Umm, come again? Gulfsands!? Oh you mean this Gulfsands? The Gulfsands that struck a dry hole?

The reservoirs encountered thus far in the well have lower indicated permeability than expected and it is therefore uncertain that any hydrocarbons there will yield commercial production rates. However, given that lower permeability reservoirs are productive in other parts of the world, we consider it prudent to preserve the wellbore for further operations."
Mmmm yes... And did The Economist notice when Syria's finance minister revealed that the oil sector deficit shot up from $157 mil. in 2006 to $1.3 bil. in 2007?! This is three years before the IMF's forecasts last year, which didn't see this high a deficit until 2010.
There's a lot more to pick apart, and that's just in that particular graph! Terrible article.
