In Japan, forgiveness is rare. It is seen as too precious to just give out and it is very serious to say to someone "I Will Never Forgive You".

There is no limit on forgiveness. There is no finite capacity. Either you can, or you can't.
If you forgive, you make your heart open back to hurt by that person. You give of yourself to them, healing your own wounds through the act of forgiveness, as we all must do.
Generally, the people who do the worst harm to you care the least for your forgiveness - so, no, they are not dependent on your forgiveness.
Oddly enough, the more forgivness you give, the more you have to give.
But then, some say I forgive too easily.
