I wish I wasn't too old to see my pediatrician. No, wait. He was a scary old man with really cold, big hands and a terrifying voice.

I later met him again as an adult and realized he's pretty short, was probably about 40 when I was 5 and has a very soothing voice. amazing how the terrors of doctor's visits can transform a child's perception.

We all loved out pediatrician. We called him "The smurf doctor". He is now my kids doctor. Though now he doesn't look for smurfs in kids ears it's Dora, Boots, Bob the Builder, etc.

I found your blog randomly, through another blog that I follow, and I gotta say - I love it. I'm a NICU nurse, and I had the pleasure of working on a hem/onc floor when I was in nursing school, and I love reading your stories. Like this one. I really REALLY love my job in the NICU, but some days (not often, but some) I miss having patients who can talk.

You do good work, it sounds like. And, responding to previous posts regarding obnoxious nurses - please forgive us. Sometimes our job is harder than you'd think, and most of us aren't jerks. We just speak a different language, as you once so eloquently put it

Love it. Thanks for taking such good care of the kiddos. They need more docs like you. And I agree with April regarding nurses. We all just need to be patient with each other, since we speak completely different languages. Thanks for understanding that
