Brit).

Good luck John, and everybody else - don't count any chickens just yet.

Regards
Krill

*yeah, I know. But he *is* in the WH...

GravatarCan anyone summarize what Greenfield/Schneider said? I took a break to watch the SNLfest...

GravatarJustin,
I just watched the final W ad. What the hell were they thinking? Those camera angles are right out of the Leni Riefenstahl textbook: looking up in devotion into the Führer's distorted face while he bovulates. That's sure to win over 0.00001% of the vote. It cost 'em a bundle, and they're gonna need all the $$$ they can find to hire the lawyers to defend them before they all sent off to Levenworth, where. I hope W gets a nice big "protector" with a pretty mouth.

GravatarYes, bitches! Mars!

Gravatar"he just said he went to
the Democratic Convention and that delegates
told him how much they loved him and
his show. Thus proving there aren't
two Americas."

Bullshit. Scarboy would've been running for his life. If I ever seen him out in public, I'm kicking his miserable ass.

And I'll do the time without complaining, baby.

Gravatar"The board is set. The pieces are moving."

Gravatardissenter: Supposedly 30% of Tennessee has already voted, and Tennessee wasn't supposed to be a swing state.

Gravatar"Right now, my vote's for Mrs Greenspan"

Yes!!! I can't wait for her to go all Lewinsky.

GravatarWhich wingnut/mediawhore will you most enjoy watching suck up a Kerry victory?

I'm going to enjoy the poop-flinging over at LGF.

Gravatarzain,

Meet you in London next week. I'll be in the King's Arms near the Barbican Tuesday night - weraing a Kerry button. Stand you a pint.

GravatarWatch out:

October 29, 2004 --A plan may be afoot to induce a national terror threat on Election Day to lower voter turnout and steal the election for Bush once again, but this time in a different manner.

At least three states have WMD/Terrorism Incident drills scheduled for Tuesday, November 2, 2004 – Election Day. As of May 8, 2001, Dick Cheney was placed in charge of managing all domestic preparedness related to Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD). It is likely that Cheney will be managing all of the Election Day WMD/Terrorism Incident drills across the country. The presidential statement, which gave Cheney this power, also created the Office of National Preparedness.

FEMA’s website makes the national announcement, but omits any dates, saying only that this is a “training course” that takes place over three 8-hour days. The course is headed by the Office of Domestic Preparedness.

GravatarScarborough on Hardball just now:

"People are getting shot at in Iraq because they want to do what we do over here."

Um... play out our elections in the court system?

GravatarSearch for "Black Bush" and you'll find it.
Old Hat

I suggest searching for "chappelle bush". "Black bush" will give you some very interesting results, but probably not what you're looking for.

GravatarCNN'S Candy Crowley wants to sound objective..but noooo way. Total hack with a nack for finding the lowest polls for Kerry or the one bad item for him and talking about it at length.

i swear to god, as unbelievable as it is, when the missing explosives story was breaking, and kerry mentioned it in his speech on a particular day, ms. crowly started her report with the words, "John Kerry thinks he has something, and he's not letting go."

What a fucking bush whore if there ever was one.

the odds are neck and neck in my mind as to who is more likely to off themselves when all the networks start calling it for kerry tomorrow night: rove or candy

they can both go fuck themselves royally.

GravatarBill "AEI" Schneider just called Bush "intellectually unprepared" and said Kerry looked "more presidential."

The world just spun off of its axis. There's no one more experienced with ass covering that Schneider.

GravatarOnly about 30 more hours until its time to do the happy dance.

I think mine will be a combo of peewee herman and charlie chaplin.

kerry in a LANDSLIDE

GravatarRove and Candy?

EEEWwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!

GravatarRepeat: If her nickname is Candy why isn't Paula's Silicon?

GravatarI have to say, i have followed this race closley for a year now, and in the begining i was a bit worrie about JFKerry, but the more i have listened the more i have become assured that the fate of the american people will be in capable, more than capable hands,

i sometimes think you guys do not realise how important you,the american people are, in recent history the rest of the world has looked and seen your strength, through times of Darkness America has prduced voices of eloquent decent, from the righteous voice of Martin Luther King to the philosophy of Bob Dylan.

Days of history have come and gone and now you again must look in the mirror and decide and bare the responsibility your fathers and mothers have placed on your shoulders...

tommorrow decides the future for my generation, i hope we are heard!

Gravatarafter the Cspan rally I tried to watch the MSNBC panel but just couldn't stomach the circle-jerk-ness of it all.

Though seeing Chris Matthews smugly ask "Who's E. B. White?" without an iota of an inkling of just how much of an idiot it made him look, was somewhat worthwhile.

GravatarAB:Who is going to win?
JG: I don't know.
BS:I don't know.
AB:Then I guess I won't ask you to write it down on a piece of paper. I also don't know.

GravatarWe were on Kerry's side all along.

Kerry WH: Of course you were. Now, we have this wonderful buffet set up for you, the pate is simply divine, darling, then we'll give you all your interviews. Just take a left at the hall and the first door on your right. Thanks, have a great time.

SCLM smiles and bounces to hallway. Ha! Wasn't so hard to fool those chumps. This is more like it. No more bad food from the Dems. Take the left. Open the door on the right, step through--

And fall 8000 feet to the ground below. SPLAT.

Eschatonians gathered at the bottom rate the falls on their merits. Judith Fucking Miller got bonus points for having "FUCK!" be her last word before she became a gelatinous heap on the desert floor.

Gravatarbritnotbrit I agree with you so much. Look what we accomplished with the Sinclair Broadcasting matter. 150,000 of us signed the online petition. We will never know how many calls, and letters and emails the sponsors recieved. I enjoyed getting the responses from the sponsors. I am amazed at what we can accomplish when we work together.

If John Kerry gets stuck hitting his head against the Republican Senate wall, we can all go into attack mode and clobber the offending Senators with the calls, emails and letters.
I think we can get all Kerry's agenda through the Senate and Congress as long as we all stick with him. I am sure ready.

GravatarI think the "turning" of the conservative pundits who've been seen as "turning" is based on one of two things:

1) They've awakened to the fact that Kerry is going to win, and they're playing out this elaborate game of ass-kissing in order to secure their precious access to the Kerry Administration.

2) They're playing an elaborate misinformation campaign designed to mobilize Bush supporters to vote.

Either way, they're still whores.

GravatarDance. No. If Kerry wins I'm getting about 14 hours of sleep and getting up to fight the fascists for the next eight years. And that's only to keep Kerry in office. Scaife will have already commissioned plans to destroy President Kerry.

GravatarWe now build the progressive coalition that will push back these media screamers....let no unfair story or distortion go unchallenged..and bring back the Fairness Doctrine to pull the plug on right wing talkers...
ozymandias

We have to do all that, and we also have to approach this the same way Kerry will approach Iraq, which is to make RW radicalism LESS attractive to the people who are still capable of being influenced. Whichever poster called this a "Cold Civil War" was exactly right, and a big part of the battle will be stopping the GOP from getting supplies and reinforcements and recruits. Winning over people who are hostile to Kerry, but can be reasoned with, is going to be a big, important job. I'd like to see the Right go back to being a nuisance, where you fight it here and there as needed but it doesn't control our lives...

GravatarCan SOMEONE tell us what Greenfield and Schneider said instead of repeating some fucking stupid Chappelle bit? Sorry to be a hard-ass, but jeez.

GravatarElection prediction:

One week after the election, Al Franken is in a prime timeslot in every major market in the fucking country.

(btw, i was leslie nielsen ...repeat as often as necessary...cue lightning!)

GravatarCocky?
There's been way too much preparation to get cocky in the sense that complacency will negate follow through. To paraphase the old coach's axiom (and some young ones too), tomorrow is where preparation meets opportunity.

GravatarI feel like an expat, living in Houston. But anyway even things here are subdued. There is *not* a sense of (R) victory in the air. Lots of K/E bumperstickers. I've had one for months -- never been tampered with, and I drive about 400 miles a week all around the city.

Most settling today, however, are the imagery cues from the media, the anecdotes of Bush campaign people beginning to wax "nostalgia" (media code for they know they're gonna lose), etc. Yeah, Aaron Brown said it, they know the night before. All the pro-Bush polls suddenly pull even, or, as in 2000, show a Kerry momentum...

God please let this be a convincing win tomorrow -- to the point that we don't even scream and rejoice, but rather safely collapse and breathlessly utter... "oh my god, it's really over."

GravatarI'm so sure Kerry will win that if he doesn't I'll eat a bug.

Really, I will.

GravatarI haven't settled on the details of my happy dance yet, but it's gonna be big and bold and it's not stopping when I go to work the next day.

MARS, BITCHES!

Kerry in a mothafucking landslide!

Gravatarsun ra is in the house!!!!

GravatarI have to prepare for 4 job interviews this week and I can't concentrate.

