Right on. I'm surprised Josh Claybourn hasn't shown up already. This is one of his more frequent objections.

By the way, did you get that "Servile State" from Belloc. I read that too.

i think it originated with Belloc. Chesterton uses it plenty as well.

"The problem, to state things bluntly, is that the administration faces no pressure from the right."
Is it that they face no pressure from the right? Or is it that they have hermetically sealed themselves off from any so much as a hint of influence from other than the way-out radical extreme wacko left?
What we have is an administration that takes as its starting point the Jumpin' Jim Jeffords wing of the Republican Party, and works its way leftward from there.
I was recently chastised by Richard Poe on his readers' forum for bellyaching about this administration without looking at the consequences of a Dem victory -- a Hillary victory, for instance -- in the next election.
Poe was right.
BUT ... I dunno ... this Bush-Rove team looks mighty bad from where I sit ... mighty bad, is all I can say ... they are B-A-D. They're awfully easy to bellyache about.
I think they're beyond help. Just forget it -- we're stuck with them. And, yes -- they're better than Hillary would be -- scant comfort though that is ...

Well I've been voicing my objections quite regularly, as you note Bill. But Paul's post here is much more eloquent than mine can ever hope to be. =)
I'm considering a bolt in the 2004 election with a protest vote for President.
