Hi Nasim. You're very brave (or foolhardy!) to be publishing under your own name, but if you're going to be an international journalist, it's probably a good step to make. Your right to free speech is protected by Afghan law, and enforced by the Afghan Police, the Afghan National Army and NATO. Which is a lot of firepower. Let's hope it all works though! I publish under my real name too, but Australia has a longer history of allowing freedom of speech and having an absence of political assassinations. Good luck!

Paul,
I also decided to make history of allowing freedom of speech without threats and in intimidation.
If we ourself don't do it i am sure no one giving us as a gift. I am going to experience writing in my real name although with fear.

Congratulations Nasim!
I can only say that I admire your courage and your posts just as well as your pictures.
By the way, I told you some months ago that I would contact someone at the Dutch ISAF forces for you. I eventually managed to do so. It was difficult, because communications from civilians were restricted. Unfortunately, the news are not too good. My friend there (who is now back in Holland) indicated that Dutch forces are not allowed to have direct contact with journalists. Everything has to go through the media center of the ISAF in Kabul. He told me that the only way you could be allowed to interview ISAF members would be to pass through their desk. And knowing how Dutch people stick to the rules, I believe it is really the only way.
I am sorry about that because I would have liked to help you. But that's the way it is...

It seems that one of the victims of the Kam Air crash on Feb. 3, 2005 was a Dutch national working for the Australian Engineering firm Snowy Mountains Engineering. His (or her) name still seems to be unknown,
at least, to me. I'm wondering if Alphast has means to learn more about
that. I find it very interesting that
the Dutch contingent to the ISAF maintains such strict censorship. One
might guess that there's a lot that mere citizens are entitled to know.
