Aaron:
Congrats on the 2 million.
Keep up the good writing.
Thanks for all your dedication to the sport and your readers.

Gravatar Congrats on the milestone. You're a huge value to the Twins community--keep up the good work.

Gravatar yo congrats aaron. you're not quite Cal Ripken, but you're definitel an OG of this blog shit. you were in this game way before most the others and you've outlasted tons of blogs in the last couple of years (Cleveland Indians Report anyone?).

Gravatar Aaron, this is the first time I've left a comment on your site in the year and a half I've been checking it.
Your site is, and has been, bookmarked in my favorites folder. As a Twins fan, I both relate to and enjoy your entries.
So, basically what I'm saying is, keep up the great entries and good luck with your other ventures.
P.S. I'd also be interested in reading your Johan Santana article. When can we expect it to be done?

Gravatar Man forget the Santana article. Where's the Liriano article? Whew. I am an Indians fan and I am not happy about the next 5 or so years dealing with him and Santana possibly.

Gravatar First time comment for me also, although I've been lurking here for at least a year, having found the site via the Hardball Times.

As a Twins fan based in the UK, this is absolutely my first port of call for news and discussion. The Joe Mauer piece yesterday for me sums up the excellence of your prose and analysis.

Keep up the good work.

Gravatar Kudos on collesting all the (web) hits, AG - you have a HOF blog!

I'll carry over this question from late yesterday:

I know in regards to his position, what Mauer is doing this year is pretty spectacular. Now, in regards to his age, how would winning a batting title compare to previous winners?

Gravatar I went to the game on Saturday night, I got to see Silva, Lohse and LaTroy Hawkins in one game. Ain't that special? An interesting picture of where the Twin are, have been ... and hopefully moving away from.

Gravatar This is also my first time leaving a comment. I want to both thank you for the excellent Twins coverage and also complain for what you have done to my reading habits.

I am an avid Twins fan displaced from Minnesota 15 years ago. The internet has always been my source of information for Twins baseball. Until last year I would look forward to the the Star & Tribune, the Pioneer Press and ESPN on a daily basis. Then the Strib put a link to Twins Geek on their site and I discovered the world of blogs.

You're site is now the first place I visit each morning. Because of you and other blogs, I no longer get any enjoyment from reading the mainstream sites. The only one I visit anymore is mlb.com. I link to that from sethspeaks.net and only because I like to read the boxscore. I see that the Strib no longer links to any blogs. I guess the were losing to many visitors.

Getting closer...

Gravatar Congrats, Aaron. You are typically my first stop every morning for Twins news and commentary. Keep up the good work!

Gravatar Santana vs Schilling tonight! I'll be in the OF throwing peanuts at CoCo Crisp.

Gravatar BTW, am I the only one seeing that the comments counter isn't working? It seems to have been broken for about a week now. Or maybe it's just my browser.

Gravatar I was the 1,000,000 visitor! congrats

Gravatar Santana vs Schilling tonight! I'll be in the OF throwing peanuts at CoCo Crisp.

Cool. I'll be on my couch throwing cookies at the TV.

Gravatar I've probably only been about 1200 of those visits.

Gravatar I'm sure my visits number somewhere in the hundreds and I'm not even a Twins fan.

Your writing is fantastic and keeps me coming back every day. Plus, I never would have picked up Liriano for ONE dollar in my fantasy auction this year if it hadn't been for info from this site. I don't think my league mates had even heard of him before this year.

Keep up the good work...the writing, of course, and also the weight loss. Wow, 60 el bees!! Good job.

Gravatar First of all, thanks for all the kind words. I really do appreciate it.

Aaron, this is the first time I've left a comment on your site in the year and a half I've been checking it.

I'm always sort of amazed when someone says this, although it happens a lot (three people have already said that this morning, in fact). Of course, I don't think I've ever commented on another person's blog before, so I can't say that I blame you for staying away. But if you stop by here every day, you really should consider checking out the comments too.

I'd also be interested in reading your Johan Santana article. When can we expect it to be done?

The Santana article is for next month's edition of the Gameday program that is sold outside the Metrodome before Twins games.

