Elevate my thinking

Gravatar MyMum has been doing the name confusing thing for years. It's forgivable to be called by my sister's name; slightly less so by my brother's. The last but one phone call I acquired a brand new name PaulineMatthewJosephEleanor...Gerry

Gravatar I also like the idea of leching over girls in tight clothes and just being dismissed as a dirty old man

Like that doesn't already happen, D.

Gravatar My grandmother can usually get my name right....is my mum that has the problems. She usually ends up going through the names of my sisters, aunts, occasionally cousins and sometimes my fathers name before she gets it right. It's a standing joke in our house.

Gravatar Um... what is "ceilidh"?

Signed, the American.

Gravatar Your gran sounds like quite a character.

I love my grandmother more than words can express. She's flying to Portugal on Friday to visit her ailing younger sister so your post was esp. timely to me.

That was such a lovely post! I'm looking forward to reading through the rest of the alphabet!

Gravatar Wow, she sounds like a total blast. I just love people's grandparents. Very nice tribute to her.

Gravatar Your Gran sounds like someone I'd truly enjoy meeting and spending time with -- a real live wire. She probably manages quite effortlessly to exhaust all those younger than her 81 years. I love elderly folks, they're truly cool.

Gravatar I look forward to the days when I can say "eh?" and "pardon?" even when I've heard whatever it was someone was saying. I also like the idea of leching over girls in tight clothes and just being dismissed as a dirty old man. Now where's my trenchcoat?

Gravatar My gran did the thing with the names, before she lost her marbles. I would be called by a string of pretty names belonging to other members of the family, before she happened upon the one that belongs to me.

She also danced spectacularly to "Parklife" at my wedding.
