I'MMA LET YOU FINISH

GravatarWooo!

GravatarThat's the official network of the Republican party for you! Traitors, all!

GravatarI'm sure it was glee all around in the Fox Newsroom today.

Now they can recall Geraldo from Aruba.

GravatarYet the Democrats will be condemned for "politicizing" this. Just wait.

GravatarHave not posted because I have no feelings on this, beyond the usual; but this statement seems preposterous.

My sympathies to the Brits. My sympathies to Americans who will now be brow beaten into submission.

GravatarLondon Terrorist Attack "Works to our Advantage"

Well, at least they're honest about it. Rare, I know.

GravatarWe are winning becuase they are bombing trains in London.

Take that Osama!

.

GravatarThey don't even pretend these are real anymore, do they?

Gravatarnothing to bring people together like a couple hundred innocent deaths.

What an asshole.

(and notice - these are the guys who're convinced attacking Iraq will divide Iraqis, not unite them in say, support for a resistance to occupation. But I guess them brown people's all different and stuff...)

GravatarYou can't win against the soulless.

GravatarIts not terror, its an opportunity!

GravatarFaux News can go fuck itself as well with a rusty screwdriver/

GravatarTiny blogwhore: over at Madame Poissoniere's, you may post your condolences to the people of Britain. I will turn these messages over to the British consulate.

That is all.

GravatarUp is down and right is left! This is good news? Go suck off Ailes, Kilmeade!

GravatarMy sympathies to Americans who will now be brow beaten into submission.

Which Americans?

GravatarRepublicans love terrorist attacks.

Now, when is this fuck gonna apologize for this insane statement?

GravatarI...
wanna be...
Pataki!!!

GravatarHave they forgotten Spain already?

Gravatar"Our" meaning the Right, naturally, not "all of us"...
-

GravatarWhat a lot of pressure to put on London. Don't they have enough to deal with today, without being made responsible for our emotional intimacy?

Narcsisstic bastards.

A.

GravatarI repeat the same thing I said at 8AM this morning:

Is it 5PM yet?

And who's pouring?

GravatarTerror good!

Is Fox saying Chimpy planted those bombs between bicycle spills?

GravatarNeocons love terrorism. It suits their purposes perfectly.

Ghoulish wanker fucks.

GravatarVOODOO FOX NEWS!!
37 DEAD IS AN ADVANTAGE??
TACITUS TITTY POWER

GravatarFaux News's staff do not have their brain's connected to their mouths.

GravatarIn all fairness to Fox (bleah), it looks like what he's saying is that it "works to our advantage" that the G8 leaders were gathered nearby when it happened. Not that the attack itself was a good thing.

He's still a tool, of course.

Gravatar Yet the Democrats will be condemned for "politicizing" this. Just wait.

haven't we all morning, pretty much?

GravatarWonder if any of the resources that went into the Iraq debacle would be better deployed elsewhere. Seems to me that the F22, the Seawolf sub and bunker-busting nukes, just off the top of my head, aren't of much help in these situations either.

If you want peace, work for justice.

GravatarAnd who's pouring?
Richard Cranium |

You can't handle vermouth!

(praise be to whoever made that little joke yesterday)

GravatarI'd call them rat bastards, but it is an insult to both rats and bastards.

GravatarFT:

n the US, the attacks in the heart of London can therefore be expected to encourage the likes of Karl Rove, Mr Bush's chief political adviser, to draw contrasts between woolly-minded Democrats who focus on the causes of terrorism rather than the self-styled realist Republicans who are determined to triumph in a war without mercy against radical Islamic fundamentalism.

GravatarYou are all aware that the Israeli embassy received a warning call ahead of time?

They warned the Israeli embassy, but didn't bother to tell London commuters?

GravatarWE CANNOT HAVE A TERROR GAP

Mein Fuhrer, I CAN WALK!
-

Gravatar I repeat the same thing I said at 8AM this morning:

Is it 5PM yet?

And who's pouring?

hear hear. i feel i am in the only one in this building that gives a shit about this.

Gravatarstrike the first "in"...

GravatarI wonder if Tony Blair has been telling his people that they're fighting the terrorists in Iraq so they don't have to fight them at home.

GravatarSome halfwit crusader must have said "Bring it on."
Mission Accomplicated.

Gravatar(banging forehead on desk)

GravatarDamn Hell O Scan!

Pie, the ones who will be brow beaten are the same sheeple who voted for the Terror from Texas in the first place.

GravatarMaybe the flypaper is now in Britain. I'm sure Fox views this attack as a triumph of our strategery. The "better them than us" plan.

GravatarAlzo loyal zitzens, dee dun dun dun dunn you haf ben hearingk on the radio (vich of course you haf not been hearingk because it is forbidden!), is not morse code for "V"!
Or, it is morse code for "v", but that stands for Victory On All Fronts!

GravatarRichard--seeing as it's 7.40 pm in London, and we're all Brits today, we should raise a toast.

People in Britain intend to carry on business as usual, trains allowing, tomorrow.

GravatarFox News appears to have buried the needle on the Scumbag-o-meter. I can't believe they did that.

I consider that news channel dirt under my shoes.

GravatarYes sirree, those Brits sure have no experience with terrorism, what with their occupation of Northern Ireland having been such a peaceful endeavor.

GravatarPut on the BBC News if you got it, it is not perfect but it is a little saner. WE let the terrorists win if we make terrorism the front burner issue rather than those things that the G8 is there to deal with.