Damned Americans!

Gravatari heard Greenfield call it for Bush saturday night...the rats are leaving the boat and calling it for Kerry now cause they now feel the Kerry momentum. Corporate whores those Greenfield and all

GravatarOne week after the election, Al Franken is in a prime timeslot in every major market in the fucking country.

Screw that. Franken for Senator.

GravatarSEE: Duckpit, Headfirst

GravatarWhat DOES Mars bitches mean, anyway

It is from a Dave Chappelle comedy skit. It's on Comedy central on Tues. night

Dave did a skit called "Black Bush", where chimp was his usual dumbassed self. When Chimp--Bush--ran out of excuses for his fuckups, he refered to his "Mars" policy.

Ergo, Mars, Bitch! That was chimp's answer to HARD questions.

Jeebus, that was long winded.

Gravatar swear to god, as unbelievable as it is, when the missing explosives story was breaking, and kerry mentioned it in his speech on a particular day, ms. crowly started her report with the words, "John Kerry thinks he has something, and he's not letting go."

Hell, I remember being subjected to CNN one evening at a restaurant, and Crowley and some other blowhard were discussing an issue. All Crowley could talk about was, "And how does that affect the Republicans chances? Does it make them look good or not?"

Fuck you Candy. I can't wait to see how big a gelatinous heap you make when you drop off the cliff. I have a feeling that sperm whales would leave a smaller crater.

GravatarWasteland,

Ya know...
If you put a bad wig on Rove, take off his glasses and put on some makeup....You got Candy. Interesting???

Of course, he has to use a deeper voice when doing Candy.

GravatarYou don't need to be a weatherman...

Aww, heck, you know.

GravatarHow are the Freepers doing doing tonight?

GravatarWaPo:

Bush's aides predicted victory when talking on the record, pointing to polls showing that the race remained a tossup, both nationally and in key states. But despite the insistence that all was well, the erosion in the moods of Bush's inner circle over the past two weeks was unmistakable. Several of his close advisers said they were concerned because the president had achieved no last-minute momentum, and Democratic turnout was looking as if it might swamp the Bush-Cheney campaign's projections.

A GOP official who is privy to Bush-Cheney strategy and polling said that as the incumbent, Bush should be further ahead of Kerry in polls. "Some of them have been moving in the right direction, but it isn't enough," the official said. "Karl [Rove] is a big believer in the bandwagon effect, but there has been nothing over the past week for the president to use it to turn it around."

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp...1- 2004Nov1.html

GravatarOf course, he has to use a deeper voice when doing Candy.

The way I see it, that can be interpreted one of two ways, neither of which involve appetizing imagery.

GravatarI just read a report from Common Dreams about Florida's Teresa LaPorte apparently implementing a possibly illegal ordinance outlawing reporters interviewing or photographing voters waiting in line to vote. Link Man, for a party that crows about law and order, why do Repubs seem to think that they are always above the law? Or that the particular law does not apply to them. Sheesh.

Gravatarmust see: Tweety's son singing God Bless America on MSNBC. Omigod. Funny

GravatarCould you please put a LINK with these types of references? Or at least specify which network/ channel (or the name of the show). Not all of us are tuned to Tv or Tivo non-stop. At least I know what "Mars, bitches" refers to.

GravatarGod please let this be a convincing win tomorrow -- to the point that we don't even scream and rejoice, but rather safely collapse and breathlessly utter... "oh my god, it's really over."

i don't think i have the emotional energy left in this whole deal to rejoice tomorrow night when kerry wins, whatever the margin of error. i think i'll probably cry, and then quickly move on with my life. i've put way too much of myself into this whole fiasco over the last couple of years, and it's been beyond exhausting in all honestly. if i had it to do all over again, i would definitely choose to be one of those people who on average spend 5 minutes a week thinking about politics (like we were told befor going out on our canvass routes... as if it's supposed to be inspiring and not demoralizing)

i predict i'll probably be repulsed by politics for the next year or so...

anyway, no celebration from me.

GravatarTrying to find your polling place in Broward county? Good luck. Maybe you'll have better luck than I did.

http://www.browardsoe.org/#

GravatarYou can see the implosion happen live, in real-time thanks to the internet.

check out drudge right now. There is a new "news" blurb, with no link. It resembles one of those onion.com mini headlines that don't link to anything.

"Every vote is vital in today’s cliff-hanger American election – including those of the dead..."

LOL No link or anything. It's right below the picture of the e-voting machine.

GravatarLJ,

Dang! You are in fine bitchin' form tonight!

GravatarBut wait! It gets better:

Mark McKinnon, Bush's chief ad strategist, flew with him all day and said Bush was "nostalgic" about having so much of his team from 2000 out on the road with him one last time. Asked the mood on the plane, a subdued McKinnon replied, in deadpan voice: "Jubilation."

Jubilation. Mars.

GravatarOne thing this election has done for me is to allow me to be DONE with the SCLM.

Done with every last filthy one of them (except maybe Oberman).

If Kerry pulls this out, and I think he will, it shows just how worthless they all really are - especially since they're just now figuring out all the things so many of us have known for a long, long time.

John Stewart is a God.

Gravataron CNN: "the undecided vote" with Paula Zzzzawn

who the fuck is undecided tonight???

Gravatar"Every vote is vital in today’s cliff-hanger American election – including those of the dead..."

Yes, even Dick Cheney and Richard Perle are allowed to vote.

Oh, I'm sorry, I thought you said undead...

GravatarSorry. Broward is in Floorida and heavily Democratic. What a mess we'll have on our hands tomorrow.
CP

GravatarHokay. Just heard Chris Matthew's son sing "America the Beautiful" a cappella on MSNBC. A truly strange interlude. His son looks and sounds to be about 15 with bleached, pixie-type hair and, well, pretty. A suddenly very intimate look into Chris Matthew's life. It was really, very bizarre for a night where the whole world is holding their breath.

GravatarSorry. Broward is in Florida and heavily Democratic. What a mess we'll have on our hands tomorrow.

GravatarI'm with many of the other ones here who believe that our work is only BEGINNING, and that the media needs to be our primary focus while we build a strong movement that starts moving into local races more and more.

It's ridiculous that so many races on my ballot had so many Republicans, unchallenged. This is scandalous. We must challenge them on every damned race. Every single one. These "piddly" offices get people moving up the chain with experience, AND it forces the Republicans to spend money on those races, pulling money from the top. Make them EARN every office they get. Don't give them enough rope to spend even more on Prez. This is vital.

Gravatar
I'm so sure Kerry will win that if he doesn't I'll eat a bug.

Really, I will.

Do spiders count as "bugs"?

Because out in the woods where I hunt, there are some ugly, nasty, alien-looking, HUGE spiders, and I'd be happy to provide one.

GravatarHecate,

Maybe which way the wind is gonna blow?

Your Rove/Candy remark..very very funny.

I need to chose my words more carefully.

GravatarWho be E. B.? Poor Tweety, I thought at first he knew, and was having the panelist elucidate, like when someone slips into beltway speak, and the host asks "And what is OIF, for our audience?". But Matthews is a Philly boy, right, and spent some time out West? He, like so many of us, must also have had his image of NYC filled in by those little glimpses of the Naked City at the front of the New Yorker.

GravatarI'm with many of the other ones here who believe that our work is only BEGINNING, and that the media needs to be our primary focus while we build a strong movement that starts moving into local races more and more

LJ, you are soooo right. I think our work will be twofold:

1. Counteract the SCLM and the wingnuts in Congress.

2. Hold President Kerry's (Goddess but that does sound sweet) feet to the fire to make sure he holds to progressive values.

Landslide, Kerry.

GravatarOkay, but let's not go crazy. Pat B. just suggested that Michigan is the Dark Horse for Bush. I live in Ann Arbor, it ain't happenin' for Bush here. Pat B. is delusional.

GravatarHuge sign behind the goobs on MSNBC:

GOD HELP US
BUSH IS TRYING
TO STEAL
ANOTHER
ELECTION

GravatarNow that Joe Scarborough's finally gotten out of his house - he was laid up for a few weeks with a bad back - he's seen the writing on the wall. Tonight on Hardball he conceded without prompting that Kerry is not going to go right out and do 100 terrible things if he gets elected. "These are both responsible men," Scarborough said. He actually sounded conciliatory.

Not that he and his ilk still don't need to be crushed to prevent them from pulling another eight years of 'Kerry-gate this' and 'Kerry-gate that' on us like they did during the Clinton years.

My point is that Joe has clearly gotten some info that has him laying off the 'Bush is definitely going to win' and 'we're doomed if Kerry wins' lines he's been pushing for months now.

GravatarMars!

I just don't know which media whore to watch meltdown tomorrow. Decisions, decisions.

Does anyone else remember Candy Crowley crying when Florida was taken away from Bush? Disgraceful. And to think she still has a job.

