Gravatar Back in the early 80s when I was living in Louisville and working in restaurants, the day my paycheck bounced I walked out of the restaurant and found another job. It's a bad sign when your employer can't pay you.

Gravatar It's always interesting when the "glitch" ALWAYS shorts your check and never overpays isn't it?

Gravatar Principals union settled - 23% for 7 years. Principals and Assistant Principals will work 15 more minutes a day. Maximum annual bonus supervisors can receive goes from 15 grand to 25 grand. And they get a lump sum payment in August of 4 grand.

My AP said when she heard this new principals' union guy speak to a bunch of members, he talked tough about Klein and Bloomberg trying to nickel and dime them on time. Said he wouldn't allow the membership to get nickeled and dimed. To me, it looks like like they got nickeled and dimed on the time issue. But what do I know?

Anyway, I would assume this is a preview of our next crappy contract, minus the bonuses and lump sum payment. Basically 3.2% a year (not even a COLA) and more minutes (if APs are working 8 hours and 15 minutes, teachers can't remain at the 6 hour and 50 minute day, can they?)

What do you think, nyc?

Gravatar Well, I remember the dotcom days. And I knew people who went without paychecks for weeks. And frankly, I never understood why they went back to work everyday, on the hope that maybe -- just maybe -- they'd get paid. I mean, you can sit at home and not get paid, and have time to look for a job that involves money.

It is worth noting that none of these people had a contract that says "thou shalt go to work", but that selfsame contract says "and we shall pay you." So I guess I wonder what would happen if Ms. LATeacher called in and said "Yeah, I'm sick. I'm gonna be really sick until you guys barf up a paycheck."

Gravatar Off Topic- I dedicated my post to you (among others) today.