GravatarThat FOX News should be "Immoral/whack-job Central" should really not disturb anyone.

What SHOULD disturb everyone is that FOX is popular with a significantly large portion of the American people.

GravatarBlogwhored this below, but I think it Bears* repeating:

Andrew Sullivan, Sep. 6, 3003:

Far more advantageous to fight terror using trained soldiers in Iraq than trying to defend civilians in New York or London.

*Yes, that was a pun.

Gravatarit looks like what he's saying is that it "works to our advantage" that the G8 leaders were gathered nearby when it happened.

Does this asshole think that any of them are going to change their minds and decide Bush is RIGHT at this juncture?

Jeebus, these people are clueless.

GravatarWE CANNOT HAVE A TERROR GAP

I think one of those just opened up at the local mall, right next to Baby Gap.

GravatarWhile the British police are involved in a long, plodding investigation, the Pentagon has dispensed with all that rubbish and has already started pointing fingers:

7 July 2005; 12:54 ET: Preliminary reports from a source inside the Pentagon indicate that one of the operatives involved in this morning's bombings in London was recently released from the prison at Guantanamo. DEVELOPING…

GravatarMove along now.

Please forgive the carnage and hypocrisy... We'll have it all cleaned up in no time.

Gravatar The airport security checks will become even more rigorous, the police presence on the streets more intrusive. Washington will look even more like a capital under siege. The pressure on civil liberties will increase all in the name of national security.

Mr Bush's conviction is that the vigorous prosecution of the war on terror is a historic mission. After the terrible events in London, he can feel vindicated.

(from the same FT story)
hmmm...

GravatarYou all know the right wingers are just really upset this didn't happen in France. They want France to hurt so that France will be sorry for crossing us.

None of these countries will ever understand Bush until they get attacked, too. That's the idea.

GravatarPhotos of the London Explosion

In Pictures: London Blast

GravatarIf you want peace, work for justice.

But how is that going to provide no-bid contracts to Haliburton?
/cheney

Gravatar Richard--seeing as it's 7.40 pm in London, and we're all Brits today, we should raise a toast.

Damn the boss. His liquor cabinet is locked.

GravatarThat's still only like 30% as fucked up as the Joe Scarborough column you posted about how "every terror attack only makes Bush stronger."

It's kind of fucked up that terrorist murders are to Bush what spinach is to Popeye.

Gravatarwell, just remember that these are the same people who put the bombing of baghdad to the sounds of classical music.

GravatarHey right wing trolls.

We NEED you in this fight against terror.

Please, oh please, enlist NOW!!!

GravatarLet's start hitting these fuckers at Fox where they live: advertising. We need to boycott or threaten to boycott every advertiser until Kilmeade attempts a half-hearted apology. Correct if I'm wrong, but did any European country state that it was a "wonderful" that U.S. was attacked on 9-11? Motherfuckers!

GravatarYes sirree, those Brits sure have no experience with terrorism, what with their occupation of Northern Ireland having been such a peaceful endeavor.

Once again, try to imagine a British PM during the troubles using language about the Irish as inflammatory as Bush's term "Crusade" or the way the right speaks in general about a culture war between "Islam" and "the west".

"In the grand tradition of William of Orange we will crush these Papist barbarians."

People would have LITERALLY concluded he was insane, wrapped him in a straight jacket and put him away for examination.

GravatarI even saw that idea in the Nation. Re: The Power of Nightmares. That the creator of that documentary wouldn't "understand" that al-Qaeda was a real global threat until England suffered too.

We just love to hang this over other people's heads.

GravatarRichard--his may be locked, but Moe Szyzlak left the bar open for all of us.

GravatarAfter the terrible events in London, he can feel vindicated.

Thank god for that. At least those innocent people didn't die in vain; the ghouls in BushCo can stick their scaly hands up the asses of the corpses and have another Grand Guignol puppet show for their mouthbreathing wingnut audience. Bravo!

Gravatarwhat right has Faux News to be so callous?

GravatarHow amazing -- and incredibly patronizing. Like the British don't know what it's like to live with the threat of terrorism (or, for that matter, being bombed). I was there 10 years ago on an extended business trip, and I'll tell you what, they were aware of the threat of terrorism. It was Americans who didn't get it. Oh, as an aside of not much significance (except, perhaps, to me) I used to get on the train at the Russell Square station every morning.

GravatarHey yeah, it will take the biggest looming disaster in the history of humankind off the front burner. Oh, and for all those dark people dying by the millions in Africa, why are we even talking about them?

Thank God for Faux News. They show just how clueless and crass the wingnuts can be........

GravatarSWR--being descended from Catholic parents from Belfast, I have no respect for Oliver Cromwell.

GravatarHey, all.

Proof positive that these soulless fucks deserve to be in the docket with BushCo when the ICC and the Hague finally catch up with them. Mass murder is not a fucking negotiating strength.

Gravatar7 July 2005; 12:54 ET: Preliminary reports from a source inside the Pentagon indicate that one of the operatives involved in this morning's bombings in London was recently released from the prison at Guantanamo. DEVELOPING…

That's the biggest load of crap in the history of the world. "Preliminary reports" are nothing in moments like this--the Brits are still dusting for prints, for crying out loud.

GravatarHoly fucking fuckshit that might be the sickest shit I've heard from a Fox shill ever.

Fuck these people. I'd seriously like to slap that fucker's lips til they split open and bleed his cold green blood all over his red white and blue fucking tie.