GravatarI almost threw a show at that damn Schneider after he has spent the last 6 months up GWB's ass.

GravatarLJ,

LOL. No such thing as too much info. Maybe. heh.

GravatarWhen they project Kerry in a landslide, I'm going to do the Dean "YEEEAAAAARRGH!"

GravatarThat's "shoe". I would have thrown a show also if I had one.

Gravatar'In Duval County, a spokeswoman for the Elections Office said the Republicans had sent an overnight list of felons who might try to vote and their criminal records. She said the office would not refer to the list, because names cannot be purged from the rolls within 90 days of an election.'

Score. We were told tonight at a training (Tampa) that a challenge CANNOT be based solely on the felon's list. I pray a lot of counties are just pitching the list. And pray for a lot of quivering-lipped challengers like little Megan from last night -- if we have to deal with any. Interestingly, they're including cameras in our kits -- we're instructed to take pics of things like voters being asked for ID in line, cop cars parked close by, etc.

Gotta be there at 5AM. It's kind of a toss-up at this point: nap, or a pot of coffee so strong it pours itself and washes out the mug afterward.

GravatarI live in a downtown urban neighborhood in San Diego. Greeting everyone on the street with a "be sure to vote tomorrow." White folks are pleasant, but noncommital, but my black neighbors' faces just light up while they give me a thumbs up. The guy who runs the parking garage in my building replied, "Damn right, and I saw to it that 150 of my neighbors got registered." There is a swell of righteous anger out there that will not be denied. And the rats won't even make it to the railing before the ship is sucked under the waves.

GravatarI am most looking forward to seeing Cokie choke out her explanation for how Kerry won. She'll look like someone who has to keep on talking even when that acid reflux hits.

Pie: Nah, Nagourney only bounced twice before he exploded. I'm only giving him a 6.5. Poor turnout in the dive.

NYMary, Thersites, & Baby Thersites: Pie, get out of the way! Here comes Scarborough, and he's making time! Whew, that was close. And look -- he landed face first.

Pie: Niiiice execution! That'll rate an 8.5.

GravatarDoes anyone else remember Candy Crowley crying when Florida was taken away from Bush? Disgraceful. And to think she still has a job.

What was that movie Jack Black made, the one that opens with him performing a song called "A Jolly Kick in the Cunt"?

I think of that whenever I see Candy Crowley...

Gravatarthough I know it will be in the realm of 300 EV for Kerry, the popular vote is the prize plum here. Remember, you tightly-wound skitterers, that Kerry will win the PV by at least 5 million.
How?
Easy. All Gore supporters vote for him. All Naderites vote for him. 10-15% of Bushies vote for him. Miami Cubans vote for him. Old people vote for him. Young people vote for him.

BEST OF ALL: the South (yeah, that one) is in play. Where Bush won by 10-15 points 4 years ago (like my home state of NC), he now leads by 4-8 points. How many millions of votes does Kerry gain by running a close second in the South?

LANDSLIDE, goddammit!

Tomorrow is going to be the best day of our lives.
I feel so lucky to have lived in this time.

Gravatar1. Counteract the SCLM and the wingnuts in Congress.

2. Hold President Kerry's (Goddess but that does sound sweet) feet to the fire to make sure he holds to progressive values.

It's morefold than that. We have to put the boots on the ground, in every fricking race. Much as I despise the Christian Coalition, I acknowledge that they saw exactly how to get so powerful. They did it by taking the piss-ant jobs nobody wanted, and working their way up. It WORKS. It's really the only way to make a party strong, and, somewhere, the Dems forgot it, becoming too top heavy.

Now we have this huge movement forming. We're starting to understand how we must put aside some of our differences at times to work together toward the important things. I never thought I'd see the day when progressives would understand the simle concept of prioritizing your goals. But it's happened. My God, who would have thought we'd have this much cohesion, even a year ago?

We can't lose this kind of momentum. We have to channel it and keep it going.

Gravatar"When Kerry does win, let's not simply pat ourselves on the back and wish him the best. While I'm not suggesting we make him the infallible not-Bush, I do hope enough of us have his back on those occasions when he is on the right side of an issue, but gets unjustly slapped around by the 'liberal media.'"

I agree, but let's keep him honest.
Let us hold him to a high standard; don't let Bush permanently lower the bar for our leaders. If he can't fix Iraq, remind him of his own words 35 years ago: "How can you ask a man to be the last to die for a mistake?"

GravatarIn every Presidential election since 1936, the incumbent has been re-elected if the Redskins won their last home game before the election. If the Redskins didn’t win then it was the challenger who made it to the White House. Guess what? The Redskins just lost their last home game.

GravatarThe GWB "Road to Victory" closing ad is horrible! Oh, and the background music! It's like a soundtrack to one of those 3rd-rate "Snow Bunnies" movies from the 80's-- the ones with gratuitous nudity as their only redeeming feature.

Did I miss the scene with Sybil Danning?

Gravatarabyssgazer,

Candycane Creepy Crawley actually *covered * the Gore campaign in '00. I guess you know this.

I have never seen such a sickening display of antagonism by a "journalist" in my long life.

Fuck you Bob Kerry.

GravatarOf course Kerry won, he got all those votes from the cemeteries.

GravatarI love being in the choir that's being preached to. I hope all of you are right, but way back in the lizard part of my brain I worry that the Shrub is somehow going to pull this out. I just hear Herr Buchannan say that if the Shrub carries Florida and Ohio it's all over. That makes me nervous when I look at the current statewide polls on RealClearPolitics.com.

Preach to me some more you bitches!

Anyone hearing about this?

Maybe the dems were prepared with some big shit about Bush and Rove didn't dare it. Maybe the Kathy Bates character in Primary Colours really exists!

GravatarI have a feeling that sperm whales would leave a smaller crater.

I will not indulge in fat jokes. I will instead note that Candy Crowley's intellect would leave a crater small than that created by a small bowl of petunias. We can hope that by tomorrow night she'll just be thinking, "Oh, no, not again."

GravatarLJ, so noted. It's easy to underestimate the smaller offices and the ground game. Good call on the Christian Coalition too. Odious as they were, they were damned effective for a while.

GravatarThe election is already won barring banana Republicanism stealing of or suppressing of votes. These folks have become disgusting and we'll still be living with them on November 3 and onward - and they hold grudges, and they don't take responsibility for anything. They MUST always have an enemy to energize themselves, for they are perpetual victims. Osama bin Laden, Saddam Hussein, al Zarqawi, Arafat, Clinton - Emmanuel Goldstein all, and John Kerry and the rest of us liberal traitors will now join that list. Instead of learning the lesson that their minority status smackdown should be helping them to learn, they will fight twice as hard, and become twice as delusional. It will not be pretty.

GravatarYeh, go see that Road to Victory video at the georgewbush.com site.

GravatarAll's quiet on the troll front.

in actuality, they're all collectively composing their letters to the editor, entitled (or with a slight variation of) 'how many days does osama have to be free before kerry is charged with treason?' to be affixed with a stamp and sent the morning after kerry wins in a landslide.

be patient with them. they have their tongues in their lips, and their beady eyes are constricting and locking into the notepad upon which they write. you see, it takes a while for intellectual ions to find themselves satisfied with a bit of writing they've produced as, per nature, they are predisposed to not believe they can write a coherant sentence... or word.

GravatarHere's another bit about NC you might have overlooked:
The repubs are demoralized as hell. Our Dem governor is about to be reelected easily, Erskine Bowles is about to take over Edwards' Senate seat, and Uncle Jesse's granddaughter got outed last week. If NCarolinians are as craven as I think we are, they'll vote for Edwards, not Kerry, because they're desperate to MATTER again in nat'l politics. NC could go Kerry. I am not crazy.
Even if it doesn't, it's in play next cycle. The Dems are back in the solid South, bitches!

GravatarFucking little Ralphie Reed pretending like he wants to save Social Security.

GravatarDREAMS DO COME TRUE

Last January I had an odd, but happy dream.

I was walking across the white house lawn (like you do) and peaked through the open front door (like it often is) and saw old Barbara Bush watching the election returns coming in.

Her mouth was agape in bewilderment. Georgie just wasn't losing, he was losing badly. Kerry was trouncing him by 9.5 points.

When I dreamt this Kerry wasn't even the nominee yet.

In my dream I yelled out to Babs, 'Haha, your son is a bigger loser than your husband."

She shot me such a nasty look that I woke right up... with a smile on my face.

I swear this is true. And now it appears it is coming true. That dream kept me going through the swift boat lies and Repugnant convention. DOn't know why I had it but thank god I did.

That is a moment I am having right now. Weird, very weird.

GravatarLJ @ 11:23, great post. The best thing about this election is that progressives woke up because they were about to lose their country. Now that we're awake, we have a lot of work to do no matter what outcome tomorrow.

