Not you in particular - but thank God they are watching you all. The experienced parents will be too ya know. They know the ropes and have seen to voodoo things interns and some early residents have tried on their babies before they knew better than to let them do it.
Lots to learn, friend. And these are babies we're talking about. No room for error in the eyes of parents.
Make sure you include them on your team by listening closely and explaining thoroughly in your quest to keep death away.
Open mind!

Question to the readers...... How should a peds intern introduce themselves.
1) Firstname Lastname
2) Dr. Firstname Lastname
3) Dr. Lastname
4) Firstname
5) Dr. Firstname
6)Some other combo.
I started today and found it really weird to say any of them.

introduce yourself as the doctor that you are. I used to say, Hi, I'm Dr. Soandso, I'm a resident on the team taking care of you...I feel like in a tertiary care facility parents are often really confused about who's caring for them, and I think it's only fair to try to make things less confusing.
Dr. Sixyearmed, GOOD LUCK on your first day of residency! Enjoy it. You'll never learn so much so quickly.
PS, someday when you're an attending, you'll actually miss that feeling of having someone watching out for you.

Is residency the point at which you have to work 48 hours or more straight ? I always thought if i were in a hopital I'd want a well-rested doctor as opposed to a sleep-deprived one

I dunno why, but this makes me laugh. I'm young, but an executive in the HR world so I can totally see myself seeing this.
After a family emergency I dealt with a few weeks ago, I keep thinking a hospital would be a much funner environment for me. :D
