Some time ago I was dreaming to come to Bamyan too but now I think that my dream will never come true... I don't know, maybe one day i will find a way to go there, i'm thinking of that...
Respect, what a wonderful word, not everyone knows the meaning of this word, however not always. Those women were so lucky to have met someone that had respect for them, obviously they deserved such respect.
I hope that you can solve soon your troubles with your motorbike to push ahead your travel easly and safely.

Your comment about wolves interested me. In Canada we have lots of wolves. There is a wolf pack near where I live and at night I often get to hear them "sing". Occasionally, I have see a solitary wolves up close. Wolves here are not dangerous to humans. No human being has been killed by a healthy wolf. They are very shy. I would be surprised if wolves in Afghanistan are more aggressive than those here. Unfortunately, wolves get bad press in the movies and adventure stories.
Historically, they were treated like vermin and had a bounty on them, partly out of fear and concern they killed domesticated cattle. This is no longer the case but some of the attitudes still exist. My neighbour shot two when the pack of 12 showed up in his yard for not reason other that his wrong attitude.
Bamyan I am aware is a lovely part of Afghanistan. It has also been more peaceful than other parts. I believe the troops that are there are New Zealanders and they have a rather easy go of it, while the Canadians are in Kandahar and have had a tough go there.
The people of Bamyan deserve better services from the government and more respect from other ethnic groups.

one of my instructors really loves to visit there. he loves Afghanistan. when he talks about our country, I really become happy that I am originally from there. I am living in Iran and he comes from Iran, but he used to live in England.
He never talk about England, but he always keep talking about Afghanistan.
I hope I can come there one day.
Thanks for your nice diary.

Bamyan, the most beautiful province of Afghanistan. The most peaceful province of Afghanistan.
Iwas went there twice. However, I don't believe women would treat you as you said. You rarely can see women in Bamyan Bazzar. I love Bamyan's people while i don't want people to think that Bamyan is somewhere out of Afghanistan.

Hi! It's great to get some insight-info from Afghanistan in this way.
I also just read an in-depth piece on the situation that says violence in the country is thought to increase over the summer!
(Himal Southasian magazine, http://www.himalmag.com/
Fighting...son_nw3103.html )
I wonder where it's going...

That is near the new Afghanistan National Park, right? If you are able to go, I would love to hear a report on it and any needs the people have in protecting such a treasure. I know it is low in priority compared to the needs of the sick, the children, the refugees; but sometimes one place of peace can encourage another, and then another...