Bruce, I've been screaming about this for at least 15 years, ever since I first saw the CC's long-term political strategy. I knew it would work. One of the things that always exasperated the hell out of me is that the left couldn't put that kind of teamwork and goal-oriented approach together. Being part of any lefty organization always seemed like a circular firing squad. We can't afford that mentality anymore. It's a lose-lose, for everyone.

GravatarLet me remind y'all, that the last democratic election in 1930's Spain, just before the Fascists took over (for 40 years), was legitimately won by the anti-Fascists. The REAL battle commences on Wednesday.

GravatarSweet Lard!

I gotta go back to an earlier tread to find out where Richard Cranium was freeway blogging. Can you believe it?

GravatarHere in CA we've had almost no TV ads for the presidential campaign. But just saw the "eagle vs. ostrich" ad sponsored by the DNC. It rocks!!! Compare that to the Bush final ad, taken from the Leni Riefenstahl hymnal, with devout views from below while the Führer makes "be scared, be scared" noises. It's a walk-off grandslam tomorrow.

GravatarMy take is that lots of the talking heads tonight seem to be gravitating to the possibility of a solid Kerry victory. The TV GOPers are decidedly defensive and have nothing to hang their hats on other than their shrinking poll margin and the hope that a heavy turnout wont make a difference.

GravatarNYMary, happy birthday!! we're giving you independence for your birthday, how's that?

New post up on Wolcott, he's trashing Greenspan.

GravatarWatching Daily Show. Wallace of Fox is on. Said that in order for state to go to Bush or Kerry all four have to agree that the state is for Bush or Kerry. If one disagrees than the state cannot be called for either. This is terrible given Fox's track record and bias. I guarantee that Bush will get more leeway on deciding whether a state goes to him. Look for this tomorrow. This is the new November suprise. Any states leaning Kerry will not be called. States leaning Bush will be called for him. This will give the perception that Bush is ahead and thus the winner when the lawsuits go into effect. That is the only way that the supremes can use Bush v Gore in favor of Bush again. If the perception is that Kerry won. Then Bush v Gore must go for Kerry. If we don't win overwhelmingly then we all must take to the streets and never give up till our guy is in the wh.

Gravatarbigvic--

I remember her standing outside reporting right after Florida came off Bush's total.

She had clearly been crying just prior to going on camera. And they weren't tears of joy. It was that miserable bloated face--mascara running--depth of despair kind of crying.

I think she fell hard for the Chimpster's phony attention. Wasn't her nickname "Dulce"?

Gag.

GravatarI want to see Candy Crowley eat crow.

And melt down on national TV. I kind of hate her.

I think Candy's taken enough trips around the all-you-can-eat buffet. I'd rather see how deep a crater she'll make at the bottom of the cliff. We could use a nice lake. It would be so wonderful for parties, don't you think?

Gravatar"America the Beautiful"

Obligatory "Should be our national anthem" post. By far the #1 patriotic song. Kudos to young Matthews for chosing wisely.

Gravatarnagourney on Charlie Rose, the scum, and halperin the whore...on PBS in case you're wondering

Gravatarhi all, i am from Sydney Australia.

One of my favorite columnist, Sydney Morning Herald¡¯s Mike Carlton wrote last March at the peak of war mania, reflecting:

Call me fanciful, but they (the Columbia astronauts, my note) were emblematic of the America you desperately wish to believe in. This is the America of noble purpose, of Thomas Jefferson and Franklin Delano Roosevelt, the America of Andrew Wyeth and Robert Frost and Aaron Copeland, the America of baseball and computer whiz-kids, the America of Hollywood and Harvard, that generous America which rebuilt post-Nazi Europe with the Marshall Plan, that American Pie America where Old Glory flies, bold as a candy wrapper, above courthouses and schoolyards on Elm and Main from Rhode Island to California. Try to think of this as the cruise missiles fly.

*****
tommorrow together you will bring back the Amercia we across the world believed in...

GravatarTomorrow will be great. My majority-black neighborhood is going to be lined up around the block at the polling place. It'll be a party. Wonder if we're going to sing? Do we even know the words to MOSH? What about God Bless America? These kind of political movements are supposed to be long dead in this country. Remember. Remember that the media told you that you are silly and naive and out-of-style. Remember how they looked at us, all haughty, and derided our efforts. Sing a song of freedom tomorrow when you vote. Fuck them and Fuck the Republicans.

Never. Again.

I've said it before, but I wonder if any spooks are hacking Diebold.

GravatarPlease explain to me why anyone would give Buchannan's political wisdom any credence.
I'm reminded of a Gore Vidal article I once read in which he remembered riding with his Senator grandfather, who was recounting a conversation with William Jennings Bryant. Bryant apparently said something to the effect of "I attribute to my political success to . . . " The grandfather didn't hear the rest of sentence, having been caught up on contemplating what political success.

Gravatar There's something to be said for those Jesuit high schools.

Their whoring will continue and, given the chance, intensify as their bias and hatred spills out like pus seeping from a gangrenous leg wound. Our job has just begun. We can't let up on these talking head junior Joseph Goebbels that want to take our democracy from us.

GravatarOK, I'm going way out on a limb: When Kerry's team takes over the White House, they need to bring along video cameras to document every bit of vandalism done by the departing Repugs. Then they'll have to open up all of the windows for days just to get the smell of hypocrisy out of the building, if they don't actually have to repaint and replace the carpet.

GravatarEww, the fundie Baldwin is on, talkin' to Ron Reagan. Ron must be throwing up in his mouth a little.

GravatarWe could have annual Eschaton outings to Crowley Memorial Lake...

GravatarMSNBC sign in the crowd;
LICK BUSH AND DICK 2004

GravatarMeanwhile, in Freeperland --

"This appears to be the calm before the storm . . . I remember when Clinton was elected in 92. I was dumbfounded that the United States could be conned into voting for such fluff. . . I am now concerned that the US is going to be conned again; this time into believing that wars happen without consequence or errors in calculation, and that a pretentious asshole like Kerry is a reasonable alternative to a serious, sober personna, and honest dammit, like Bush."

On polls:

"These don't look bad. I think we finally see the late movement to Bush.."

"What has Kerry ever had to work hard for? He quit after 4 months in Vietnam when it got kinda scary and hard. He has married two wealthy women so he has never has to worry about money or actually work hard for it. As we have come to find out being a senator means never having to do any work. If a person has never had to work hard to achieve, or persevere to succeed, that person may crumble under pressure."

"What is deplorable however is the Socialist Media. America needs to do something about that immediately. The media needs to be taken back, flatly and forcefully."

"Pretty pathetic when I have to be cheered up by a Zogby poll after watching a Fox News poll say Kerry has a new lead."

"Look I recall in 2000 many skins fans were happy that Bush was elected because it meant the super bowl would soon be theirs. Because tradition held that Redskins did better under republican presidents. That had done well under Nixon, but bombed under Carter, the Reagan, Bush era was full of playoffs and superbowls for the Skins, but once Clinton came into office the team sank like a rock. Well guess what four years into W's term, and many free agents the skins still suck. I prefer sound science for my political predictions, like halloween mask sales, that means Bush wins"

GravatarYeah, Bowles is doing alright. He wasted a big lead, but his opponent is a doofus. Bowles ought to pull it out, especially with the strong Dem showing in the other races.
Oh, Patsy Keever looks like she's going to win up in the mountains, too.

Kerry by 5 million!

GravatarSteven Baldwin is looney....

GravatarStephen Baldwin is a freak!

Why is it that when his brothers speak their minds they are "loony liberals", but now that this guy has personal conversations with Jesus he's suddenly relevant?

GravatarTrying to find your polling place in Broward county? Good luck. Maybe you'll have better luck than I did.

Did you try www.mypollingplace.com?

GravatarOh wait, jesus is in charge of the election.

What a fucking deluded asswipe he is.

He thinks jesus wants bush. Ron Reagan says he's gonna pray for all sentient beings to become enlightened.

I'm in Broward as well. The Supervisor of Elections site is pretty bad... but it accurately gave me my polling location. Look for "District Information" in the left-hand sidebar, and that'll send you to the page which should tell you where to go.

If that fails, try the websites for the Herald or the Sun-Sentinel.

GravatarCentral S: I'd been saying for a while (not here, I don't usually post much) that I had not so much a conspiracy theory as a conspiracy hope, that the CIA would have at the voting machines. Hey, they have some good computer people, they overthrow regimes, and they're pissed.

Wouldn't it be something... and who'da thunk the CIA'd be the good guys, ya know?

GravatarYikes. Forgot the closing tag... Very Aquarian of me.

That last line was supposed to be...

Hey, Theri, I think this will be a good night for you.

