Gravatar I'm glad you liked my entry on not being afraid to fail! Like you, my parents also raised me to think traditionally about debt (meaning: debt=BAD). Changing my mindset has been difficult, but also very liberating & exciting. And nerve-wracking too, I won't lie. But it's been worth it.

I love hearing about people setting out to start their own businesses. A friend told me that some of the best companies were born in times of economic distress (such as we're in right now). So don't let the economy deter you - let it propel you.

Times like this teach smart entrepreneurs to be intelligent about their decisions. These learnings carry over into prosperous economic times, where they're amplified exponentially.

As an example: with smart debt, you can negotiate low rates with vendors right now, then lock them in when the vendors raise their prices for everyone else.

Good luck with your entrepreneurial ventures!
