"Begging, selling, semantics." No, begging is a one way transfer of money. Selling is two way - the buyer purchase something. I don't see you selling anything; you just want money. That's begging, pure and simple.

And I think that begging for money, rather than moving to somewhere less costly, demonstrates poor personal ethics. I agree that posting pictures, blackmail, etc. are also poor personal ethics. So don't justify begging by saying its less bad than other things. If it's bad, just stop doing it.

Oh, I get it: you believe that YOU are a charitable cause, just like the ACLU and the Sierra Club. Well, hard to argue with that. You might be an interesting person -- although this begging behaviour of yours is offputting -- but a charity you ain't. You're begging, plain and simple, and for people who don't need to beg, that's just despicable. Get off your butt, move to somewhere less expensive, and stop begging the world to support your Aspen life. Good by.

Poor ethics? How do you figure that? Were you under the impression Meesh mugged someone? You use heavily loaded words without actually explaining what you mean by them. You just make bald statements like 'that is despicable'. Why is it despicable if there is no compulsion for anyone to give her money who does not want to? Do you have any objective rational reasons for saying that or are you just venting vaguely formed emotions? Do tell.

Though I must say I would much prefer Meesh spent her 20 on some nice cold beers rather that gave it to the sanctimonious and inconsistent ACLU, but hey, no accounting for taste and it is her money to burn as she wishes

I consider it despicable because, passe as it might be in these modern times, I believe that people should live within their budgets, earn their incomes, and not look to others to support them. I admit, there are many worthy cases where it is appropriate to support people (disabilities, unemployment, etc.), but Meesh wouldn't need other people's money if she'd move to somewhere less expensive. So I end up concluding that she's asking others to support a lifestyle she can't afford on her own.

You're right, people aren't obliged to give her money, but Meesh has put herself right down there with panhandlers on the streetcorners, cap extended for money. When she is a gainfully employed, intelligent and obviously resourceful person, I remain of the view that begging for money as she is doing is despicable.

I am surprised that anyone would condone such behaviour, instead of telling her to move to a place where her expenses don't exceed her income.

You ask for objective rational reasons. I doubt that basic moral principles which guide any society can be considered objective or rational, but they are certainly the foundation of what maintains a society. And Meesh' begging behaviour is antithetical to the fundamental principles of western society.

I still say what she's doing is dead wrong, and despicable.
