I have been keeping an eye on your blog, although I haven't actively participated. If I understand correctly, you intend to post the rest of the Torah according to the DH and then open a discussion comparing the two approaches. I think this is a great project and I intend to participate fully. Hope it goes well.

Thanks Mark. That is exactly the project. The preliminary steps are to (1) post one version of the DH (I'm using Friedman's book, because it is recent and seems to be well regarded), and (2) post a set of distinguishing characteristics of each source.

Once I get those up, we'll march through the Torah and look at both the DH and traditional explanations of different anomalies.

>That's it; pretty simple.

The dating is not quite simple and might be something you want to go into. Pre or post exilic.

Right, although technically that is an issue regarding P itself, not specifically Leviticus (although obvious it has some relevance to Leviticus). I guess we'll get to that when we get to characteristics of P.

Just to make sure I understand this.

Chapters 1 - 17 are P
Chapters 17 - 23:39 is H
Chapters 23:39 - 23:43 is R or H
Chapters 23:44 - 26:38 is H
chapters 26:39 - 26:44 is R or P
chapters 26:45 - 27 is P?

Almost, except for your last line.

Lev 26:45-46 is H.
Lev 27 is P.