GravatarWell Big John was in my home town tonight. We are proud here in Cleveland. We hosted the first tour stop for the Kerry-Edwards team this spring. My wife and I took ours sons, our ten year old held up his signs and our five year old waved his flags. Today Big John stood on the same spot, this time with at 60,000 to see him one last time as a senator. My ten year old told me, "we are making the world better."

OK, he's ten, but he has it down.

Things began and ended here in Cleveland, and the 400,000 new voters in North East Ohio will carry Kerry into the White House. My ten year will get to vote for Edwards for president in 2012.

Gravataranybody know the story regarding the ohio courts and the voter challenges inside the polls

i have heard conflicting stories

did the ohio supreme court make a late decision allowing this?

Gravataroops - meant to say allude(to being in pain), not elude, way back there(sheesh - one glass of cheap shiraz & I'm gettin' sloppy already)

I just got home from the orifice.
(i luv my job. i luv my job. i love my job.) I do IT support. My senior network director is a huge Chimpy/ Vader fundraiser here in Dallas.
He PRESUMED to start telling me how to be a poll watcher tomorrow, even after I told him that I had been trained by DEM attorneys for 3 hrs. yesterday. What an arrogant ass. I practically screamed at him that I would NOT be discussing it with him at any time. He just stared at me and got up and left. I may be looking for another job soon, preferably in a blue state. I've felt so embattled
here. The woman who sits next to me thinks Iraq attacked us on 9/11. The guy who sits behind me has a flyer hanging over his desk that makes fun of Kerry's purple hearts ("Bland aids") The resident blonde just says she's a 'family person.'

I left work to go to a candlelight ceremony at the campus chapel in which a few progressive faculty, staff & students read the names of those killed in Iraq - American, Brits AND Iraqis. I managed to stiff upper lip it until the damned bagpipes started playing. Then I lost it.

I can't wait for tomorrow to be over. I'm doing GOTV calls in the morning, pollwatching from 1-8p, then on to the party at Iron Horse.
hope to meet some of you there, if you reside in the area

GravatarAfter a pressing phone call from the Imperial Capitol interrupted my viewing of Sunrise at Campobello (love Greer Garson's Eleanor!), I surfed the cable channels landing on MSGOP in time to hear Tweety say, "And now my son, Tweety junior, singing 'America the Beautiful'".
I kid you not.
Scary, frightening, pathetic WalMartzian hubris and gall as only Tweety can manufacture.
I was literally aghast as the fat yellow bird's musically flat gender neutral spawn warbled while chroma-keyed over B-roll from an old station sign-on Star Spangled Banner.
As painful as a neutrino bath I could only watch a few seconds of this depth-defying new MSGOP self-promoting low. Shouldn't Child Protective Services intervene and did anyone else witness this outrage?

GravatarGuess what, folks?

Virginia might go blue!

Internal Dem Poll shows Kerry leading in VA by a point!

GravatarGhost of MLK: Yeah. They're kind of a fucked up bunch to be on the same side with on any issue. That's the twistedness of it...

GravatarTry to be Frist in line at the voting booth.

GravatarWatched the BC04 "Road to Victory" ad. This is something put together by the campaign staff, it's not a slick TV ad. I am a video editor and recognise the licensed music and the canned SFX in the ad. This was put together more as a "Thanks to the staff" tribute video. That's why all the camera angles are bad and the audio sucks.

I feel tomorrow will be one of the most important days in my life. I feel like I will be judged by my own conscience whether I have done all I can to make it happen. I have sometimes thought about praying for a Kerry win. But my beliefs tell me that I must not rely on anyone else and go out there as if I am the only one who cares this much about getting rid of Bush.

This blog has been my place of sanity. It has been heartening to know that there are others out there who haven't fallen into a coma and believe in the tragedy that has been the last four years.

I got my camcorder, my book, I might bring some extra folding chairs and stick 'em in the back of my car. I ready to wait all day at the polls if necessary.

I want my country back and I want it NOW.

MN is All Kerry.

Gravatardid the ohio supreme court make a late decision allowing this?

The case was in Federal, not state, court. Ohio Supreme Court has no say over the decision. GOP was going to appeal to 6th Circuit; haven't heard if they did, if the appeal was accepted, if any kind of stay on the lower court order was issued.

But it seems unlikely at this point.

GravatarLaunch! For MARZ!

GravatarFlorida problems are already happening.
Network news stated that around a hundred thousand absentee ballots will not be counted cause they were sent out too late.
They are also talking about how many of them will not be counted cause they were not filled in correctly, making small and trivial errors that bear no impact on the actual selections or identification of the voter, large enough errors to void their counts.
There is also word going around that there are committees counting and checking these ballots which are made up entirely of republicans.

The lawsuits will be filed soon it seems.

MYOB'
.

GravatarToday Big John stood on the same spot, this time with at 60,000 to see him one last time as a senator. My ten year old told me, "we are making the world better."

This brings back memories. In 1992, Clinton swung through McAllen, TX on election night. I took my (then) 5-yr-old with me. One huge crowd was there to see him, for only a few minutes. I had just moved back to TX and was having a hard time finding a job, bummed out about it.

Anyway, Clinton did the press the flesh thing, shook my hand and my son's. LJ spawn was just as excited as could be at that. When we were leaving, he said, "Mommy, he's a nice man. He'll get you a job."

I got one not long after Clinton was inaugurated.

GravatarRobert,

Thank you.

Gravatar"There are days I think that all of these things are decided by a committee of freemasons in a dark dungeon somewhere..."

*Duh*! According to the Illuminati paradigm, Kerry wins because he has the strongest bloodline ties to Charlemagne.

I thought you guys were SMART!

Gravatar01 Nov, Mon 128318

damn, A. props.

GravatarFlorida problems are already happening.

Greg Palast reported on Florida (again) for the BBC. The story of the vote fraud and election corruption, courtesy of Jeb and the GOP is, at present, the No. 1 news story in the world.

Except in America. Where we hear nothing at all.

SOP. The more things change,.....

GravatarIn this case, the freemasons will just pretend that our choice was really their choice, and we unwittingly followed their plan. Sort of like Osama.

GravatarThe woman who sits next to me thinks Iraq attacked us on 9/11.

...She doesn't even believe Bush on the matter? You need to tell her that Republicans vote on November 3rd this year.

GravatarIt's now officially 2 November 2004!

Happy Independance Day!

The bizarre experiment is over. Time for America to have a President in the White House again!

GravatarThere are days I think that all of these things are decided by a committee of freemasons in a dark dungeon somewhere...

Yeah, but method they use it is they're rolling dice down there. Between the bong hits.

GravatarHi guys

Did anyone watch Paula Zahn-town hall meeting with so-call undecideds.

The audience waws booing the answers from Reed- Bush/Cheney advisor. His answers were so out of touch with reality, the crowd in Florida just wasn't falling for it.

Gravatar Holy crap

GravatarCheck theleftcoaster.com

NYT says the GOP appealed in Ohio (and two different judges ruled the same way, both federal). This makes me doubt seriously the 6th Circuit will do anything tomorrow.

But similar BS is going on in Florida and maybe New Mexico.

Still, the voter turnout is gonna swamp 'em. And I think any volunteers who try to get election judges to deny the vote to individuals, are gonna face an ugly situation they won't be comfortable with.....

GravatarWell Rupert just successfully moved News Corp's headquarters from Australia to Delaware. That means News Corp (parent of Fox News) is open to more pressure from its investors and advertisers.

Gravatar"Mars, my little bitches"
although it comes from the comedy sketch
as explained above. It reminds me of the witches in MacBeth, cackling, "Boil, bubble, toil and trouble, hee hee"
It portends the evil that is about to fall upon the foe.

Carry on bitches.

GravatarI am so tired of hearing this "mars bitches!" stuff. What does it mean? What? It means Kerry is going to win? MARS MY BITCHES MARS!

It means we're going to MARS, BITCH!

GravatarI know it is too early to do this, but you can check out Jeff Greenfield at his snarky bestes in last month's Washington Monthly. He's not partisan, none of these guys are. They are slaves to the process and they love to have their own little slant on how things are going. They are sweating now not because they love Bush, but because they hate to see all their sweet little anecdotes go up in smoke.

GravatarI think I just saw Joe Scarboro walk off his own show, maybe Ron Reagan scared him.

GravatarRobW
At one time, Bush tried to use the
NASA ambition to land on Mars to
divert attention from his failed
policies. It didn't work (obviously,
if you don't remember) but it did
inspire a very funny skit by Dave
Chappelle called "Black Bush" (what
if Bush was a brotha'?) At the end,
he says "Mars, bitches!" in response
to a question about Osama Bin Laden.
Since then, it has become a beloved
mantra of the left, since Mars is
exactly where we want to send Bush
and his administration.

GravatarI thought Scarborough has a back problem and couldn't walk.

