I don't recall who said it, but some pundit pointed out that the Republicans, when they get power, merely act to consolidate the liberal gains.
They never undo the liberal errors, but simply maintain them.
Bush has done more than this, of course. He not only maintains liberal programs, he creates many more of them.
Most people who call themselves conservatives and Republicans I encounter have no problem with a pornographic culture, government re-education schools, dogmatic academia, Hollywood movies and TV shows. and ugly pop music.
They look at me as if I was Savanarola for questioning their considerable lack of ability to discern good from bad.
It's as if one said, "The women in Playboy magazine are often lovely, but perhaps we ought not to exploit women in that manner mor allow others to do it. It is a virtue, after all, to guard not only your own modesty but that of others, especially children and women."
If you say that, people will think you're from Mars and dangerous.
Isn't is Raskalnikov in Crime and Punishment who says, "People get used to everything. Damn them!"
Supposed conservatives find the perverted cultural milieu satisfactory in time.
