Gravatar "Certainly Islam contains more elements of truth than secularism."

I started to read your blog -- which I had never before visited -- with optimism that I might find some intelligence here and some interesting perspective on how we battle islamofascism.

Alas.

Gravatar "Islamofascism"?

Sounds a bit like a lonely, lost Sancho Panza looking for a Don Quixote to join in the battle against the windmills…

But why to look for enlightenment in this blog when the entire liberal and neo-conservative media, academia and establishment, in fact all who promote a belief in that hallucination, abundantly supply the seekers with intelligence and interesting perspective how to battle it?

I think that for anyone not really interested in battling the chimera of islamofascism, but in defending the West against Islam this blog offers plenty of intelligence, perspective and hope.

Gravatar I'd better rewrite the second paragraph of my comment. What I meant is:

But why to look for enlightenment in this blog while the entire liberal and neo-conservative media, academia and establishment, in fact all who promote the belief in that hallucination, are full of both "some intelligence" and "some interesting perspective” on how to battle the “islamofascism”? A believer in “islamofascism’s” reality who also is eager to battle it will find a lot of inspiration there.

Gravatar Touche, Mr. Hanski. Mr. Cella, that was an amazingly thought-provoking article. The one observation I would like to add is that Euro-left (apart from a few of the more astute ones like Hirsi Ali) have already made their treasonous pact with Islam, along with the rest of the European ruling elite. They are traitors to the core. Imagine my surprise! Who remains in Europe to resist the coming Caliphate (apart from the valiant Mr. Hanski) or an odd Danish newspaper editor?

Tony Blair may have sent troops to Iraq (for reasons that remain obscure), but at home he's established a regime that is only marginally less totalitarian than Stalin's. The baking of Hot Cross buns is banned (lest they offend the precious other) but fatwas openly advocating muder over cartoons are quite permissable. Mr. Cella is certainly right about the secular nihilists being more loathesome than Muslims. The best thing that could happen to the UK, France, Sweden, and Spain would be a series military coup d'etats complete with the summary execution of nearly all government officials and magistrates on charges of high treason. Such a scenario is highly unlikely if not impossible as the traitors have had decades to populate the officer corps and ranks with fellow quislings and nihilists.

Perhaps the real question that needs to be asked is: Whose rule is more survivable for the tiny remnant of the church in Europe? That of the secular nihilists, who have explicitly targeted even the left-over cultural traditions (like Hot Cross Buns) not to mention Christianity itself - or that of the Muslims, who will subject them to unending dhimmitude and slavery?

I don't know the answer to this question.

Gravatar It's one hell of a grim situation, isn't it, gentlemen?

Gravatar The Russian Church and the Papacy from Catholic Answers is an abridgement of one of Soloviev's works and well worth the $8.00 or so just to obtain Soloviev's insights on Islam. His comments on Byzantines will also surprise you.

Gravatar As much as I enjoy being referred to as “valiant Mr. Hanski”, thank you Carolus, there are many, really many, who share my opinion, concerns and anger about the progressive dismantling of Europe. There is a growing awakening and resistance to that. It is true that the resistance is still politically and ideologically amorphous and still groping for strategy. It also is true that the media and education sector is swamped by the ex-useful (to Kremlin) idiots and their ideological progeny of different shades and tastes. They may oten be at odds with each other on minor issues, but are unified in their contempt for the West and rejection of the national ethos.
However there is a not so imperceptible change taking place now; - the conservatives are slowly reclaiming the language, or the words and concepts that have been high-jacked, emptied of original proper meaning and twisted to suit the multiculti utopia. Yes, although the physical means for dissemination of the multiculturalism, its necessity, morality and inevitability are, practically, in the hands of these “progressive”, “humanist” forces, yet their monopoly on words and ensuing from that monopoly on defining what is good and evil has been broken. That is evident from increasingly eloquent and widening criticism and debunking of the sacred maxims with which the “progressives” used to gag the opposition. Their claim of high moral grounds has suffered a considerable loss of credibility and the development continues. Now the question is if the development arrives soon enough to thwart the metastasis of the multicultural lunacy into every institution of our society thus effectively sealing the fate of Europe. That is difficult to know.

Anyway, Carolus is not alone contemplating likelihood of scenarios of … a series military coup d'etats complete with the summary execution of nearly all government officials and magistrates on charges of high treason . Although he admits that "Such a scenario is highly unlikely if not impossible as the traitors have had decades to populate the officer corps and ranks with fellow quislings and nihilists…" to my mind this is absolutely not out of the question.

Coup d’etat are governed by special laws enacted in a singular environment where a few totally dedicated and unflinchingly committed to an idea may often outmaneuver, intimidate and topple the well established and confident in its invulnerability many. That why it is called a coup d’etat and not democratic voting or election. If such coup also enjoys a considerable popular support of its agenda then anything may happen.

Carolus asks “ Whose rule is more survivable for the tiny remnant of the church in Europe? That of the secular nihilists, who have explicitly targeted even the left-over cultural traditions not to mention Christianity itself - or that of the Muslims, who will subject them to unending dhimmitude and slavery?"

Gravatar oops, let me try again:

Carolus asks “Whose rule is more survivable for the tiny remnant of the church in Europe? That of the secular nihilists, who have explicitly targeted even the left-over cultural traditions not to mention Christianity itself - or that of the Muslims, who will subject them to unending dhimmitude and slavery?"

In my humble opinion it hardly matters because the “tiny remnant of the church in Europe” would, almost per definition, never present to the ruling establishment, whether secular or Islamic, a political challenge serious enough to trigger their crackdown. I think as long as it shows no signs of growth it will be left alone, more or less like Copts in Egypt, or Christians in China. For the Church to, once again, become a political factor it would have to first go back into the “catacombs” and reconnect with its spiritual ground waters for a period long enough to regain its energy, faith in the message of the Gospel, courage to evangelize and sufferance of persecution.
I think that such “reborn” Church would have more chance to survive and grow in the secular environment than under Islamic establishment. It is because the latter being essentially a spiritual power will view Church first of all as a spiritual contender - something Islam may never tolerate without betraying its fundamental tenets.

Well, that is what I, sometimes, think. Otherwise I share Carolus’ perplexity and say with him “I don’t know the answer to this question

Gravatar Excellent comment, Mr. Hanski. Your loyalty as a reader of this meager website is humbling.

Gravatar Thank you Mr. Cella.
That “meagre site” is one of few places where I find most clearly and astutely expressed confirmation of my deepest beliefs, thoughts and intuitions. It is a place where I’ve learned much and found much inspiration and hope. It is only natural that one is loyal to one’s mentor and ally.

Gravatar You got is all wrong. Besides Christian renaissance and dhimmitude, there's a third option for Europe.

Europe will embrace Nazism again, and there will a civil war in Europe. The big question is which side America is going to take in the coming European civil war or, rather, the attempted genocide of Europe's Muslims. My bet is that Uncle Sam will throw his lot with the jihadists, because by the time all this happens, most Americans will be Latinos who have no sympathy for white supremacists.