Sometimes things become more clear when my sons are with me. When they quiz me on politics and history, I fid myself sculpting away so much intellectual fancy dancing and verbal goobledy gook to get a concise, recievable message to them.

Here is another story about this election and my ten year old. On his school yard playground a petition was going around. a small commitee approached him paper and pencil in hand. "Sign this saying you are for Bush, or your name will go on a list with the terrorists."

No exaggeration.

He came home told me the story, and said, "Ahh Daddy, the futures gonna have some problems, big problems."

GravatarBush looks very bad at his rally
in Dallas. Like he's been getting
his butt kicked all day.

GravatarAnon

Thats strange, I came away with a different perspective. I thought a couple of the so-called undecideds were pro-Bush trying to get there wonderful views of Bush across. But when Reed mentioned the black caucus and the no child left behind act was working, boos were coming from everywhere. I missed the beginning of the show and only seen the last half hour.

GravatarThat dumb fuck Ron Silver said that if Kerry wins tomorrow, what mandate will that give Kerry?

He is outlining the no win scenario. If Bush wins, it is good, if Kerry wins, it will be hell because Kerry is not Bush, so therefore, we (Republicans) will not accept his legitimacy.

No surrender, no retreat.

We must do to the Right, what they are trying to do to the Left.

GravatarWow...Joe Scar looks like he's whacked out on muscle relexents or something.

Gravatar"at dawn you will all change the world, the world is holding its breath"

GravatarI agree. At times I'm pretty sure everything is controlled from some back room where about 10 people manufacture events and the media. It's the only reasonable explanation for some things.

Then again, I've never been a reasonable person. I tend to come out thinking that people and things are as they claim they are. Just more so.

GravatarRMJ, someone on the President Giblets thread had a link to a Writ Mandamus by the Ohio Supreme Court, which seemed to be doing an end run around the Fed. Court ruling banning challengers. Don't know enough about law to understand how that works, but it looked genuine.

GravatarAnyway, Clinton did the press the flesh thing, shook my hand and my son's. LJ spawn was just as excited as could be at that. When we were leaving, he said, "Mommy, he's a nice man. He'll get you a job."

The young ones can read people better. As you get older, you learn
not to trust your instincts. I remember believing that most people were honest (when in my early 20's)
Screwed a few times by a few greedy
people and I have become suspicious of most new people I meet.

GravatarDo we find out tomorrow if Mrs. Greenspan is a swallower or a spitter?

How many of the SCLM will get to stay in the press corpse after the transition? How many will be heading off to work for Brent Bozo?

Just wondering.

GravatarIf Bush wins, it is good, if Kerry wins, it will be hell because Kerry is not Bush, so therefore, we (Republicans) will not accept his legitimacy.

No surrender, no retreat.

It's okay, David. This time, we're prepared for 'em. They don't even know we've got the pipes behind our backs. All they can see? Our birkenstocks, our volvo's, our tie died shirts and our sushi-eating smiles. They don't even realize that sign we're flashing at them isn't a peace sign, but the sign that you have two seconds to leave some fucking tracks, or you're gonna take two to the head.

GravatarJoe Scarborough can use all the drugs he can get, He is going to need them after tomorrow. Can't wait to see his face.

GravatarAll the Bad News for Bush showing up this last week?
Bad news has followed him throughout his sham of a presidency. The press was trained to not criticise our fearless leader. When, finally, some Democrats broke the silence earlier this year, the light of truth started to tear away at the facade. It's the Incompetence Stupid!

Not to say this too loudly, but others had their own October Surprises ready. Bush and Rumsfeld really ticked off a lot of people in the military and intelligence community, as well spitting all over the UN and weapons inspectors. George "Burn My Bridges" Bush is getting payback for being so belligerent. The missing explosives, Powell and the military saying Iraq is getting worse, the Osama tape not held back as requested.

Bush had it coming.

MN is All Kerry

Gravatarruester,

I was just kidding! I just loved to see the whole board light up with Mars, Bitches from Black Bush. But I had to do something different!

I went out and bought Queen's Greatest hits today for the purpose of cranking "We Will Rock You" and "We Are The Champions" in violation of noise ordinances!

Gravatarmeme

i hope you are right

maybe i judged too much on the crowd seeming louder for the pro bush responses

GravatarAfter the Kerry win, the noise machine will be atwitter with "Democrat voter fraud."

One of my conservative coworkers tried to bait me into an argument about it this morning, insinuating that I voted early so I could vote again, etc. Instead of arguing, we had a nice adult discussion about how difficult it would be to actually vote multiple times and how risky it would be, and how utterly pointless it would be to have "your guy" win illegitmately if your real desire is to see the country change to your liking.

Kinda left him deflated.

GravatarKISS rocks.
Kerry was made for loving us, baby,
and we were made for loving him!

John Kerry OWNS Broward County

Gravatarzain, rest assured, we are going to stop this right-wing madness. We are the true majority.

Thanks for your support.

GravatarAnon

I'm LOL, cause you got me thinking that maybe I read the show wrong.

Anyway, we will kick butt tomorrow.

GravatarScarborough is definitely baked. I bet he reeks.

Gravatarmydd is reporting that the 6th Circuit Court in Cincinnati has reinstated the Republican challengers at the polls - bad news.

GravatarI'm up holding a sick kid. Everyone else should be in bed getting some good sleep. Wake up early and go to work...

I don't want to just win, I want to win by enough so that even THEY acknowledge we won. I want to win by enough so every American and citizen of the world wakes up on November 3 and understands that this country has repudiated the last four years.

Put your rally caps on and make it happen.

GravatarGood night all. And remember,
"The arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward justice"

GravatarMy only worry tonight is that Zogby had Kerry down 6 points in Ohio in his final tracking poll, but that, bizzarely, seems to be offset by a 4 point LV , 7point RV lead held by Kerry in the Oct. 28-31 poll taken by Gallup. He seems to be tied or up in all the latest Florida polls, to say nothing of all the early voting indicators.
I sure seems like a wrap, but I've seen America obstinately make the wrong choice so many times that a part of me is still really scared to have faith that we have finally come to our senses and will vote this monstrous little SOB out of office before he runs us off a cliff.

Somehow, I got sent a picture by the RNC of the Chimperor, smiling down beatifically from his lectern on his enraptured devotees. The photo had his signature on it and thanked me for my support. I can only guess that some wag gave a small contribution in my behalf or signed some list, just to be funny. If it involved money, I sure hope it was a very small amount. Anyway, I actually put up the photo next to my desk, so it looked like he was smiling down at me. I don't really know why I put it there. Maybe it was just to satisfy my sense of irony, or to remind me to stay angry because I had to keep looking at his smug visage day after day. Or maybe it was to remind myself that as successful as his evil machine has been at ramming its nasty agenda dsown out throats, it is not infallible. Occasionally, I'd put post-its on the photo in the talk-ballon position, containing some of his more inane sayings. Friday, of course, I put a post-it that said "four more days!". Today, I came in to work really early, lit up the bunsen burner on my bench, and carfully burned away just the lower third or so of the bottom of the photo. I then drew flames (using the assortment of colored markers that bench scientists like me always have handy) rising from the burned edge, just high enough so that they were licking over the top of his lectern.

He smiles on, but the flames are rising around him. That is what I am trying to keep in my mind tonight.

I hope with all my heart, and almost believe, that on Wednesday I can unceremoniously thow that photo in the recycling bin, as if it had never hung by my desk.

GravatarI was phoning people today too. I have 4-5 hours of volunteer work tomorrow to make sure the dems get out and vote. On the whole so far, here in Northeast PA, most dems are
excited and their entire families are
coming out to vote. Only once did I
call a dem, that actually told me she
was voting Bush because her husband likes to Duck hunt and so does Dick Cheney. I almost fell off my seat. I told her that recently Kerry went goose hunting and she wasn't aware of it. I hung up the phone shaking my head.

GravatarKerry in a landslide, media bitches!!!

Get used to the idea of a Democratic MANDATE!!!!!!

i really think so

i spent the weekend in ohio with my family (6 ex repub voters}

boy are they pissed about our fool for a president

good luck to both of us

GravatarElwood,

I just looked at that story on MyDD, and there are two updates that call that into question. They'd better figure it out soon!

GravatarBlerb,

You are some sick dude, but funny as hell. I would just put the picture out in my dog pen and have it pooped
on. But thats just me..........

GravatarMy brother is a born again/rapture/battle of Armegheddon/book of Revelations types and even he is going to vote for Kerry... after seeing F-911 and the obvious way that the rethugs are trying to turn Muslims into the new scarrier 21st century version of the "Commies"

Ford Motors here in MI give all the ppl the whole day off - like a holiday, to vote. My friend says it's about 70% for Kerry at the plant.

