Two nights in a row I visit your site and two nights in a row I am impressed. I lay off SSM for a bit because the issue was becoming a bit obsessive for me. I shall return to the fray soon.

You have put your finger on the nub of it, though. It is a question of who decides, the courts or parliament. And the other question. Is there nothing outside the purview of government?

And the ultimate idea. It is about the kids!

Well done.

Gravatar If marriage is all about the kids, doesn't that necessarily render nonprocreative heterosexual marriages equally illegitimate? Although I am not married (yet) myself, virtually every married couple I know would take grave exception to that.

Gravatar Matt - fertility is not something a couple can control. It is not a tap to be turned off and on at will. So, no, a couple may intend to have children and find themselves unable. They are still married.
