Comments for Sporadic Sequential

I've heard about this "bitching." Maybe I should try it ...

Fushigi Yugi or Magic Knights Rayearth might be good places to start if you want to read "magical girl" genre shoujo.

Kare Kano would be good if you want a more realistic high school setting.

You should hang out at the manga forums on animeondvd.com, as there's a lot of people there to give good shojo recommendations.

I'll try to link to some of the forum reviews, and see if the system here can handle it.

Oh my god!

Who the hell forgot to tell me there was a new Yoshitaka Amano art book out?!

*ahem*

Anyway, I'd recommend Kodocha, by Miho Obana. This is the book that got me back into manga after I decided I couldn't afford it, and I can't wait to get the final volume. The only manga--possibly the only work of fiction in general--that I've seen, that I can honestly call "deceptively slapstick." It's very funny, but Obana deals with some REALLY heavy issues as the series goes on, and toes the line between serious and funny with incredible skill.
