This article was sent to me by a friend who knew I was involved in a project to update two CAS servers, two HUB servers, and five CCR cluster pairs (ten total CCR servers with five active and five passive). In our lab there was some difficulty, but I was able to update our lab successfully. This article helps harden what was learned in our lab experience and also shows clear reference and explanations that will be beneficial to any administrator that needs to accomplish this task. I found this article to be better then the MS provided information as it contains screenshots where we can see what we are supposed to see during the task. I would like to see a future article that discusses the steps of upgrading to E2K7 SP1 when running in a mixed Exchange 2007 / 200x organization. I personally ran into prerequisite items discussed in this article; however, I also ran into some errors where our legacy system required some updates. It may be a good idea to point out that an ExBPA scan may be a good manual prerequisite to help identify items that can be fixed before upgrade attempts. That information would also be good to describe for those administrators out there that need to upgrade a mixed environment and / or while they migrate to ultimately be at a native 2007 org. Thank you very much for providing the level of detail in this article.
