So a Blonde Walks Into a Blog...

Gravatar I don't think you'll see this sort of thing happen as you state in your opener. Princess Di and JFK were such beloved people. For the most part, so little fault was found in them at all, if any. Jacko is a very polarizing person. Fantastically talented artist, but, as a person, I can't say I'm that fond of him. I was more torn up over the death of Jack Lemmon or George Harrison than I was over Jacko.

So, do I remember where I was when Di died? Yes, the mailroom of my dorm in my first year of grad school. Do I remember where I was when the Challenger exploded? Yes, in class when a sixth grader came running down the hall yelling that the space shuttle exploded. Do I remember where I was when the planes hit the WTC towers? Yes, driving to work for the first while on the phone with Katie discussing how I'd like to test as a firefighter (seriously) and on the Web desperately scouring for updated news reports of the first when the second plane hit.

Michael Jackson? Hell, I'm not even sure at this point when he actually died.

Gravatar I was on the train.

OR at least I think I was, that's when all the action happened -- while I was incommunicado.

Gravatar ~K- I totally get where you're coming from and I agree. But I think the man as an artist will overshadow the man as a person in general. I think this will go down in history as Elvis's death did.

But yeah, the evidence against him was pretty damning, even without a conviction. I have this weird pity for him that I can't explain, though....he just seems like such a tragic figure and a victim himself. Doesn't excuse what he did AT ALL, but him coming from such a messed up life makes me pity him if that makes any sense. Not as much as I hurt for his victims, of course.

~Poppy- This is so not on topic, but reading your comment made me really miss NYC! Our trip there was SO much fun...even the train.
