Well said. You have just stated the base reason leadership is to tough. Everyone has the opportunity to be a leader. As a person, parent, worker, manager, teacher, etc. we all have a chance to make a leadership choice. Why isn't everyone a leader? Character and choice. Leaders have to reveal themselves to the world. They may be able to cover for lack of character for a while (ENRON) but eventually a leader's character is revealed. Even for good leaders it is scary. A great many people fear putting their life in front of others.

Sadly, our modern world loves to tear at leaders. Leaders are not perfect but the world often rips the heart out of good people for minor mistakes. Look at what we do to Presidential candidates! In my government career I was fortunate to meet some great leaders who would have been excellent Presidents. They were not willing to put themselves and their families through the feeding frenzy. We all make the same kind of choice.
