$\"Gravatar\"$ I'm a bit confused by your last but one final paragraph on Christians and others living in Afghanistan. Your English is a bit confusing here, so forgive me if I am missing the point. I think what you are saying is something about how being a Christian in Afghanistan is not a crime in itself - and that's true. The crime, under the terms of the Constitution, is converting from Islam to another religion.

Accepting what you say about the man's origins, it does seem suspicious that he claimed Christianity when he got back to Afghanistan. But what a hugely dangerous game that would be to play. It could never have been certain that he would have ended up being given asylum. If I were him, I'd have seriously feared being killed. Indeed, in exile I would still fear being killed, as he's now such a high-profile figure.

Al Jack raised some interesting points about the West going nuts over this gent but allowing abortion (hotly debated here, as well). Since I can't get into *his* comments section, I will ask here, hope it's okay. Does this seem to be inane for we in the US to allow abortion, in MY view to curtail unwanted pregnancies and unsupportable (for whatever political, social reasons) poverty...and yet to scream bloody murder over the Sharia (did I get this right?) law applied here?

In a country that until 5 years ago thousand of people were killed in Bambyan, Mazar Sharif and etc because of their religious identity and race, in spite they were Muslim but they believe in different branch of Islam .
If he was a Christian for real why he was deported from Germany in the first place? German Government can asses the Afghanistan situation? How he was lived in Afghanistan for one year and no one disturb him at all?

Afghanistan authority make a good decision to free him and send him to Vatican.
I hope he become a good priest there. At the end of the day religion can not change nature of human. All these religion (Islam, Christianity and Jewish)are man made and all based on the same rule of Judaism

Being a Christian is not the same as being a Catholic - they are definitely not compatible although the world would have you think so.

Religion is man made and many times does not lead to God or his Spirit. If you want to truly know God - ask him to reveal himself to you. It is a prayer that never fails.
