Gravatar I'm from Texas. I support the death penalty! Of course, in cases of violent crime. I consider violent crime to be RAPE, MURDER - you know, the usual... the stuff that allows you to get off with a slap on the wrist and only a couple of years in jail and three years probation for.

It's sad that 80% of our criminals are in jail for non-violent drug-related crimes, while the violent ones are returned to society to rape and kill (and molest little children). I guess they don't make good enough workers for Unicor (Federal Prison Industries, Inc) - yeah! Check them out: www.unicor.gov - prison is the OTHER outsource location. They pay a whopping .26 cents per hour (almost as good as the programmers in India).

No, I haven't been in prison, but I know people who have been. It is a wonderful arena for sharing the gospel - Prison Fellowship is a great ministry.

I have a hard time thinking that behavior changes that don't come through Christ are real. He's the only one who can heal and change a person for good.

Romans 13:3-5
3For rulers hold no terror for those who do right, but for those who do wrong. Do you want to be free from fear of the one in authority? Then do what is right and he will commend you. 4For he is God's servant to do you good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword for nothing. He is God's servant, an agent of wrath to bring punishment on the wrongdoer. 5Therefore, it is necessary to submit to the authorities, not only because of possible punishment but also because of conscience.
