BTW, my daughter bleeds and bruises badly. She was diagnosed with Von Willebrand's Disease. Were you ever tested for it? Just interested.

I don't remember everything that they tested for. I remember hearing the name but I think VWD is a genetic disorder more so than a disease. How do they treat your daughter? Are there any restrictions as to her activity? That's what I hated the most.
Yes, it's genetic, apparently. 1% of the population is supposedly walking round with the type 1 version, that barely raises comment. My daughter got a double dose, and has type 2.
She's only five, but we have decided that dance and music are the best bet for hobbies. Contact sports are right out, which is a shame, because she is really competitive and, um, assertive..
Her treatment involves Tranexamic acid, DDAVP and in the worst case, transfusion. Her platelets just do not "plug".
I'm so glad she isn't a boy. The restrictions would be much harder on her, as they are on you.
The advances made in hemophilia field are incredible. I wish your daughter well. As for me, once they 86'd my spleeen I was free to be the rough and tumble hooligan I wanted to be. It was just hard when I was young, ya know.