The sight of that fucker weeping like an infant as he stares down at his dirty suit would "work to my advantage."

GravatarThose people are idiots. Idiots and scumbags. Millions dying as a result of poverty in Africa, and the end of life as we know it on this planet both pale in consideration of something that might boost bush's numbers. Of course.

GravatarWonder what the British reaction will be to this example of American solidarity? If any?

GravatarIt's kind of fucked up that terrorist murders are to Bush what spinach is to Popeye.

I disguise my error
with each act of terror
I'm Chimpeye the failure man!!

GravatarOh, and FYI, "source inside the Pentagon" is reporter shorthand for "Don Rumsfeld."

GravatarSWR--being descended from Catholic parents from Belfast, I have no respect for Oliver Cromwell.

My whole point. The word "Cromwell" has the same effect on you that "Crusade" has on a Muslim.

GravatarIsrael, who else?

GravatarNolo--Monsieur was in Manchester in 1995, and had just left the shopping mall that was bombed there. He said that Manchester, while clearly upset, was quite calm about the whole thing.

Gravatarthis will be merely the opening salvo by these fucktards.

dead Africans? feh!
destroying the planets oxygen supply? let the grandkids worry about that, not our problem.

al- qaeda, now there's a real problem that benefits "us" in ways Frank Luntz can really do something with.

idiots.

GravatarIt puts the Number 1 issue right back on the front burner right at the point where all these world leaders are meeting. It takes global warming off the front burner. It takes African aid off the front burner. It sticks terrorism and the fight on the war on terror, right up front all over again.

A few more of these, and I might just start buying into the conspiracy theories about 9/11 and the Bush admin.

GravatarPreliminary reports from a source inside the Pentagon indicate that one of the operatives involved in this morning's bombings in London was recently released from the prison at Guantanamo.

oh what a co-inkydink.

imagine that.

GravatarFrom powerline today about the so-called "israeli knowledge" of the attacks"

I'd be surprised if left-wing and anti-Semitic groups don't seize on the incorrect early report to spin out idiotic conspiracy theories, just as they did with no provocation in connection with the Sept. 11 attacks.

Um, folks, it was RIGHT-WING and NEO-NAZI groups that were proposing these scenarios, NOT the left wing.

Sorry to break it to you.

By the way, michelle "ping-pong ball shooter" malkin-magalangadingdong has been posting comments from the "left-wing" internets as if to say "it's the lefts fault"

She's so fucking disgusting. Why can't we just send her to an internment camp.

GravatarIt's interesting, but I have been predicting on and off for the past year that the Bushies would probably allow another terrorist attack to occur to revive his sagging poll numbers, and to get Americans behind the idea of a draft.

But then it was pointed out to me by someone else that such a terrorist attack as the one I posited would likely not happen in the U.S., but would probably occur in Britain, as the downside to such an event happening in the United States would probably work against the Bush Administration.

Hmmmmmm.

GravatarDemocrats who focus on the causes of terrorism rather than the self-styled realist Republicans who are determined to triumph in a war without mercy against radical Islamic fundamentalism.

So far the Republican approach appears to have done nothing but play into the hands of the terrorists. Bush has done everything bin Laden hoped he would do after 9/11. The very concept of having a war against a tactic (terrorism) or a mindset (fundamentalism) is absurd.

Sooner or later it will become obvious to all except for the most ignorant and delucsional that Bush's "war on terra" is counter productive and a more pragmatic and effective approach is needed.

Gravatar"Works to our advantage." Jesus fucking christ. They have no shame, no conscience. The narcissism alone is appalling, not even touching on the politics.

Gravatar~Gets up from desk. Walks over to wall. Removes diplomas from wall. Bangs head against wall. Walks back to desk. Sits back down. Wipes blood off of face. Resumes typing.~

GravatarNope, doesn't sound insensitive at all.

Gravatarhis comments ought to be forwarded to one of those brit tabloids. oh shit, nevermind (slaps forehead), they all belong to rupert!

GravatarSWR--you could make my da apoplectic with the phrase 'Ulster Protestant.'

GravatarYep...Yep...Yep

My "Eye-Rack as Flypaper" strategery is working like a two-steppin' Texas charm.

You betcha.

Now watch this drive.

GravatarNone of these countries will ever understand Bush until they get attacked, too.

Does Spain *understand* Bush?

Yes. They understand that he's a stupid moron who launched an illegal war, which most of the world did not support. That attitude has only gotten stronger.

GravatarBuy the conspiracy theories?

Are you insane?

Are you suggesting that Bush would send thousands of Americans to death in an unethical and criminal enterprise engineered to serve the GOP's power and enrich his cronies!?

I can't believe he'd do anything like that.

Y'know something, though? If it turns out to be true, then it only shows how useless and inefficient Gitmo is -- either they couldn't find anything on a guy with a history of terrorism, or their "restful, relaxing care" created a new terrorist out of an innocent man.

GravatarYet the Democrats will be condemned for "politicizing" this.

I honestly don't care if it's John Warner or John Kerry, I just want someone in power to stand up and scream that they've had enough of letting these incompetent fools create a world of shit with their warmongering. It should be game fucking over for these idiots. How much more convincing do the adults in Congress need that this is one gigantic clusterfuck that is pretty much 100% the administration's doing?

Works to our advantage? People are dead thanks to the joyride Halibushcheney took the country on. FUCK YOU FOX!

