Have you been eating food under non-reliable supervision in the name of pluralism?

Rabbi Dr. Yosef Tzvi Duner
My husbands great, great great great (i think that's it) grandfather
He was the Chief Rabbi of Amsterdam, and the man who gave the psak that Dutch Jews love - one hour between meat and milk (yes, i consider it a family minhag...)

If I understand the suhya correctly the issue of how much time one wiats between meat and milk by definition can't be a family minhag, rather it is a communal minhag - similar to the time one is expected to bring in the shabbat.

Elana - correct, that's who it is. I knew you'd get it.
BB - the point is that the Gri"tz Duener instituted the minhag in Amsterdam because there was no preexisting one (as per the Rema).

Devorah - nice try, but that's not what I was referring to. Try Shemot 12:2. That's also cryptic, but it's a hint.

i'd be interested in hearing more about indifference v. pluralism, if you're inclined to expand.

That's depressing indeed...
BTW, I also think that the process was very backward. That reminds me of the guy who told me that we must bring as many Goyim from Russia as possible. Why? So that they can help make war against the Arabs. And why do you want to make war against the Arabs, I asked him. Guess the answer: so that we can have a Jewish state. Isn't that pretty backward too?

rabbi elazar ben arach and a problematic kriah!
are there such good tasting waters in honesdale and did you follow your wife there or she followed you? but really - has your disconnect grown that strong or is this just a solitary moment that lurks every now and then?
but heck your not the only one in the dark - devarim 29
