There's actually quite a bit of controversy within the "Deaf" community about guide dogs for the hearing. I, as a hearing impaired, think it's a little ludicrous but who am I to judge?

On the other hand, as the father of a daughter with deafness, I'd be in that school raising hell daily if they denied a service I thought she needed.
I wonder what kind of dog it is? Beagle would be cool.

Off topic:
The SNL sketch referenced in the picture is a classic...one of the best.
On topic:
"The Caves, who had sued the district for $150 million..."
Merits (or lack thereof) of the case aside, where do they come up with such an outlandish number? Is it just to generate publicity? Sheesh!

Uhh, maybe I'm daft. But I thought it wasn't legal to prevent the entry of service animals. Perhaps the law I am thinking of only applies to housing, but I know I have seen signs at various retail establishments to the effect of "No animals allowed except for service animals".
So, in summary, what a bunch of ***hats for getting involved in a court case that by all rights, laws, and common sense they should lose. But hey, it's easier than educating children.

Shortwoman,
I'm too lazy to do any research on this, but I think there have been rumblings in recent years on the expansion of service animals to disabilities beyond blindness and the resultant increase in what some see as unnecessary service animals. (Please note that I'm not passing judgement on this case...except for my comment above on the large sum in the suit).

I also thought it was illegal to banish service animals. Don't some people have them who are severely epileptic? I've seen on television that there are some people with disabilities who have a monkey as their service animal. How funny would that be in a school?
I'm just sayin.

If the kid needs it why not?
It gives the kid confidence and independence, no?