GravatarI don't have a problem with the statement in itself. After all, to refocus our attention on ACTUALLY fighting terror instead of just shooting at people in Iraq would be a bad thing. Problem is, if it's meant to drum up support over Iraq, its just yet another non-sequitur.

GravatarHecate--first, thank you for not destroying the diplomas; I know how hard you worked for them.

Second, you need a drink. (Pushes a double Stoli martini across Hecate's desk).

GravatarSallyh, I know what you mean. The British, while they had plenty of security measures in place, certainly weren't the type to lose their cool over these things either.

GravatarRev. Fred "Thank God for 9/11" Phelps is smiling quietly to himself right about now...

GravatarBy the way, michelle "ping-pong ball shooter" malkin-magalangadingdong has been posting comments from the "left-wing" internets as if to say "it's the lefts fault"

She's so fucking disgusting. Why can't we just send her to an internment camp.

She's fucking insane. The whack-job bitch is just Ann Coulter Lite with a different hairstyle. Fuck her. Who gives a rat's ass what she thinks? If the Brits pull out of Iraq because of this she'll be calling them cowards and demanding reparations from the War of 1812.

The cunt can go suck ass.

GravatarMr Bush's conviction is that the vigorous prosecution of the war on terror is a historic mission. After the terrible events in London, he can feel vindicated.

Yes, it's all about the "vindication." Because God forbid Dear Leader be shown to be the utter and complete failure that he is.

GravatarMaybe, just maybe, if they continue to flog this sort of theme, it'll turn around and bite them in the crotch like the whole Terri Schiavo atrocity.

GravatarBy the way, michelle "ping-pong ball shooter" malkin-magalangadingdong has been posting comments from the "left-wing" internets as if to say "it's the lefts fault"

She's so fucking disgusting. Why can't we just send her to an internment camp.
Jack - Fortified with THC | Email | Homepage | 07.07.05 - 2:50 pm

Nah. Reunion of internment camp survivors.

GravatarSo far the Republican approach appears to have done nothing but play into the hands of the terrorists.

Repeat this until everyone who has a brain and a lick of sense gets it.

GravatarThe cunt can go suck ass.

Ditto!

GravatarWhat he actually said was that it's advantageous for the leaders at the G-8 summit to be together during the attacks. Admittedly, it's not the brightest thing to say and certainly one of the stupidest ways to say it, but it's not as purely idiotic as it might have been.

GravatarSo FOX NEWS is behind the London attacks? Way to think poll numbers for the shithead brigade that Murdoch commands.

Gravatari meant "wouldn't"

GravatarYou dumb liberals. The fact that they're attacking only shows the terrorists desperation. And if they stopped attacking, that would show what a great job the President was doing in stamping out terrorism. So bomb or not bomb, it's definitely a win-win situation for Bush all the way.

GravatarShe's so fucking disgusting. Why can't we just send her to an internment camp.
i'm sure she wouldn't mind it too much, if it was for national security.

Gravatarhttp://www.homelandsecurityus.com

filkertom, nice.

GravatarIs that headline better or worse than the following garbage?

There Are No Moderate Republicans 2
The Stalinist Right
America: Still Better Than Murdering Head Chopping Terrorists!
America: Still Better Than Nazi Germany!
America: Still Better Than Stalin
George Bush's America
Fred Hiatt's America

James Taranto's America
There Are No Moderate Republicans 1
Things the Right Wing Believes
Fuck Tom Friedman

GravatarActually. While it may have been hard to decipher, that's pretty much exactly what George Bush said in his response to the attacks this morning. He studdered out something like 'now instead of focusing on the enironment and world poverty, this will hopefully put the emphasis where it belongs, on the war on terror.'

GravatarMy whole point. The word "Cromwell" has the same effect on you that "Crusade" has on a Muslim.

Or 'Sherman' to a Southerner.

GravatarDemocrats who focus on the causes of terrorism rather than the self-styled realist Republicans who are determined to triumph in a war without mercy against radical Islamic fundamentalism.

The Old Man From Scene 24 | 07.07.05 - 2:51 pm

One of the tenets of Republicanism 101: react rather than act. It would never occur to these guys to explore the root causes of this, because whoever it is doing it isn't them and is therefore wrong to begin with.

And so, with everything that the US has done for the past four years a clumsy reaction to 9/11, why should we expect them to suddenly get better at anti-terrorism? Or even good?

GravatarSWR--you could make my da apoplectic with the phrase 'Ulster Protestant.'

Well as a "Catholofascist" surely he was greatful for the "benefits of Protestant culture and Anglo Saxon Democracy brought to him by the great William of Orange" right?

GravatarWhat is particularly quaint is Varney's response as to exactly how it works to "our" advantage:

VARNEY: It puts the Number 1 issue right back on the front burner right at the point where all these world leaders are meeting. It takes global warming off the front burner. It takes African aid off the front burner. It sticks terrorism and the fight on the war on terror, right up front all over again.

A'yup.

GravatarGood one from AMERICAblog:

God forbid there should be an attack on one of our cities say via chemical weapons. But it's something we need to be prepared for. A key part of those plans: the National Guard and Army Reserve. And where is the National Guard and Army Reserve? Iraq. Don't you feel safer?

GravatarGo easy on Fox -- there's probably still some pesticide residue in the air.

GravatarWell, you know, since these attacks are going to happen ANYWAY it might as well work to our advantage !!

Fuck, that guy just admitted their whole M.O. is to scare everyone into believing in Cuckoo Bananas and this whole fascist sham of a war.