GravatarThis treacherous little shit in the White House has finally had his luck run out. It will be justice. This will be the best holiday season in years. Imagine the concesion speech ... the crow-eating of the pundits ... the scum SCLM ... the thought of rumsfeld, Rice, Rove, Ashcroft CLEANING OUT THEIR OFFICES WHILE KERRY PICKS THEIR REPLACEMENTS ... Inauguration Day (I've already reserved my room in DC). I will weep real tears of joy tomorrow night, and I'm a big strong man of 53! Joy to us all!

GravatarAnon

I do feel good about this election, I think Kerry will win by more than
expected. I expect to be celebrating
tomorrow. I also know a lot of repubs voting for Kerry or not voting at all.

Gravatar"special" Faux correspondent most likely to suck up:

Fred Barnes: "these tracking polls are nonsense. no one belives that!" comparison needed. +3 Bush hasn't changed, the Incumbent Rule is a Big Lie. "the 72 hour plan works spectacularly well."

Mara: "nobody knows. butt maybe new young voters without landlines will win it. nobody knows, it only takes a small subset to decide this election."

Mort: Incumbent Rule is trumped by 51% Incumbent Approval Rating (nota bene, this metric is new to me) "The Bush ground game is gonna be better..it sort of reminds you of Chicago..."

what are the rules on political banners on public school properties?

Gravatarmeme -- speaking of poop

I have had people call the headquarters and say, "I just had my Kerry sign stolen/ripped/etc, can I have another?"

When they come in, I tell them to grease the top of the sign with vaseline so the vandals cannot get a grip. I ask them, "Do you have a dog?" If they do, I instruct them to collect all the dog doo out of thier backyard and put it on the ground around thier Kerry sign. Most of them get a chuckle, and many really do follow through.

I have this little day dream about some repuke driving to work in the morning with his car smelling like dog shit. helps me with rush-hour

GravatarGot to go, have a very busy day tomorrow. I feel like tomorrow is xmas and I am hoping to open a gift

Thank you Democratic Santas!

I personally wouldn't put a banner

I believe public schools should
remain non-partisan, unlike the
christo-fascist Reaganites who
ran my schools down here in TX and
brain washed us into opposing our
own civil rights. Just my opinion.

Gravatarre: CNN's "shift"...

Atrios may be right. I saw Tucker Carlson earlier (on Anderson Cooper's horrifyingly lame show) saying that he thought Kerry was going to WIN...

GravatarSheik,

Just caught you comment, and that idea rules. LOL! We actually had
more Bush/Cheney signs magically disappear than Kerry/Edwards signs.

Gravatarquick question to all

what are the rules on political banners on public school properties?

No can do,

OT - our local schools turned down the request made by the Bush camp to have our band play for W last Thurs. They had to ask other nearby suburbs. HA! - and this is a district that went 70% Bush in 2000.

Gravatarfuck I can't sleep. This is my first election in the US. I came to this country just over a year ago and I am already completely swept off. WOW.. I bow to the power of Eschaton

GravatarMars, bitches

GravatarBuchanan basically just called it
for Kerry. Only the seventh trumpet
remains...

GravatarWhen I go into the voting booth tomorrow morning, I'll mentally project my imperious bitch routine toward W. The imperious bitch routine, which I mastered twenty years ago, infallibly reduces ignorant little snots to ignorant little snivellers. (It's especially effective on ignorant little snots masquerading as grown men.) W doesn't have a chance. He'll feel that ray of imperious bitchness coming in the window and he'll shiver and start snivelling. Since I'm working from a distance, there might be a time delay -- but it'll happen. Watch for it!

MARS!!!!

GravatarIT'S NOT OVER YET

GOTV!!!!!!

GravatarLJ, I'm of exactly the same mind.

The battle begins November 3, no matter who wins or if no one wins. It's going to get ugly. But this time, we're going to get there first.

If Kerry wins, the media goes down. Surely your favorite Bushlickers have an awkward secret in their past, something sexual, degrading and career-ending. Or they work for a company with dodgy ratings that would be devastated by an advertiser boycott. All we need to do focus all our attention, like we did with Sinclair, and pick them off one at a time.

And when his term starts, we're not going to let him be derailed in the first week like "gays in the military" for Clinton. Instead, we'll spend the first six months pumping Republican scandals, the way they did with Clinton pardons.

If Bush wins, no quarter will be given. Our goal: Congress in '06, impeachment in '07.

We will not stop, not ever, not until we have ruined lives, destroyed careers and made the bastards pay.

GravatarTired? Run Atrios' search for fake Schwarzkopf tape news articles and email the papers not to run them. Nothing like a little fact checking on the last night to keep your spirits up!

We the people are awake.

Gravatarfuckin' Mars. Right on...I'm there.

Gravatarok...kerry wins...we still got delay's house to contend with. we keep organized after tomorrow and take over the house and senate. and then we can give the other america the attention that has been so much neglected. and 500 billion for defense??? it is time to get real and stop fighting the cold war. remember general/president eisenhower warned us in his last speech about the dangers of the military-industrial complex. no other country on earth comes even close to 500 billion for defense. and hey, we have oceans on each side and canada to the north and mexico to the south. this defense money is mostly to protect big oil. push hard for alternative energy. imagine what we could do with half the defense budget freed up. the left has amazed everyone this year. but its only the start of a grander vision of what could be if we continue working together.

Ohio: Back to the Future

http://www.mysterypollster.com/main/

Got this link from Joshua Micha Marshall - Mark Blumenthal a pollster who lets inside his world and the truth.

Important read - Kerry may, er WILL! take Ohio....

Gravatar...I hadn't even thought about going to D.C. for the inaguration. That sounds like a really cool idea -- I've never been to an inaguration before, and if there's ever been one to attend it's this one. On the sports metaphor tip, then, that will be my visualization. I picture myself in D.C., Kerry being sworn in as President, with all my friends who've moved to the East Coast.

I also envision a Republican party that gets a clue and gets its soul back from the crazies on the far right. We need a variety of opinions, but I'd prefer those be well-informed, principled opinions and not talking points. So, that's my second visualization for this election -- the Republicans get their brains back.

GravatarI see in Boston they are building a special platform for Kerry to come out on to make
his acceptance speech. When I saw the carpenters working on that I thought to myself:
They must know they are going to win.
It was not until this evening that it sunk in that we could win and win big.

GravatarThere are days I think that all of these things are decided by a committee of freemasons in a dark dungeon somewhere...

--There are days when the same thought occurs to me as well. I mean, even Tony Blair has sent out an emissary to the Kerry camp. Why would he do so if he didn't have a sense of a certain outcome in this election?

--What is probably really happening, though, is that these seasoned political and media whores' surival instincts are so well honed that they can sense a change in the political winds that are currently blowing . . . and they are adjusting their words accordingly. After all, they don't want to be caught with Bush's dick in their mouths if and when the new Administration comes in.

--And speaking of our lying, whore media, I wonder if Kerry, should he win, is going to take any positive steps to diminish the one-sided and dishonest corporate control of the airwaives. After what the media did to Clinton, and after the past years of their sucking Bush's cock and deluding the American people, he'd be quite foolish if he doesn't recognise that a big problem exists . . . and that it can just as easily come along and bite him on the ass if he doesn't do something about it.

GravatarSO true prophet...

Gravatar"Rumsfailed, You're Fired!"

--That's not enough for me. I want to see him and the rest of his fellow thugs in jail.

--Probably will never happen, though. It goes against the expected script of the winner on election day: "To those people who opposed us, we say 'Come and joing us as we work together to restore America blah, blah, blah, blah . . . " Consistent with this script, if Kerrry wins, he'll probably be content to sweep the past four years of Bush-Cheney incompetence, corruption, and criminality under the rug and not air out all the dirty laundry for the public to see.

--Big mistake. Clinton did the same thing when he was first elected when he chose not to deal with the criminality of Reagan-Bush I. Thus, he didn't go after these guys and their fellow gangsters for the crimes they committed during the previous 12 years.

--A lot of good that did him, and the rest of the Democratic Party.

Amen, brother. We have our work cut out for us during the next two years. The next political goals should be: 1) Holding Kerry's feet to the fire regarding such initiatives; 2) Taking back the Congress, and: 3) making sure that progressive and courageous progressives start getting the major positions within the Democratic Party.

GravatarI already voted. It's going to be Kerry - BIG! I don't believe it's even close. The media has been lying about everything for a really long time now; and they have lied about the polls also.

And hey, where I am it's all conservative all the time. I watch what I say to people for fear of seeming "other" (non christian, liberal, etc). It's totally fucked up.

But when people go to vote - it's a solo effort. Even conservatives have to understand that Bush has run a huge fucking deficit to pay himself and his buddies off. Call me crazy, but I think conservatives will not easily vote a man back into office if he spends their fucking money. It's all about their money. Their taxes, etc. The ones that aren't christian fanatics care A LOT about the money numbers.

Kerry - BIG!

