You WILL miss not having only two seasons. Winter and construction. Don't deny!

Tim - Not true... they have four seasons.... spring... SHORT summer(80-100F).....fall....... SHORT winter(a few weeks of snow.... maybe, avg about 30 F)....... where we are living... short shallow frost makes construction minimal...
Damn... gonna have to add construction to the list... miss every road closed in the summer.... Nope

AB: I've only visited Canada twice, both times on Quadra Island at April Point. I can remember two distinct things:
At the border, I was smart enough to declare that, as a US peace officer, I had a loaded handgun in my possession (pre-9/11). They took it from me, placed it in some bags which I retrieved upon leaving.
I can also recall the horrible dismay with which the ferry restaurant grill operator treated me when I disclosed I had only US dollars, no loonies, no toonies. That was back when the CD was extremely devalued as compared to the USD.
Other than that, I remember Canada and, specifically, BC, as being the province of NO PEOPLE, empty highways, beautiful roadways, trees, forests, 100 kph limits (LESS than 60 mph!), obvious clear cutting on mountains, a continuous chain of barges hauling away logs, my Sony digital camera dying due to massive spume from a Vancounver Island ocean Zodiac tour.
If you deem it so, a massive WELCOME to the United States.
If this is how you decide to go, we are only the BENEFACTORS and Canada is only the LESSER.
We will ALWAYS welcome you to the US!

I second BZ, Ab. Welcome to the US! I'm so happy you've decided to make this move. You may miss the wonderful Alberta scenery though, but I know that where you are moving is also beautiful.
God bless!

Good luck AB. I only have one request... Don't rub it in too hard about what we are missing, or how much better the lifestyle is down there... *oh to be able to work and keep most of your hard earned dollars*....
BTW, you got the seasons totally wrong->it goes: Almost winter, Winter, Still Winter, and road construction. Or if you happen to be lucky enough to live in Calgary, it goes-> Winter & Stampede...

BZ - Thanks. All the people on the coast live in the Vancouver area... the interior is a little to harsh for most... As for the "obvious clear cutting on mountain".. tree farms, and they rotate tracts of land, and allow them to grow for about 30 years and cut'em again .. we have that here as well... but it's a very small percentage of available forest... Looking VERY forward to moving south..
Gayle - Actually, the scenery where I'm going, is not much different from here, with the exception of the mountains, which are a couple hundred miles away. Thanks, and MO is a beautiful state...
Sycorax - "Almost winter, Winter, Still Winter, and road construction"... damn.... you people in Calgary are soooooo lucky.. ... With the temps heading down tomorrow, again, we may not even get to construction this year...