There is now NO WAY any lying fucking maggot can say we're fighting terror on some 'consolidated front' in Iraq.

PUll you goddamn heads out of your asses!!

GravatarIs that headline better or worse than the following garbage?

If you have to ask, then you're not very bright.

GravatarI had a wonderful lunch fighting with pro-life extremists in a local park. (disclaimer: I am male)

It started out as a nice peaceful lunch with beautiful weather and then the nut jobs showed up with their posters of aborted fetuses. OY! They are entitled to their opinions but how obnoxious can they get?

I noticed that most of them were men -with children (NAMBLA anyone?) and I pointed out to one of them that maybe their campaign might be more effective if they recruited just a few women to their side. I got no response.

I then went up to another guy who was arguing with a nice young woman holding a pro-choice sign. I asked him if he wants the government telling him what he can and can't do with his body. His argument was that "you couldn't take heroin until you died." My reply was, "THIS IS AMERICA. I SHOULD HAVE THE FREEDOM TO DO WITH MY BODY WHATEVER I WANT!"

His response was that he never gave it much thought but countered with, "but it's a baby". He walked away at that.

Not very bright.

GravatarWonder if the London pubs will stay open late. Usually, at times like this, they're packed.

GravatarMeanwhile the tropical storm season, fueled by rising ocean temps, is getting off to an historic start.

Thank goodness global warming is off the list. Enjoy the Summer, Southern Red States....

Twin Towers on fire, generic headdress-wearing "terraist", picture of Saddam with biohazard symbol, and shilling a book claiming a "Third Man" in the Murrah Building bombing.

Yep, Wingnut City.

GravatarThe right can hardly contain their glee that another terrorist attack has sprung up.

GravatarVARNEY: It puts the Number 1 issue right back on the front burner right at the point where all these world leaders are meeting. It takes global warming off the front burner. It takes African aid off the front burner. It sticks terrorism and the fight on the war on terror, right up front all over again.

Yeah, 'cause Bush can't use those others to scare the piss outta people!

GravatarThe Left is trying to use this attack to bash the President/

GravatarWonder if the London pubs will stay open late. Usually, at times like this, they're packed.

One would hope. On 9/11 everyone here wanted to be with other people. I went to the corner bar just to watch the news and sit next to other people. Helped me calm down a bit.

Gravatarmonkeywrench -- and, as usual, the Chimp was dead wrong. The environment will always be the most important issue, for the simple fact that nothing -- power, money, loyalty, partisanship, patriotism, nothing -- matters five minutes after you run out of air.

GravatarPutting things in perspective...The CIA-financed Gladio terrorist bombing of Bologna Rail Station killed 87. And the likely culprits were let off.

GravatarEr, not to rain on anyone's hate-fest, but would you care to read the quote itself before venting about how "Republicans love terrorist attacks".

Kilmeade said of the G8 leaders "But it's important for them all to be together. I think that works to [...] the Western world's advantage, for people to experience something like this together..." He was saying in the previous sentence that "terrorism should be Number 1" on their agenda, ahead of global warming and African aid. Clearly, he's claiming that it's to our advantage that the leaders were together when this happened. That's all. He thinks that their common bond of shared experience will do some good to, I don't know, reduce animosity between them and remind them that they're all on the same side.

Now, he might be utterly wrong about that, but it's a reasonable sentiment. And it has nothing to do with cheering for terrorism, or being glad that people got killed.

One of the reasons we hate the weasel bastards of Fox and their like is because they don't give a damn about facts. As we saw with Durbin's statement a couple of weeks ago, they're just waiting to pounce on anything and twist it beyond all reasonable interpretation, to make it something they can take phoney offence at. I sure as hell don't want to defend the Fox slime, but even more importantly, I don't want to see us go down the same idiotic anti-reason route.

GravatarSWR--it managed to breed suspicion in both parents of Protestants. My 73 year old mother still regards them with suspicion.

I thought the bike did a pretty good job of that yesterday.

GravatarThe Left is trying to use this attack to bash the President.

Trying? And why are we bashing the preznitwit, you worthless piece of garbage?

Think why that might be.

GravatarThanks, pie. You holdin' up all right?

GravatarYou bash the President because you hate what he stands for.

You want to defame him and you want to make it sound like he did the attacks.

GravatarAnd Kilmeade it couldn't possibly be true that the rest of the world is concerned about Africa not just for moral reasons but practical as well...ie if you let in descend further into poverty it will become a training ground for terrorists.

Shock and Awe is the magnificent stupidity of Fox News anchors

GravatarThank God we don't have to talk about those starving Africans anymore - people might have felt pangs of conscience.

Now every body go shopping - here are some ideas from our sponsors.

It's not an exactly analogy (the IRA doesn't equal Al Qaeda) but the level of rhetoric the right uses against Muslims is every bit as over the top and inflammatory as the rhetoric a gang of Protestant thugs in a Belfast pub uses against the Irish.

Bush LITERALLY looks like he's dressed in Orange with a "No Surrender" banner when he uses the term "Crusade."

GravatarThe environment will always be the most important issue, for the simple fact that nothing -- power, money, loyalty, partisanship, patriotism, nothing -- matters five minutes after you run out of air.

Or even when the first super hurricane rips apart an entire state. The carnage will be unbelievable....

