Welcome to Alberta. Rat and LIEberal free.

Gravatar Probably better than mine. I haven't been able to find a whole lot, but have done my best. Haven't put it up yet though, I'm trying to find a bit more.

Gravatar Gayle - I'm sure yours will be just as good, if not better. It's the effort that counts in the tribute.

Gravatar I don't know what happened. That was the end of my comment, not the beginning. Somehow the entire thing didn't publish. Oh well...
(Wow, I couldn't publish the following because you came in and published at the same time!)

What I said (I think) was: Exellent job Ab! Extremely well done. This poor man was crushed under a fire truck trying to save someone else's life. He's a hero. May he rest in peace.

Then I said "I think this post is probably better than mine." etc. Oh well...
And I'm not even drinking anything!

Gravatar Gayle - "And I'm not even drinking anything!" ... ROFL .... well start spiking that orange juice... sheeesh...

Gravatar AB...what a beautiful tribute..God bless you.

Gravatar Awesome tribute, I still have to put some more work into mine.

Gravatar Very nice tribute. The world lost alot of good people that day.

Gravatar Your did a great thing here Ab. We must never forget.

Gravatar I liked your tribute to Captain Brethel very much, ABF. "There's a home video of Daniel Brethel at age 4, wearing a fire hat that he'd gotten for Christmas, and grinning from ear to ear." ~ This spoke to me. I can imagine the child with his fire hat. I can see that vividly.

Terribly brave man, as were so many of those "First Responders" that day.

Thanks for this fine tribute! Many thanks!

Gravatar Thank you for sharing this man's story. You did a wonderful job bringing him to life.

Like you, I did not know Gilbert, the man I wrote a tribute post for, but I came to see hin through other's eyes. Please stop by and leave a link to this post in the comments, so others can come here to read.

Gravatar Thanks all ... it's very miniscule compared to what all these people sacrificed. May God bless all of them and their families.

Gravatar Thank you, AB. He sounds like a true hero.

Gravatar What a beautiful tribute. I had tears reading about the funeral procession. A true hero.

Gravatar Very nice ABF, very nice indeed....

Gravatar Alright, where is the kleenex!! Crap.. I knew I was going to cry but I always think I'm a woman of steel. I am just not when it comes to this..I become a woman of the AC/DC song "Thunderstruck"... a weeping willow!
Great post!

Gravatar It was a good idea to do these tributes. Anything we can do to help people remember these individuals and their sacrifice is a good thing. Good job Rob.

Gravatar Great tribute to another 9/11 hero! Selfless in service.

"Firemen will die here today," he said. "Don't let it be you."

What a rich quote. Thanks for telling his story, ABF.

Gravatar Oh my goodness. I am crying. What a life! What a blessing! I wish he and the firefighter he grabbed had made it.

Today at church we honored our neighborhood fire fighters as we have been doing since 2002.

I wish someone had been able to honor Daniel Brethel, alive and well.

Thank you for telling his story.

Read another tribute, this one to Laura Gilly here.

Gravatar ABF, thanks for your fine tribute to a hero who placed others first. This phrase always comes to mind at the in line of duty death of a soldier, fireman, policeman and others trying to help another human being in trouble; "Greater love hath no man than to give his life for another..."

Gravatar Beautiful job Rob!! For some reason I mourned more over the firefighters who died knowing they were heroes and sacrificed their lives that day. They didn't have to be there but they were. May we never forget!!

Gravatar A beautiful and moving tribute to one of New York's finest!

Well Done!

Gravatar A permalink has been created for the 2996 database (I am helping out as a list captain).

You may have noticed that the main site for 2996 has gone down repeatedly, due to the extremely high volume of traffic this project generated. Mirror sites have been put up that show the list of names and links. Some of them are:

Thank you for taking the time to write this tribute.
