It has been quite a few years since I read Chesterton's, The Dumb Ox. You have motivated me to re-read it. I have it downstairs in the Castle Mad library somewhere. It had a great impact on me when I returned to Catholicism as an adult looking for an adult faith.

The acceptance that something other than oneself "is" is a thunderous revelation to some. You deal with powerful magic here. No wonder you returned to practicing your faith. God bless. It is much too late to continue surfing. Good night.

Your post gave me great pleasure. I shall link to your site before bed.

Gravatar What brilliant words. Chesterton never fails to delight. Elsewhere in that book he says something like:

Philosophy asks, "to be or not to be, that is the question"; and Dumb Ox replies, "to be, that is the answer."

Gravatar Found your blog throught the Blogs for CPC. Very interesting stuff!

Gravatar I'm glad the post was so well recieved.

I had quite a few quotes to choose from, which is always the case when reading over Chesterton. I chose this one because it is so logically fundamental, and because this is the isue where I have been spending a lot of my time on the blog. Thus far, anyway.
