These are great, Jamie. Keep them coming. I had seen Sheridan before and I concur, the man is a barbarian in form (not in mind, mind you). Hilarious anecdote about the Irish priest and NC. He should attend your dad's parish for one Sunday Mass and he would be convinced you were right. Sounds like you and EJB are having a blast there. My question is, are you getting weird looks for draping Old Glory over your shoulders?

Thanks for bringing us your tales of WYD... you're helping me with my only middle-age crisis to date: the inability to attend WYDs!

> New discovery: German pubs (which as a rule, I learn, are breweries) only carry one kind of beer, i.e. their own
Only true for brewery pubs (German: Brauhaus). Something typical for Cologne. Like the Cologne beer (Kölsch).
> Other discovery: Germans drink beers by the fifth of a liter
This is only typical for Cologne and the Kölsch beer.
In Düsseldorf (a co-city of the WYD) they haver their own "Alt" beer and use bigger glasses (0.4 liter). And in Bavaria they have their 1 liter mugs.
On some aspects Germany is a very diverse country.

Fun! The Polish Prince put me on to your blog (at least I am guessing he's the only person who would call himself that here) and I hope you send us cool pictures of the crowd! Wishing I was there...

Thanks for the details on what is going on during WYD. I think that Cologne is the best setting for such an event.
BTW, the glass that Kölsch is served in is unusually small for Germany. Usually the glasses are much larger.

Jamie,
It was great meeting you in the hotel lobby at WYD. I really must have intimidated you. Of course, I could kill you in three seconds -- but I never would.
Is a frat boy haircut a good thing?
