Gravatar I won't link to it, but just today an evangelical professor wrote with approval about a San Antonio episode where someone broke into a Catholic church and broke statues.

A clarity is approaching, a fork in the road between those who love the fullness of the Faith, and those who are allergic to all but their own little bubble.

Gravatar Thank you for the link to us here at ChristianityToday.com.

Another one of our publications, Christian History & Biography just released their latest issue last week, and the issue is devoted to C.S. Lewis. Nine articles about various aspects of his life and his work.

I highly suggest checking it out as new articles will be released every week over the next 3 months. Or, you can just grab a copy of the issue or get a subscription to see the issue as well.

Enjoy!

Gravatar I discovered Lewis before I "came to Christ", was amazed once I had that I had totally missed any Christian reference but I should not have been so hard on myself, I had zero frame of reference to work from and now? well I am pleased of course that there is still room for Lewis on my shelf as I "come home" to a Catholic faith.

He's the favorite son, the one everyone wants to claim as their own, somehow he remains above all that, even posthumously. However, even he cannot prevent the commercialization of his opus and the opportunist nature that does not fail to include Christians capitalizing as much as they are educating and informing.

Gravatar Lewis was born into a middle-class Protestant family in Dundela, East Belfast. In the years before 1914 Home Rule for Ireland was the dominant issue in Belfast, particularly as Asquith's Liberal Government were dependent on the support of the Irish Nationalists
for their survival.

Fear of Home Rule (ie Rome Rule) was very strong amongst Protestants as
Home Rule would mean a Catholic Irish State.

Although Lewis outgrew this, I suspect some this must have lingered in his sub-concious and may be the reason he could not make the logical step to Catholicism.

Gravatar I think the Fog has it. That is coming to be my own opinion of Lewis' reluctance as well.

Thanks everyone.