Gravatarsp, I see your point, but I respectfully disagree. Reason being, the chief reason it's "to our advantage" for all the leaders to be together is that Bush and Blair can use that proximity in tandem to apply pressure on the other leaders to let B&B do whatever they want. They can derail the agenda for the G8 summit and get "terra terra TERRA" headlines for the whole week, while not having to do anything about the aforementioned global warming, African aid, et al., for however long.

To these people, the attacks are "to our advantage" as a distraction.

GravatarYeah, filkertom. Just more disgusted and sad for those who died today. I'm not afraid and I'm more convinced than ever that this administration is dead wrong about how to combat terrorists.

Trying to think of ways to remove Bush from office before he gets us all killed.

GravatarAh, but what else can you expect from FucksNews?

Gravatarhe said it's a good thing for:

"people to experience something like this together."

yes let's all rejoice together! pass the popcorn! hooray! we're making progress in the WoT! This is just a sign of how desperate al-Qaeda is! Woo hoo! Is we winning yet?

GravatarVARNEY: It sticks terrorism and the fight on the war on terror, right up front all over again.

KILMEADE: Yeah.

Yeah? How about fuck, yeah!

I bet high fives were going all around the Fox newsroom this morning. And they dare say we libs were happy ...These people make me sick.

GravatarPeople will never be able to plan for the long term. The world is doomed. Enjoy your lives, and hope your children don't suffer much. That's all you can do.

GravatarIn-fucking-credible! How can the deaths of innocent people work to anyone's advantage? Can any of you tell me that?

Gravatarfilkertom...I agree with what you say...just saying the 6 or 7 could counter the B's by framing Africa as the long term fight against terrorism

GravatarThey can derail the agenda for the G8 summit and get "terra terra TERRA" headlines for the whole week, while not having to do anything about the aforementioned global warming, African aid, et al., for however long.

Chimpy was never going to give these issues any more than lip service, and everyone knows it.

GravatarYou bash the President because you hate what he stands for.

No, freak. We hate him for what he DOESN'T stand for.

Useless twit.

Worst. President. Ever.

GravatarAtrios: Sure, he said it's a good thing for "people to experience something like this together." But that doesn't mean that it's a good thing for "people to experience something like this" period. The disgust and outrage expressed here seems to assume he meant the latter - that he's grateful for the attacks. I'm suggesting that this isn't what he meant at all.

GravatarAtrios' avatar enhancement. Beautiful!

* Sam Seder filling in for Rhodes right now. He's fantastic.

Gravatar...because now bushie can tell them all a big "I told you the fuck so!" about terrorism being more important than global warming...

but of course the TRUTH - which is that Bush's war on terrorism ain't doin' shit - isn't going to be heard but here!

GravatarAs several people on the thread have pointed out (to no avail), the headline "London Terrorist Attack 'Works to our Advantage'" is a blatant (I'll assume unintentional) misrepresentation of what was actually said by this guy.

That whole pronoun-antecedent thing seems to have eluded Atrios here.

GravatarDeath toll rises to 50.

It's hard to say what will happen to Blair. There may be a lot of anger directed at him and his promise that IraqWar would solve everything.

Gravatarfilkertom: OK, his desire to see the War on Terra as the Number 1 issue may be repugnant. But it's a disagreement on policy, and surely less disgusting than cheering for terrorist attacks, which is what a lot of commenters here are accusing him of.

Gravatarfilkertom...I agree with what you say...just saying the 6 or 7 could counter the B's by framing Africa as the long term fight against terrorism

Without doubt, that could help. But, as pie points out, Chimpy wants none of it. Sigh.

Gravatarsp -- I'll even agree with that. It's this doof on Faux News who's putting that spin on it. I'll give Chimpy the benefit of the doubt, or at the very least of not being quick enough to pounce on it, and presume that he, too, is horrified by today's bombimgs.

Man, he has to be. The world is too fuckin horrible otherwise.

GravatarThe Spaniards are too swarthy to count. Hats back on, Gentlemen. An Idiot.

GravatarWhat about this .. Cooper testifies this morning and says Rove was his source. But yesterday he said he got a call from his source who told him it was OK to testify. So that means Rove called him yesterday to testify.

Why? Could he have known that something else was going to come along to bump this story off the front page?

Tell me I'm wrong. Paranoid and wrong.

GravatarYeah, who cares about the 1400 African children who died from starvation during the time it took that moronic douchebag to complete his sentence?

Who cares if the pollution we put out there is going to eventually burn us up like balogna in a microwave?

By God, {someone start the fear inducing drumroll] we'd better start focusing on those terrorists!

Those people at that Tv station, doing that entertainment faux-news stuff just KILL ME! Nevermind the terrorists.

GravatarSent Malagaladingdong a little. Like to read it? Here it go:

As one of the "moonbats" you seem quite fond of cutting and pasting from today, I would like to give you a direct quote. The war in Iraq is an utter failure and you should be ashamed of trying to justify it by using the events of today. What happened in London is horrible. What is even worse is the politicizing of the event from those on the right wing. Why would Mr. Kilmeade of Fox News state that the attack in London, the worse since WWII, is good thing in bringing terrorism back to the forefront of world attention. What a completely distasteful thing to say. European countries have known far longer than America the effects of terrorism. The hubris expressed by the right wing, that of "Abbas Teneo Optimus", is not needed in this time of tragedy. The tragedy today is not a justification for continuation of the Iraq war. It is merely a tragedy.

