This sort of thing has been going on for years. It's very encouraging to see the curtain being drawn back in the tabloids, but everything is long term perception. After years of being bombarded with crap about what an intrepid reformer Bloomberg is, that fairy tale seems to have taken hold in the public consciousness.
But I certainly hope you're right. It would be nice to see the truth prevail for once.
One problem with Kleinberg's claim that Sp Ed and ELL students lowered the NAEP scores is that those students took the NYS exams whose results Kleinberg crowed so loudly about. They do try to have it both ways at all times.
This doesn't really surprise me. It seems par for the course. It's good to see it in print for once with so many sources.
