At my place of work, when the IT guys are driving my computer from their desks, that little symbol at the bottom goes black.
I was having some serious issues last week and my IT guy was driving. After we resolved it, I started working. He forgot to disconnect, and I nearly had a heart attack when my cursor moved and I wasn't doing it... then I saw the symbol go from black to white as he disconnected.
I wouldn't like thinking someone could get on my computer without my knowing. Not at all.
Did you install some kind of company software on your computer? If you did they may be able to monitor what you do with out you noticing it. I know my company can do that.
Contagion - they shipped me a lap top all loaded up with their crap on it. They have layer after layer of logons for security. Not sure what all is on there. I only use it for work. I use my home computer for everything else.
Speaking as an IT person, you would need to find out what their work load is. Even though we have that ability, we don't have the time to spy. We have so many tickets, projects, etc. I hope I am not come across snotty about it.
Even without having the software to take control of your pc, we can monitor things without it. We can see what servers you connect to, how long, what websites you visit and how long. That is without even connecting to your computer. But even then, we only review the computers that are causing problems or the top ten internet users.
As long as you are doing you job, I would not worry. But always think of it as your work pc, just like any other office property. Most people would not take their stapler, desk, chair, maybe pens, or paper home and use it for personal stuff. I can not believe how many people want to load their own games and software thinking it is "MY" pc. The PC belongs to the company and is for work purposes. If you took your desk home and scratched it up, wouldn't your company be made? And if you broke it so much that you could not work off of it? Wooo weee, you would be in trouble. The computer should be handled the same way.

LOL Amy I totally appreciate what you are saying. Me and Spurs have this thing no matter where we work. Meet the IT folks and be very very nice to them Yeah, I'm sure their isn't someone sitting there all day getting paid just to see if the contractors are doing their job eight hours a day It just totally freaked me out when the guy just showed up in my computer with no type of warning. Believe me, my work lapttop is for work only. It kills me how people think it's okay to load whatever they want on it but I guess some people don't even have a home computer and this is their only outlet to the Internet.
Can they spy on you??? Of course they can! It's what the web cam in the bedroom ceiling is for!
