I actually considered leaving work today to go see it. My desire increased when I walked in and found out my direct boss was out. I haven't been here long enough to really do it, but long enough that I am fantasizing about doing it.

I've decided I already like this movie.

It's on the agenda for tonight.

Somehow I haven't been in a theater for almost three years, since seeing "Collateral." That streak is ending very soon, for this movie.

It's one of the few things this summer I actually want to see. And there's something that amuses me about the image of my large-bellied self waddling up to the ticket window and asking for "one for Knocked Up."

Can't wait to see it. I had avoided "40 Year Old Virgin" for a long time, thinking it was a juvenile "fart jokes" kind of comedy. When I finally saw it on DVD, I loved it. So I'm eager to catch this one - it's just a matter of whether I want to brave the NYC opening-weekend crowds.

It's playing at the AMC/Loews in the Village, which usually draws good-sized crowds (important for a comedy) but respectful/non-rowdy ones. The Loews Lincoln Square and Loews Orpheum are also pretty good on that point.

I work near Times Square, so I nearly always end up at one of the 42nd Street multiplexes - it's just so easy to walk down the block after work. (Especially since the best way for me to get home is to be on 42nd Street.) But it's good to know where my better options are. (If I could just find the interest in actually getting on a subway or walking 20 blocks to go to the movies...)

I think I'll go tomorrow in Astoria.

I am Sue and Sue is me and me is she and we are all together.

How exciting is it to see Seth Baruchel paired up with Martin Starr with Jason Segel and Rogen as the nut butter in that Apatow sandwich?

By the way, I was watching 40YOV on HBO the other night, and I could swear that Jenna Fischer was an extra -- no speaking role -- in the bar scene where the guys hit on the bachelorette party. It would make sense -- she's obviously friends with Carrell, she did three or four episodes of Undeclared in a minor recurring role, and 40YOV was shot in the hiatus between the two seasons of the Office, when the show hadn't yet hit and Fischer didn't have either buzz or much to do. And then she did S60 uncredited last night. She is killing her IMDB resume.

I believe that's correct. And I shared in the disappointment that we did not have an opportunity for Pam and Dawn to meet on last night's Studio 60.

my work is paying for people to go today, I think, but being a freelancer, I now miss out, but I will definitely be going this weekend

I missed S60 last night. And yet, I didn't really MISS it.

I totally want to see it, but I'm not sure I can handle this movie at Court Street in Brooklyn, which features a very rambunctious audience (perfect for some movies! but not all). I may see Pirates tonight and wait to see KU when the opening crowds die down.

Gretchen, come across the bridge to our end of the world. It's not that long a trip!

the YouTube comments make me fear for the planet.

movie looks pretty damn funny, though.

I've have been so waiting for this! Nothing can keep from seeing this movie this weekend: not Dallas opening weekend crowds or the risk of a fibromyalgic flare-up in my legs from sitting in a movie theater seat! Now I just hope we can see it tonight. I used to love opening nights when I was younger...they always seemed to be the *only* way to see a movie. Ahem. Now, I'm responsible and all that. Uhm. Cough.

Just saw it. Loved it. Seth Rogen is great and I love Martin Starr. I loved him when he was Bill and my crush continues.

The word "email" given in round 1 of 2003 was much harder than you probably think.

The speller was not given the familiar word referring to electronic mail.

She got an entirely different word, with a very different meaning, pronunciation, and etymology.

The word "email" that was pronounced for the speller in the 2003 round 1 was "ay-my" with the first syllable rhyming with "hay" and the second syllable rhyming with "why." The Webster's definitions given were 1. enamel and 2. a moderate bluish green to greenish blue that is lighter than gendarm, deeper than cyan blue, and duller than parrot blue--called also bleu Louise.

The origin of the word is French.

The more familiar everyday "email" meaning electronic mail was not in the Webster's Third New International Dictionary back in 2003, so it could not have been used in the bee that year.

S.B.Mom: Thanks. That, um, really does change things. Wow.

Can I still use "sanguine" as the example from that round?

Knocked Up is great. Saw it last night at a 6:00 showing and there were college students and seniors all in the mix. I actually think the older crowd laughed more. Especially at the biting comments about marriage and the "Everyone Loves Raymond-ness, but FOREVER" of it all (you'll have to see it to undersand that). The young kids at the movie just couldn't relate.
