Gravatar FYI;
There is precedent in Federal courts that can allow government entities to terminate or discipline an employee if his speech interferes with the function of the department he works for. The case involved a deputy sheriff who spoke out against enforcement policies of the county sheriff.

This case can, and under kleinberg, will be used to punish any of us who effectively speak out against things like the worksop moder or testing. This is parcel to the gotcha squads. Open dissatisfaction with current practices will result in a U rating and the threat of subsequent dismissal.

Gravatar Why do you have to go and give them ideas?

Gravatar Believe me I did not come up with this by myself, though I knew about the caselaw. There was some thought two years ago at Tweed of using it during those demonstrations, like the one D24 had against Irizarry. That's when i first heard about the caselaw.
Now it just fits nicely with these machinations currently under way to destroy tenure.

Will randi allow this to happen? Does Randi know? does randi even care?

Gravatar Ms. Weingarten is very busy these days. Apparently, her approach of throwing raw meat to the monster that is Tweed is not working out.

Much to her surprise, it not only eats everything she throws it, but gets hungry later. Who could've conceived that hunger is not a one-time thing?

Gravatar This kinda thing makes me nervous about writing my own book, but I guess in a few years, they'll make sure my tenure won't matter anyways.

Good post.
