How terribly, frightfully sad. It is posts such as these that cause me to remember to drop to my knees every day and pray with gratitude that my two children lived to adulthood to marry and have children of their own. It also causes me to stay on my knees and plead for the health of my four grandchildren. I know how hard it is to watch the suffering and death of a loved one. But to witness that of your own child must be something for which there are no words.
Only July 13th, 2009, I lost my father to cancer after 14 months. On June 12th, my Mother was diagnosed.
It's so much different when it's adults and when it's children and yet, the pain, the anger and the grief.. is all the same.
..2008 not 2009. *kicks brain.* It's too early..
So grippingly sad. You do the pain justice here with your words, and in telling these stories of suffering, you remind us all to treasure the gift of its absence. Thank you.
Praying for renewed strength for you as you continue to give yours away in situations such as these.

Words are inadequate in these situations; actions speak much louder. I respect and admire your grace and courage and your presence was a blessing to that family.
i love that you see the patient and not just the diagnosis... so rare these days. i hope that you will always practice medicine with such humble grace.
So terrible. I'm very sorry for your patient and her family...they will be in our prayers. How awful to face the end at only 12 years old.

I admire your grace and dignity, too. I pray for you when I read of these very hard circumstances you have to witness and bear. I prayed for the little girl and her family. I have a 12 year old daughter, too.

My daughter just turned 13. I will pray for this girl and her parents. And for you. And I will thank God for my healthy daughter.
You know what? She is going to beat it. It hasn't won yet. And with courage like that, and fight still in her, she will beat it. I have to believe that half the battle with cancer is attitude - why else would I be here?
