Pregnant! 21 weeks. It's our first

If the word "canoodling" is not used at some point in this thread, it's not really Page Six.

Congrats, Abby!

I'm due this week. Mariam Rebecca should be showing up any day now. If people would like to send labor-inducing ideas/vibes my way, I'd really appreciate it.

Congrats to Abby and, pre-emptively, to all for the good news they will report here.

Our 13th wedding anniversary is tomorrow! And three days after that, the 15th anniversary of the night my wife and I met. Not really "news of recent vintage," but I've been too busy with the Phillies, Springsteen, getting the kids and the house ready for Halloween, and work (in roughly that order) for much else.

And best of luck to Meghan too!

The following suggestion worked 1 out of the 1 times that we tried it: Go to Pat's. Eat a cheesesteak. Labor ensues approx. 12 hours later.

I know some of the folks here congratulated me on twitter when I got engaged at the end of July. Which means at some point in the future I probably have to have a wedding (serious thoughts of eloping in my head).

And congratulations to the newlyweds and the babies to be and anniversaries and all the good news!!

Congrats to all!

Ah, good news on a MOnday morning! Congrats and felicitations to all.

I got nuthin'. In fact, one could argue that my life has regressed in recent months.

Congrats to all. New baby girl here (joining her almost 4-year-old big brother). 5 weeks tomorrow.

I am four weeks into my new job. Good work, great hours, nice co-workers---I'm a pretty happy camper.

The condo in Atlanta currently has an offer with contingency on it, so if either someone could come in and offer to buy it straight-up with no contingency or else someone buys my prospective buyers' home, I'll be ready to get settled somewhere other than my teeny temporary apartment here in DC.

Congrats to everyone for the lovely baby, wedding, etc., news!

We (sbr929 and I) had a baby girl (our first) at the end of September. Baby and mother now share a birthday.

In contrast to our dog (Olive), we even managed to name her -- Micah Stav (stav means "autum"n in Hebrew) -- without relying on the ALOTT5MA community for help. With parenting, however, we will take all the help we can get.

Mazel tov to everyone! Yay for all the new and soon-to-be-new babies!! (Meghan, all I got for you is 'walking,' but I'll also send good vibes your way.

15th anniversary coming up, and I'm hoping to be done with the neck brace (hit by a truck) by then. Also the kiddo is one of the kids in a show at Ford's Theatre, and is bowled over by the historicity (historicallness) of it.

My wife and I have a son on the way (our first), due April 2.

That Anon was me.
Also, Jenn, that sounds like a wonderful new job, hooray!

Labor inducing ideas:
tried but true: walking

new-agey: foot massage; pressure points in the foot supposedly induce labor

just plain weird: flashlight at the exit point--"move toward the light, little baby, move toward the light"

All were suggested to me around my due date.

Good luck! Sleep now, you won't be sleeping later!

We tried both "move toward the light baby" and "move toward the music baby" in attempts to turn around my breech-baby son. As for results, I just had my second c-section . . . so, not so much.

Fantastic news, everyone!

I have no news at all, which is actually a good thing.

Thanks to everyone! I'm about to head out for a walk, pick up some super spicy food, get a foot massage, and maybe jump on a trampoline for a while.

Congrats on new babies and engagements and jobs and lack of drama/upheaval!

Good luck Meghan! Hope you have enough batteries for that flashlight. hee

Congrats to all!

For labor ideas, I've heard castor oil. It gets EVERYTHING moving, apparently, so might not be the most pleasant (especially with that spicy food?). I never tried it myself.

For my own sake, my and my husband's 5th wedding anniversary is coming up soon. And it might not be a big deal to anyone but me, but my oldest started preschool today. As I noted on Facebook, when I dropped her off, I basically mentally had her graduating from high school next week. Such a cliche, but they grow up way too fast!

