How Can This Not Be A New Civil War??
When People start to take security in their own hands (than the Government), they would need a reason to have weapons. Then We'd have another Hezbullah, Except, we would label them as the good guys (relatively). How Can this not be a Sunni-Shiite War?
No Way! No Weapons, to Nobody. Primarily Hezbollah! Only the Army has Weapons!

although i agree with joseph 100%, i find hassan's comment very funny. tareek jdeedeh are made of thugs, and the hez are the good guys? remember who brought this whole thing on hassan. going into tareek jdeedeh and antagonizing people there, starting much of the underest and please don't forget who is destroying this country single handedly. just in case you don't have the right answer...it is nazirallah and his hoodlums.
Like Joseph said, this is just the first phase in the not so long process of evolution for a military group.
First give them a reason to exist.
Then let them prove themselves by letting them orchestrate an incident where they would "intervene" to "save the day".
Allow them to draw more support and popularity to themselves; badges, T-shirts, logos, billboards etc.
Then allow them to arm themselves (not a hard thing to do in Lebanon, just draw from your family's Civil War stash).
Next thing you know, they won't let anyone take their arms, and they want seats in the parliament.

You have no right to assume anything about my beliefs or political leanings. This 'either/or' and 'with or against' mentality is really sick and destructive.
When I see Mostafa beating around the bush with a hez issue, I'll comment accordingly.
Another thing, where does my comment say that Tareek Jdeideh is made of thugs? I have good friends there and I know there are thugs there, too. I can see more colors than one in anything. I hope you can, too.
This is wrong. While I can see where all this is coming from, but the answer can't be by forming "local sectarian defense", it's the beginning of a civil war once again.
The army, ONLY the army should hold up weapons, and be responsible for providing security to all of us.
HA, and ANY OTHER GROUP, NO MATTER WHAT ITS SECT, should be disarmed, this is the only way out.

first of all, i did not accuse you of anything, rather, i pointed out a FACT. second, go back and read your previous post and you will see that you clearly made the "thugs" reference. i don't know if you are or not with the opposition, but your tactics are clearly taken from their playbook. and if you are nuetral (rolling eyes), please refer to ALL sides.
i admit iam not nuetral, staunch supporter of harriri/saniora and i don't pretend to be unbiased, but i still go back to joseph's statement and fully agree and i believe failasoof reiterated the thought.