I don't expect a reply from you nor do I expect you to post this "as sent" onto your website. You're style is more divisive than that. I suppose you'll post a few choice sentences that will demonstrate my "moonbattiness" to your core readers. Feel free to do so. My heart and mind are with those victims in London and upon completion of this letter no longer on you. Good day and God bless (yes, Michelle. We heathen lefties do believe in a higher power than ourselves, even when we don't need to get ourselves out of a jam.)

Monica Adams

Gravatarfilkertom: "this doof on Faux News who's putting that spin on it"

Not sure what you mean here - since I (thankfully) don't have access to Fox. Is the host taking the "thank God for the terrorists' wake-up call" line?

GravatarMonica A -- that rocks.

GravatarThank you. I really hate that woman.

Ummm... did you read the Media Matters story that this thread is based on? Fox News host Brian Kilmeade said that it worked to our advantage for the G8 leaders to experience this together, because terrorism should be the number one issue rather than, say, global warming or aid to Africa. So, yeah, he is kinda taking exactly that line.

GravatarMonica A -- what's not to hate?

GravatarRemember this blast from the past?

Falwell, Robertson blame gays, women for 9/11

Anyone care to guess who the first trogdolyte TV preacher will be to reiterate this for the London bombing?

Gravatarfilkertom: Yeah, I read it. My initial reading was that it was the sharing of the experience that works to our advantage, not the event itself. That's still not clear: I mean that he's glad that they were together when it happened. That doesn't mean that he's glad it happened.

GravatarSo Fox News is saying that the G-8 ECONOMIC meeting should have Terrorism as their number one topic, instead of Economic topics, like global warming and aid to Africa.

Fox News --- Terrorism is everywhere. Forget everything else!

-- hey, is that Michael Jackson over there?

GravatarThe first thought that popped into my head when I turned on the news this morning was "I wonder who did it, the Americans or the Israelis?". Geez! London announces the withdrawl of it's troops from Iraq and two days later they get this kind of payback? Any more of this bullshit and I'm gonna start getting a little cynical.

GravatarWell said, Monica!

GravatarYou bash the President because you hate what he stands for.

R.C. Richards | Homepage | 07.07.05 - 3:03 pm | #

What he stands for and what he has accomplished. He stands for war, death and destruction to enrich himself and his cronies, and has accomplished exactly the opposite of the promises you have swallowed.

Aren't you paying attention?

Gravataranyone rememember what Kilmeade said to NYPD commish Ray Kelly? He said he wanted to punch out the protesters. What a weasel piece of shit.

GravatarUrgent Correction from Fox News:

Sorry, there is still a white woman missing. We meant that terrorism should be the number TWO issue.

Now back to our regularly scheduled propagandizing. er, programming.

Gravatarsp -- true, it could be read that way. I think the way Atrios is reading it, and certainly the way that I'm reading it, is that this is one sick fuck of a time to be even thinking, let alone saying, "Y'know, this could work to our advantage".

GravatarAs a Brit I am wondering to myself where this leaves British public opinion. Compared to the US, the percentage of people who believe the Iraq war was a rational response to 9-11 and combatting jihadist terrorism is virtually non-existent. The Downing St memos suggest that not even members of the Govt actually took it seriously as an effective way to combat jihadist terrorism. Quite the reverse, in fact, many
figures in the UK govt were well aware of the risk of exacerbating the problem by invading Iraq, and are on record as warning as such.

Blair is too bright to push a version of the "flypaper" thesis, as our involvement in Iraq clearly has not made us any safer.

All the evidence suggests the Govt knew the justification for war was a crock, knew that there was a real danger of boosting jihadist terrorism, knew that shifting attention from Afghanistan was a mistake, knew that the planning for the post-war phase in Iraq was non-existent but went ahead anyway, merely because Tony Blair thought he could gain some influence over George Bush.

Most Britons have been expecting this attack. It was not a bolt out of the blue, and is unlikely to change anybody's view of the Iraq war, unless to highlight the mistakes and falsehoods that led us to Iraq.

Gravatarsp,

you could read it that way. if you are his mommy and you don't want to believe that your little boy is an evil, soulless trogladyte.

at least until varney very helpfully clarified what he meant by "works to the western world's advantage". what he said was essentially it is a good thing it happened when these guys are all together, so they would drop all the global warming nonsense and put the fear of 'terrists' back in the forefront of peoples minds.

it is not a good thing that it happened. there is nothing good about it.

Gravatar"WE CANNOT HAVE A TERROR GAP"

"I think one of those just opened up at the local mall, right next to Baby Gap."

Yeah, and Bush would still invade Barnes & Noble.

GravatarI was delighted on Monday to see an actual "Shox News - We Distort, You Comply" billboard on my way in to work.

GravatarHow many more need to die before you GET IT? WE ARE AT WAR! You liberals make me sick. Your bias is unbelievable. You are now defacto terrorist supporters since you do not see this for what it is. You think we need to surrender. We need to keep fighting. America could be next if our resolve weakens. All muslims should be profiled and deported. Any one of them could be a suicide bomber. They are all in on it, they hate our freedom and want us to convert or die.

GravatarFrom a friend, who emailed:

D.C.-based journalist Simon Marks was on screen, discussing with the anchor the fact that the Edgeware Road tube station is surrounded by "a very large Arab population." The Fox anchor called it an "odd choice" of target for an attack, and Simon pointed out a "large number of Middle Eastern restaurants in the area."

The next sentence is verbatim from correspondent Simon Marks:

"It's further indication, if indeed these attacks were carried out by Al Qaeda-affiliated cells, that these people are, if necessary, prepared to spill Arab blood, in addition to the blood of regular -- uhhh -- of non-Arab people living in London."

