That is a nice little horridus - very neat. If you like these guys you will love the blue arenarius. Also I really like that tall thin pot the macrozamia is in.

They have all been so well cared for - someone in the glasshouse department really loves their cycads. One day, when I win the lottery, I will have a really nice big conservatory with cycads in tall thin pots like that. It's so much better for them with their long tap-roots.

that new glasshouse is fantastic, isn't it? Everything in such spanking fresh condition. It makes me, much more familiar with Kew, feel envious.

funny you should say that Julia - a few years ago there was a message on the cycad-eec list suggesting the Wisley cycad collection was poorly maintained, obviously things are looking up!

But I like the way Kew is so much more established, and they have so many more cycads on display. I have to say I have a lot of affection for the two old glasshouses at Kew.
