I was in the same situation (frustrated with limited funds) - and decided to make copies of photos/home movies and give everyone albums filled with memories. For a few very special people, I'm matting and framing some black and whites they'd admired a while back.

I don't have the patience to fight the crowds at the stores.

If anyone complains, I'll just mail them a Best Buy/Barnes and Noble/Amazon gift card for future purchases on me.