Cunts.

GravatarDear Atrios . . .

I offer my missive as a comment. It was written after an ironic experience. This morning I tuned into Public Broadcasting this morning. As the world watched the current news, I was exposed to minutes of a piece on the incidents leading up to World War I. Quotes of Woodrow Wilson were spoken. I changed the channel so that I might know what was going on today, here, and now.

I was struck, as I heard of London. I needed to release, to write. I, as are all authors, wrote of the most recent bombings, not those in Iraq, but those in Britain.

I invite you to read my words, share your thoughts on these. There is so much that we all wish to say, so much to consider. I offer, TERRORIST ATTACKS, BUSH PROTECTS US ©
Liberty has never come from Government. Liberty has always come from the subjects of it . . . The history of liberty is a history of limitations of governmental power, not the increase of it. ? - Woodrow Wilson

Betsy L. Angert Be-Think

GravatarThe terrorists' work is done, then! Yay! The right wing can now get those pesky social and economic issues back to the kitchen where they belong and commence with the fear and war mongering. More terrorism please! That Africa thing was soooooo five minutes ago. Long live Dear Leader!

GravatarWell duh. For right-wingers, terrorist attacks are a good thing, especially when they hit liberal urabn areas. That way they not only get the joy of their 'righteous fury' porn but also get to snicker about all them libruls whut got keeled. 9/11 is the best thing that every happened to them, which is why they use it for gain every chance they get.

The other side gets the same thing out of this bullshit too. The fundies, both Christian and Islamic, feed off each other this way. They are more alike than either fo them would care to admit.

GravatarFirst time since 9/11? I guess Spain doesn't count since they don't speak American.

Hubris |

I'm not reading just the headline, I'm reading what the guys actually said. While they may well have meant that it was advantageous for the G8 to be together, there is no mistaking that the REASON that was advantageous is that it gets the G8 to stop talking about social and economic issues that are BAD for the right and back to talking about what the right WANTS to talk about, which is FEAR. So, therefore, duh, Varney and friend, who are on the right, are clearly making the point that the attacks are advantageous.

GravatarBut he's right. "Global warming", AIDS in Africa, Karl Rove, etc, etc, ad nauseum don't matter a whit. What matters is that Islamofascists and anti-WalMart fanatics are out to destroy Western civilization. Get a grip.

GravatarDavid Patterson.........when does your unit leave for Iraq?

GravatarThere's a special place in hell for those bastards.

Satan's gonna have to build a whole new wing to hold them all.

GravatarDavid Putzhead:

"How many more need to die before you GET IT? WE ARE AT WAR! You liberals make me sick. Your bias is unbelievable. You are now ZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!

GravatarVarney: It takes African aid off the front burner. It sticks terrorism and the fight on the war on terror, right up front all over again.

Why didn't MediaMatters highlight this gem of a comment as well? God forbid that an entire continent of people crippled by debt, famine, ethnic strife, and corruption be assisted by the humane, civilized nations of the "Western World" to become contributors to global prosperity!

Why didn't he just say, "Giving those black folks money is an abomination! After all they've got affirmative action, welfare, and their superb athletic ability to rely on?"

Fox is peddling divisive, implicitly racist and xenophobic propaganda disguided as "news." By praising Fox's coverage, the White House indirectly endorses Fox's method and their message. Where is the FCC? Surely, on some basic level, Fox is violating decency standards.

I am appalled. I cannot believe the press-at-large isn't shining a very big spotlight on Fox's vile behaviour today following the London attacks.

Gravatarreally D. Patterson!, put the crack pipe down brother!
Can i get a show of hands for a CIA psy-ops in London today? anyone? anyone?
Fox is right in their own kooky way:
there is no downside for the White House, and numerous advantages resulting from today's terror.

GravatarOK Kiddies - we conservatives would respond with an adult rebuke, but we’ve found that it's useless to argue with drunkards and fools. Grow up and ditch the ugly personal attacks. That's not very classy.

Ooops, my mistake, liberals gave up class a long time ago.

GravatarI'm tired of all of these useless ranting.

I quit being a Democrat over a decade ago because of the nonsense of the party. I quit being a Republican because of Bush.

I'm a libertarian because we do not tolerate the idiots on this board who make racist attacks against others simply because you disagree with their views.

Internment camps? Sounds like some of the libs here have read too many books by Hitler. You are all sick.

GravatarHappened upon one of the most effective hate-mongers on the web today, Michelle Malkin, who links to this very thread as an example of
"This is hardly
the first
time
liberals
have
made Asian whore ping-pong ball jokes about me."

And it is shameful, from any direction or persuasion, and ought to be labeled that.

So shut the frick up any of you who who demean anyone on a racist, misogynist basis. You're a jerk, and you demean anyone who shares some of your beliefs, and in addition you discredit the argument you're making, genius.

Malkin, like her fellow bonehead moralist O'Reily, will always hold others to a higher standard than she applies to her own fear-filled crap (just look at her long story on the two Saudi students for an example of her cruel mind). Don't go giving her and her twisted friends any extra ammunition by smearing her with lame Patpong Road jokes.

It's not about defending the poor delicate blossom that is Michelle, it's about just keeping to standards despite the hateful hypocritical B.S. that comes from the Coulters, etc., of the world. Once you rationalize and stoop to the language of hate (as opposed to satire or rant), you become them. And you don't want to live in their ugly minds.