Anything else, and I swear I will not believe the election was legit.

Gravatarwho is bill schneider?

GravatarI sadly admit that I have spent the last four years hating George W Bush.
But tonight when I saw his face I felt sorry for the man. He looked tired, sad
and teary eyed.
I used to think Bush was a really evil guy who didn't allow a nation to heal after 9-11
because it was not in his political interest to do so. I also thought he was a stupid man that sent our troops
to their death in Iraq and also killed 100,000 Iraqis just becasue he could. Now I am not so sure.
I see Bush a little like Forrest Gump now. I think he was a weak man and the real evil doers like Cheney and Wolfman
talked Bush into very dangerous plans. Just one look at Bush's face and you know that he does indeed feel the pain of the dead soldiers and he also knows he made a lot of mistakes but Rove most likely tells him to shut up about them.
For the first time, I see Bush as a basically good man who was used by the people around him. Instead of " evil" I see Bush as an
incompetent little boy trying to be a " big man" like Dad.
I tell you this because when Sen. Kerry wins tonight I will feel no glee in the pain that Mr. Bush will feel being dismissed
by a nation that he wanted to serve. My affection for Sen. Kerry has grown ten fold in these last few weeks and as my faith in Kerry began to soar my hatred of Bush began to diminish. Perhaps the biggest thing the election of 2004 has taught me is that nothing really is black or white. My vote is not out of dislike for Bush but a true leap of faith in a man that showed courage under fire all his life...John F Kerry.
And you know what? I think many Americans feel more positive about Sen.Kerry...and I think many who will not vote for him think that if Kerry loses he will have fought the good fight.

So I think Kerry and Bush fought it out and fought it out hard but in the end, the best man would prevail.
I will be crying tears of joy as I see Presdient-Elect Kerry in Boston giving his acceptance speech tonight...and I will have no bitterness of malice
in my heart, only hope for my family and my country.
We need to be one nation again and I have faith that will happen with a fresh start.
For weeks to come the media will ask:
Why did Kerry win?
TEHY WERE STARVED FOR HOPE AND A CHANCE TO HEAL
God Bless & VOTE!

Gravatar"Which wingnut/mediawhore will you most enjoy watching suck up a Kerry victory?"

Cal Thomas

GravatarFreemasons? Trust me, Atrios. If the Freemasons were rigging elections, Gore would've won in 2000. We tend to enjoy democracy - after all, some of our brethren helped found the USA.

Looking forward to a big Kerry win, even if I do live up here in Canada.

Gravatar"Just one look at Bush's face and you know that he does indeed feel the pain of the dead soldiers and he also knows he made a lot of mistakes but Rove most likely tells him to shut up about them.

"I tell you this because when Sen. Kerry wins tonight I will feel no glee in the pain that Mr. Bush will feel being dismissed>"

--Hmmmm. Interesing thoughts. I wonder if you could, with a straight face, voice those seniments to the friends and families of the (apparently) tens of thousands of people that Bush's policies and fuck ups have killed? Or how about to those who have been permanently maimed through his policies, as in having permanently lost limbs, or eyes, or genitals, or some other body part.

--I'm sorry, but I can feel no compassion for this son of a bitch. The guy should go before a war crimes tribunal, and the sooner, the better.

GravatarI tell you this because when Sen. Kerry wins tonight I will feel no glee in the pain that Mr. Bush will feel being dismissed by a nation that he wanted to serve.

With all due respect, fuck that for a lark. To paraphrase Alexander Pope, you shouldn't be condemned for trying something and failing at it; but rather, for refusing to acknowledge your failure and continue failing.

Bush never knew his limitations, or at least never acknowledged them. And that was just fine for his handlers.

You want to forgive Bush when he concedes? Wait and see the number of pardons he issues on January 19th, designed to ensure that the BushCo miscreants never face the music. You'll hate him again, I promise.

GravatarSaw Santorum on the news tonight. He looked sad like he just lost his dog or something.

OH SNAP!!!

GravatarI don't know how many of you had a chance to see "Going Upriver"...

As a rule I'm pretty wary of movies, art, music, public figures, etc if it seems they might be tugging too insistently or too readily on the heartstrings of their audience. I'm also going to preface myself here by saying that I'm allergic to parades and all other ostentatious public displays of patriotism; and Bob Dylan's advice about "don't follow leaders" has been a long standing guiding light in my personal philosophy.

And although I've admired John Kerry as a decent enough seeming liberal-to moderate Democrat for a while now, and I've certainly been backing him in this election with my vote, my checkbook and my voice, I was a bit sceptical about how the film "Going Upriver" might turn out to be a puff piece, a too-obvious heart string tugger, etc.

To put it mildly, my fears were unfounded.

In the back of our minds maybe were aware of some of the things that make John Kerry who and what he is, and much of his personal story could be told more or less the same way for thousands and thousands of young men who came of age in the cultural and political upheaval of the 1960's.

But "Going Upriver" puts it so completely into focus. If even 10% of the young man that John Kerry was at the age of 27 remains in his spirit, in his heart, and in his mind, we're on the verge of electing one of the best men ever to serve as president of this country.

It's such a priviledge to vote for a person as good, as intelligent, as qualified, as principaled, and as tempered by hard truths as is John Kerry; and I think we have a chance, *today*, right now, to go a very long way toward redeeming the shame of so much of our recent history.

Also I want to add that I'm so much in awe of the work you guys here at Eschaton, as well as over at Kos's site, and so many other weblogs and hangouts on the "internets" have been doing these past several months.

When I was a kid of 16 I went to door to door campaigning for another good and principaled man running for President in a pivotal American election, Senator George McGovern. Sadly this country wasn't strong enough in 1972 to rebuke Richard Nixon and the war he and his ilk insisted on perpetrating on us all. A great opportunity was lost and a terrible price was paid because of it.

This time, thanks in part to so many of you, we are strong enough! ...and this time we're going to get it right!

GravatarBush is intellectually unprepared.

John Gielgud as Hobson in Arthur: "I shall alert the media."

GravatarWell, we can't get all huggy and reconcialiatory and let's-work-together with anybody but ourselves right off the bat. But even sticking to that group will still give us the majority of Americans.

It won't give us the House or the True Fanatical Zealots for Bush, though. And for them, I do devoutly hope we follow

GravatarPaul Krugman's advice:

So, my column to Kerry, my open letter to him if he wins, will be: Do not be magnanimous. You need to expose and dismantle this machine.

EXPOSE AND DISMANTLE THE MACHINE.

GravatarThere are days I think that all of these things are decided by a committee of freemasons in a dark dungeon somewhere...

It's more complicated than that, but you've got it in spirit.

GravatarNodeofEvil, you definitely want to go to DC for the inauguration. Oh, how well I remember standing out in the cold with pro-choice signs along the Clinton first inaugural route. It felt SO good! Odds are I won't be able to get any tickets to a ball this time (last time I knew a guy who ended up working as a political appointee to interior, so he got tickets to the one at Union Station), but I'll stand along Pennsylvania Avenue in the cold for hours upon hours to see John Kerry inaugurated.

If Rove knows it, then the hellfires of ratfuckery will be released today. Gravatar"Which wingnut/mediawhore will you most enjoy watching suck up a Kerry victory?"

The dynamic duo Judy Woodruff/ Wolf Blitzer.

They should go down with the ship: everyone should remind them often of their whoring for Bush for the last four years.

GravatarHere is Glenn Reynold's ringing endorsement of bush 08:05 AM:

VIRGINIA POSTREL endorses Bush in terms that I completely agree with:

[Last Paragraph]

Voting is an expressive activity, but it need not be emotional. Andrew Sullivan's invocation of "The deep emotional bond so many of us formed with the president back then" does not apply to me. Bush leaves me cold and always has. I never wanted to hang out with him, so I don't take our policy differences personally. I never idolized his leadership, so I don't feel he's failed me. He gets my vote in part because I don't identify with him. He's just a hired hand, and he's better than the alternative.

And if you believe that last comment...

Spoken like a true hater. He never did you any harm, you just hate him for the (D) after his name, because you've pledged your loyalty to people who will never know you exist (nor ever would care if they knew-- you're on their side, but they're not on yours) and they've relayed down to you the order to hate him, for no reason at all.

He's not the Messiah, he's a very naughty boy! No, sorry, that was Clinton, I'll start again.

He's not the Messiah, he's just a man who loves his country enough to take all this shit for it.

If we wins tomorrow (and you sure sound like you believe it) everyone knows he'll have to fight through all that shit for four to eight years. Presidentin' really is hard work; they didn't laugh at Bush because it isn't, they laughed because Bush wouldn't work hard when his country needed him to.

GravatarThere are days I think that all of these things are decided by a committee of freemasons in a dark dungeon somewhere...

Not the Freemasons, the Stonecutters

Suprised no-one else has made this reference yet.