I know in regards to his position, what Mauer is doing this year is pretty spectacular. Now, in regards to his age, how would winning a batting title compare to previous winners?

I'll have to do some digging on this, but it's a good question. If someone doesn't answer it in here first, I'll hopefully find some time to touch on it later this week.

I've probably only been about 1200 of those visits.

That means you're only like 1,500,000 behind my mom.

Keep up the good work...the writing, of course, and also the weight loss. Wow, 60 el bees!! Good job.

I'm up to (down to?) 61 pounds as of this morning!

Gravatar Hey Aaron,

I'm number 1,999,441. Is there a prize for that? Congratulations on 2 million - your sports writing is one of the first things I read every weekday morning. I think the first time I heard about your website was when a friend said, "you should read this U of M student's Twins blog...he called Rivas '0-for-3vas!'"

Thanks again!

Gravatar 1,999,457

I too have contributed over 1,000 hits. But I have a question. If I stop by 5 times during the day for the comments, does that count as 5?

Thanks to Baseball Reference, here are the top 5 BA's during age 23:

1. Al Simmons 1925 .387
2. Arky Vaughn 1935 .385
3. Ty Cobb 1910 .383
4. Willie Keeler 1895 .377
5. Joe Jackson 1913 .373

Pretty good company, huh?

Gravatar I too have contributed over 1,000 hits. But I have a question. If I stop by 5 times during the day for the comments, does that count as 5?

Nope, it counts each visit from the same IP only once. On the other hand, if you stop by here in the morning and then come back again at work, that counts as two visitors. I think.

Gravatar 1,999,566. thanks for the great reads on a consistent basis!

also interested in the Johan article, hope to be reading it soon.

Gravatar 1,999,613

Gravatar AG, congrats on the milestone. Hopefully you keep putting up with me questioning your blogs but it's a solid read each day. Keep up the quality work.

Gravatar Aaron, thanks for the years of excellent work. I don't usually comment either but I think I'm pretty close to that 1000 visits hallmark mentioned earlier. Keep it up. Coming to work without a Gleeman blog to read sounds like the opposite of fun.

Gravatar Congrats on keeping up with the Blog as long as you have. I'm sure that "Clown Institute" and other centers of higher learning will be needing to add "Blogging 101" to the cirriculum,
I was 1,999,896...SO Close..

Personally, I have no problem with AG.com's spokesmodels and such...why would someone be so upset that a sprts blog that features celebs NOT be upset at SI.com's Photos section featuring cheerleaders and "famous fans in the stands"

Gravatar Actually, I realized that I miscalculated earlier. Since you've been around for almost 4 years and I've been reading since practically Day One (came over from Baseball Musings), and I've stopped by many days more than once; I've probably been about 1900 of your visitors.

Gravatar I'm #2,000,000

Congrats!

Gravatar I did it! 2,000,000. And only three refreshes of my browser to Git R Done!

Gravatar Hmmmm....I have the screen-shot that says I was Mr. 2,000,000. Who's the real winner?

Gravatar "YOU'RE ALL WINNERS!"

Gravatar Keep on keeping on, AG.

Gravatar It's nice to hit the 2,000,000 visit mark, but have you been tested for performance enhancing drugs? Before you enter the blogger HOF I think we need to make sure you are clean.

Gravatar I was just reading some of the yanksfan vs soxfan blog for the first time. Apparently there are a bunch of Sox fans who think Francona is doing a bad job of managing the Sox. One even goes so far to say that he is deliberately sabotaging the sox. I wonder if we can trade them Gardenhire for Francona.

I've linked the site as my homepage.

Gravatar Another lurker here, for the past six months or so. Thanks for your hard work and excellent analysis. Being a native Twins fan who currently lives (far) outside of Twins Territory, I can echo the value of independent internet sources like your blog. I read AG.com for stats, Batgirl for sass, and boxscores on Yahoo. That keeps me happy. Thanks again.

Gravatar Nice!

This is perhaps the first place I go to everyday (or night). Keep up the good work Aaron.

Gravatar A couple more fun facts about Chairman Mauer and other immortal 23-year olds.

He is on pace to produce 212 hits. If he does he will tie for 8th all-time among 23's. Tied with whom, you ask? Some guy named Pujols (2003). The only player to do better than that at age 23 in the last 40 years: George Brett (1976, 215).

