A little bit after I posted my review of Nausicaä I thought of another reason I like it so much: Like AKIRA (another favorite manga of mine), Nausicaä does an amazing job of building a setting you feel you could get lost in. But Miyazaki's detailed art tracks everything so that you never do get lost. You always know where you are, always have your bearings thanks to his gifted storytelling. It's something that you might overlook because it's so seamless, but once you realize it, you really appreciate it, especially given how many other comics are unable to transition from one panel to the next without confusing readers.