Congrats to everyone! My news is that my husband and I are (slowly) making progress toward getting two of the feature films we've written produced. We have a budget in place for one, and a budget in the works for another. These are both independent features, so fundraising is going on and we are hoping to get both of them into production in 2010. There's a chance that the one that already has a budget could get sold to investors as a package deal with another, as-yet-unwritten, feature version of a short we wrote a few years ago. Fingers and toes are tightly crossed....

P.S. My news is that at the end of August I got a sweet little kitten that I named Swarley. (Some of you on Twitter may have seen that, but I figured the rest of the ThingThrowers may appreciate it.)

Kill Bill Vol. 1, at the theater, was so vivid the water broke about an hour after we got home.

Congrats and good luck to all pregnancies!

Little Nobo, and his brother, Littlest Nobo, turned 6 and 2, respectively, in the last 8 weeks or so.

Little Nobo is also about 8 weeks into kindergarten.

I got married back in January, but nothing else of significance has happened more recently.

Oh, duh.... Congratulations to everyone. That is some wonderful news. I'm always happy to hear good news from good people.

Congratulations all around! Mrs. Russ, the Girl, and I took a really lovely trip to Germany and Austria in August, but otherwise no news here that I can think of.

Massive home improvement project will finally be done Wednesday after two months and life will return to normal.

(I misspelled 'improvement' so I clicked for spell-check. The first word they offered was 'impoverishment'. Probably more accurate.)

I ain't got nothing, but do want to offer congratulations to everyone who's accomplished something this year! (Maybe instead of perusing the intarwebs, I can get started on the major home renovation project that I expected to have finished 18 months ago....)

Not nearly as exciting, but my Labrador, Crash, (not the barkylab in the title -- that was his predecessor) got his AKC Rally Novice title last month. It's the first step on a long Obedience career I have planned for him.

Congrats to everyone! Babies are a great addition -- being an aunt is my favorite job.

In November my wife and I are going to Mexico to celebrate her 40th birthday. All thanks and praises are due to the swine flu, fears of which have made resorts offer ridiculous deals to entice travelers to visit.

Congrats to all! I'm teaching my American Pop Culture course again this fall, and I've found myself repeatedly going back to our online version of it, mining the comments sections for your sharp insights and helpful suggestions. One major change: midway through the semester, I incorporated a week-long role-playing exercise, built around the negotiations over the 1930 Motion Picture Production Code and modeled on the "Reacting to the Past" teaching method that I've used in other courses. I had heaps o' fun writing the roles, selecting the documents, and casting the parts (did you know that Jack Warner was actually a blond Irish-American woman?), and the students really enjoyed the less traditional, more immersive learning experience.

Nothing nearly as exciting as new jobs, babies, engagements, etc. but my recent fun news is that my future sister-in-law, whom I adore, asked me to be her maid of honor at her wedding to my brother next May. This wedding has been long anticipated and I feel so lucky to be getting such a great sister, who is letting me play such a big role in their wedding.

Prof. Jeff, do you use Paul Starr's book on the creation of the media?

First wedding anniversary was yesterday, and our kitties unwittingly celebrated first birthdays recently.

First day at my new job is today! Congrats to everyone on all the great news. I love these threads.

Congratulations to everybody! As per usual, nothing too new or exciting going on with me - I'm winning one of my fantasy football leagues?

I bought a house which was simultaneously awesome and frightening!

meghan -- i had the stomach flu for 24 hours which led directly into labor for my second child....but i really wouldn't recommend that as an induction mechanism, regardless of efficacy.

congrats to everyone on the babies, weddings, jobs, etc.!

My big news this week is that I'm in show opening Thursday. Big move up from my usual100-200 seat venues to a 900-seat theatre. Might as well be Carnegie Hall for someone of my limited ambitions.

We're doing a staged radio-theater adaptation of the War of the Worlds and the Frank Cyrano Byfar Hour (because you can't just *start* War of the Worlds, you have to interrupt something.)