And he's on a pace for 45 doubles, which would tie him for 9th place all-time with Scott Rolen (1998), among others. The only 23 year olds to do better in the last 60(!) years: Fred Lynn (1975, 47) and that Pujols guy (51).

Yes, I know. It's highly unlikely he will keep up this pace. But it's fun to speculate, isn't it?

Gravatar Congrats on 2 million Aaron!!! I see you get as many hits in a day as I get in a week (a good week!). I only wish that my writing and content was 1/7th as good as yours!

Keep up the great work!!

Gravatar Congrats on the hits -- great insightful writing, plus in this baseball-mad area it's a great distraction from the usual "Sox vs Yankees universe" routine. Using Clemens Math, Aaron, you deserve a contract for $2,000,061. (gotta honor the weight loss too, it's really awesome). Thanks for a great blog AND live comment wire, I usually sneak in a couple times from work to see how it evolves. You just can't get good coverage of the Twins outside Minnesota and you're the Daily Fix.

Gravatar Way to go, Aaron. Did you notice that after you and your readers complain about something long enough, i.e. Batista, Castro, the Twins suddenly, after a couple of months, recognize the problem themselves, and start thinking of possible solutions? Of course, they still seem to think the return of Sierra will have a positive effect, so I can't really say much about their acumen. Maybe Bartlett nailed Mrs. G. as well as her daughter, and failed to show leadership skills while doing so. Maybe they can just use him on road trips, you know, where they are 10-24.

Gravatar So, as a Red Sox fan who is currently being thoroughly dominated by a guy who may be the greatest pitcher alive, I refuse to feel bad for you. Yeah, Gardenhire is a fruitcake who makes bd decisions and jerks around his young players. Yeah, Terry Ryan should have the sense to make Gardy stop or fire him. But you get to watch This guy once every 5 days. And sadly, as I speak, he has nearly been statistically eliminated from the possibility of striking out 21 (he's at 12 with 9 outs to go, although the way Schill is pitching as well they could both go into the 10th), I'm absolutely amazed. The reason this guy doesn't get the respect he deserves from Cy Young voters has a lot to do with his win total and the twins offense, but also has to do with the fact that people can't SEE the Twins games. Every start Johan makes should be on national television. every one of them.

this is insane.

Gravatar As another Red Sox fan, I must say that this has been a great game, regradless of the outcome. Also, while the Dome sucks, the organ is awesome. I love to hear it, or the facsimile of it if it is not real. Beats the hell out of that disco/dance stuff they play nowadays during rallies.

Gravatar Great work Aaron.

As a Jays fan, Battersbox is my first visit everyday, but it's always followed by a trip here. I'm not a Twins fan and never will be, but I love reading the content and analysis here. Keep up the good work.

Gravatar Yeah, Santana is awesome. But damn, this Papelbon guy is pretty sweet too..! Normally a 0.28 ERA is a typo.

Gravatar Looks like Crain is about to blow it.

Gravatar In the words of Glenn Quagmire, "How expected!"

Gravatar Giggity Giggity Giggity!!!

Gravatar I hate watching on mlb.com but seeing the words "Jason Kubel hits a grand slam" never sounded so sweet.

Gravatar AND BATISTA HAS BEEN DFA! WHEEEE!

AGNP

Gravatar Aaron, you need to reach 2 million hits more often. This has been quite the day in Twins happenings.

Gravatar happy 2 million hits, batista is now gone!

What a present eh?

Gravatar Thanks for the great work Aaron. I am glad that TR is finally reading blog and sent Baptista away forever....and bartlett up!!

What a great day for the Twins

Gravatar So, was bunting with Ford tonight not the worst baseball decision Gardy has made in quite some time? We might as well just be like "yeah, let's take the bat out of Joe's hands, and see if Cuddyer, the same guy I didn't start because I didn't trust, can bring this one home".

Oh, and how's that poetic justice for ya? We win on a grand slam by who? The 2nd most jerked around rook on the team, Jason Kubel (2nd to Bartlett, of course).

Eat sh*t Gardy. Really. At least Bartlett's getting the call:)
