Now, see, when I think of Advent, I think of those wonderful Advent calendars, with a chocolate for every day. (The largest one would be on Christmas Eve, if I remember rightly.)
Wow, my upbringing was more religious than I thought! 
It would make for a more dignified start to the Christmas season though, yes.

I loved those. I used to get them sent from gandparents in Germany sometimes, or my mom would pick them up at a Euro deli in our area.

Man that takes the magic right out of those things. You mean I was supposed to eat ONE chocolate per day, instead of snarfing the whole thing down in within a week of getting it? =)

FYI, many Catholics who are not of the Roman rite started their "advent" (pre-Christmas preparations) a couple of weeks ago. I hope your preparations go well.

I'd also be happier if people learned when the Twelve Days of Christmas fall, and as you know it isn't the twelve days preceding the 25th.
But then again, how many still understand to celebrate Epiphany?
