www.civiblog.org hosts civil society blogs for free, it might work well for you. I've been there a couple years and can't remember ever having down time of the blog - just occasional maintenance that only prevents access to the admin side of it. I've never heard of them having security problems. They host blogs like yours as part of their mission so are probably more aware of these kinds of potential issues.
You could also save your posts somewhere else online - maybe set up an extra gmail account and send copies of your writing to it. After blogging for a few years, I can definitely feel your pain! I'd be devastated if I lost all of those posts.
Monkey, with civiblog I think your blog has to be something like, kabuli.civiblog.com ... I don't see a feature where they host domains entirely for free.

Moreover about my header (also a friend of Giovanni asked to use it) I did it in photoshop and as I answered u on my blog I can send u the pict by email and u can use it or if u want u can give me some pictures u like and I do a different but similar one for you!
Moreover - u know what I was thinkin? I think it would be nice and useful to create a blog that present all the blogs about afghanistan to kind of create a network so that people can go on that blog and see all the last entries of our blogs and be always quickly updated.