If any Boston-area folks' tastes in pop-culture novelties include classic radio drama, the show is at the Somerville Theatre, and you can find out more at bb1938.com.

Congratulations to all! Scott, we're going to Mexico in November too -- huzzah for the swine flu scare, which makes Cabo very well-priced (even though no cases have ever been reported there!)

Congrats to all! Been living in our new house for a couple of months. Love the house more then words can say, but can not completely enjoy it until we sell the old one.

Today is my seventh wedding anniversary and last week saw the release of a book cowritten and coedited by my husband. We've put off our celebration on both due to a death in the family (his) and a sinus infection (mine), but he has a book signing on Wednesday in Chicago, and we plan to have a nice dinner this weekend.

Congrats to all with the new marriages and new babies!

I love these threads as there is so much happy news in one spot. I've finished my Masters moved back to Melbourne and am now job hunting. Spring has sprung here and whilst the drought hasn't necessarily broken the trees in the parks around my apartment are looking a lot less stressed.

ssh! tomorrow's our 8th wedding anniversary.

Adam- is that ssh, don't tell Jen or ssh, I just remembered and now have five hours to make magic happen?

By the way, I bought Jen's first book because I saw your wedding announcement in the Times eight years ago.

Wow. And more of a "ssh! Not big news, but just so you know."

The Times? I saw it on Leno :)

Congrats everybody! Nothing exciting to report right now, but hopefully there will be good news in a few days when I get my SAT scores (ahhhhh so nervous). Oh, and it was my birthday last week- lots of fun :)

Congrats to all! We are celebrating 5 years in a few weeks. Due to a fender bender this AM (sadly my fault) and between the deductible, higher premiums and new carseat, the iPhone will continue to be a dream for a while. Cue Debbie Downer music.

Oh, and we have dog #5, a chihuahua puppy. Got her from a 501(c)(3) rescue league that somehow only managed to have various litters of purebred puppies. HMMMMM....

Always good to hear so much good news from so many awesome people--no marriage, child, housing purchase or change, career change, or otherwise, from here.

Happy to hear all the good news; congrats to all! Eat some spicy food, Meghan! Good luck, Maddy!!

Nothing new to report. I would like to note that I saw piledhighanddeep over at another blog and was very excited about it--like seeing someone from your high school when you're on vacation in Europe.

Whoa--You must have excellent taste, spacewoman...or someone else has stolen my moniker.

And yes, congrats to all. Our big news is that the swine flu has left the building. The three day fever? Not fun.

Thanks for all of the good wishes, sending lots of the same to everyone else!

In case anyone is wondering, we are currently on our honeymoon in Hawaii (even if Atlanta threatened to derail us- yeah for making it from gate A2 to gate E10 in less than 5 minutes)... currently, I am fighting off sleep, even though it is only 6pm local, because I've heard that's the best way to kill jetlag. Anybody else have any hints? The hubby has failed at this plan and is currently passed out cold lol. More champagne for me!

Congrats to all! Nothing exciting to report here, but I'm happy to hear that you all are up to good things.

Those who have said so are right, it's wonderful to read everyone's happy news. As for us in Dallas, we just celebrated our 14th anniversary of marriage last month. Plus, we always celebrate an even more meaningful anniversary to us: the day we became soul mate/best friends. Halloween 1987. 22 years this Saturday. We plan to celebrate and just have fun for a change! :)

D'oh! Congratulations to everyone. Peace and Love, Incorporated. ;)

Congrats to everyone! Babies are fun - except when your 2 year old has the stomach flu on your 40th birthday. Yeah, that was me on Saturday...will spare you the details...but not fun...

EnidV - I spent my 40th taking care of my husband and 11 year old who both had swine flu, and my 5 year old who had strep, while I was just getting over strep. I feel your pain.

Yay Callie! Drink more champagne!

Callie - the best recommendation I know is to be exposed to sunlight (preferably out in it, through a window if not) during the daytime of the place you are, as much as possible. Really helps re-set your internal clock.
