Gravatar From the comment section of an Iranian blog: "1. On his Persian language site, the Afghan blogger writing from Kabul, Sohrab Kabuli, has been writing up some lengthy posts detailing the atrocities committed by U.S. occupation forces inside of Afghanistan. Sohrab's English language blog, called Afghan Lord, however, is strangely lacking in such news, so much so that the english site attracts pro-war fans. If only they knew what Sohrab was writing in his Persian site!

Sohrab Jan, if you are reading this, please translate some of what you write on your persian site into english. Your English-speaking audience needs to read it as much as your persian readers do, if not more.

update: after leaving a comment on his post suggesting that he should translate his post and after linking to him above, it seems that sohrab kabuli has erased the post i was referring to above (the post i linked to now only contains a poem, whereas previously it contained a lengthy indictment of "American Gangsters" in Afghanistan. i find this sad and curious, and obviously wonder what led him to do this)

Gravatar From the comment section of this blog: "I wished Sohrab could write the same articles as he wrote them in his Afghan homepage. But his English one is totally different from his Afghan homepage. I don't know why? Maybe he thinks he would offend his foreign readers (like dear Monica) with his critics."
What's up with this? Please explain.

Gravatar It seems to me that Afghan people, due to decades of conflict and the mobility of the population, would be particularly exposed to HIV. Do you think that Afghanistan is ready for an HIV/AIDS education campaign? And ready for condom use?

Gravatar AIDS is a horrible uncurable disease that leads to a terrifying slow painful death. That is the bad news. The good news is that this disease is entirely preventable and is not a threat to anyone who takes personal responsibility seriously. If you do not engage in activities that are prone to spreading this disease than you are safe from contracting it for the most part. Some occupations are at risk such as medical workers who may be exposed to infected bodily fluid accidentally entering their bloodstream, police or other type people who have to deal with violence that may cause the transfer of infected bodily fluid from one person to another. The vast majority of people will never have reason to come into contact with this dreaded disease if they are responsible and careful. The world blood supply is no longer in danger of contamination as all blood is checked for this and many other diseases before it is dispersed to the public. That pretty much leaves irresponsible individuals who engage in activities such as sharing needles in drug use or more commonly, people who engage in sexual relations with numerous partners or with partners that engage in sexual activities with numerous partners. Condoms are not the answer. Condoms are not permitted to be labeled as birth control devices because they are porous and sperm can get into a woman on rare occasions. If you realize that the AIDS Virus is about 1,000 times smaller than a sperm cell, you will understand the futility of playing Russian Roulette with your life. Abstinance or single partner sex is the only sure way to be safe. It is however your life and your responsibility to protect it. If you choose to live a lifestyle that allows you to get infected, do not expect me to feel the slightest bit sorry for you.
