The present Leo Casey is clueless about the classroom teacher problems. He is more interested in Dufur, kissing Randi's butt, and writing about his grossly-inflated ego.
Now he is vice-president of the high schools. Oy vey!!
My chin fell to the floor when I read his post. But then I had to laugh.
He had no qualms deleting my comments on the merit pay issue. Never, ever critize Leo or you will be deleted!
I am always amazed when people like him cry foul when they get treated the same way they treat others.
He got a taste of his own medicine and doesn't like it.
I've had comments on Edwize deleted by Leo too...to bad Leo can't take what he dishes out.
But then again, bullies usually can't.

When he has his job deleted and is placed in a rubber room, then perhaps I'll feel sorry for him. Or at least sorrier than he feels for the people currently in stir.
Are you guys saying that when our posts are removed from Edwize (mine were, too), that it is always Leo doing the removing?
Leo has gone beyond special rep and is now the high school VP, being elected at an Exec. Bd meeting of the UFT recently. Overjoyed high school teachers danced in the streets at the election of the ever popular Leo by a body of 90 while they are denied the right to elect the high school VP in general elections.
New Action ran a token candidate in the make-believe Ex Bd election.
Any high school teachers out there organizing a recall vote?
In fairness, I don't believe Leo Casey personally removes posts. That job, I believe, belongs to the webmaster, Steve Perez.
But is a webmaster like Steve Perez empowered to make the decision as to what to remove, which is a political one after all? Is he given guidelines? Maybe all this is a good issue to bring up at a delegate assembly.
Or maybe sponsor a resolution calling for a boycott of mouse-related items in support of Leo.
"Whereas Leo Casey has been distracted from his daily activities of monitoring blogs that might be critical of Unity Caucus by this terrible act of Disney...
"Resolved the UFT raise dues to hire private investigators to get to the bottom of all of this."
Leo has a High School Committee meeting each month that all high school members may attend and ask him questions directly. Why don't some of you guys get out from behind the computer screen and talk to Leo publicly?
The former webmaster was nice enough to email me whenever I questioned the policy. It wouldn't surprise me if he was told which comments to delete.
But why delete my comment about the new merit pay policy? When I quoted Joe Torre (incentives are insulting), my comment was down the next day. So I posted again, and again it was deleted.
I think Torre's comment coming on the heels of the merit pay announcement was not good PR for the union. Other bloggers like Pissed Off Teacher posted on Joe Torre.
NYTeacher always advertises Edwize as a place for teachers. But it's really a place for teachers who agree with policy.
I would be happy if we went back to having CL elect the DR. At least they would be responsible to the rank and file they represent or they can be voted out. Now there are no checks and balances. The rules are changed to protect those in power.
And for Annon to tell us to attend meetings...what for?? We now hate going to our school's union meetings because our needs are not answered. When Mikey came to our school, all he kept saying was "the principal has the right..."
If these meetings were to figure out a way to restore what we lost in the last 2 contracts, I would be there.
